Most boring game you've ever played.

Far Cry 2. I this game gave me no instructions after the dull tutorial. I then fast traveled to the opposite side of the map, shot up a couple of camps and turned it off. This from someone who likes to role-play as a delivery guy in GTA IV.

Dragon Age: Origins, however, didn't get past the tutorial. I chose to be a city elf and when I got to the castle I realized I was having absolutely NO fun. Probably a good game but I'll never find out.

Ah fuck, I find this topic really depressing for some reason. Maybe it's from the cash I've wasted...

- Oblivion. Completely boring and, on a sidenote, bloody ugly. I am quite enjoying Skyrim though...

- All of the Fable series. Just... Fuck...

- Mass Effect 1&2. Bored the shit out of me, however I quite liked some of the choice sections.

- Lost Planet 2. No idea why I bought that shit, but I WAS drunk. Worst shooter I have played in a long time.

- LOTR Conquest. Do I even have to say anything about this bloody game? In my defence it was really cheap...

- Dragon Age Origins. Ugly, stupid, despised the story, bored me to tears.

I usually have a pretty good taste for these kinds of things, and looking back on these now, those games were all whim-based buys. Looks like deliberation saves money in this case.

I wish I could say "Shadow of the Colossus." Why? Well because it was boring as tar to watch and I never actually played it. A game in which you only fight boss fights? And the terrain is boring as crap with nothing in particular to look at? No secrets? Nothing? What a bore.

Granted the boss fights looked really cool and even the final one was awesome. But it seemed way too tedious, and it felt like they were the only exciting part of the game.

Other than that I can't think of anything.

Dead Island was an extremely boring letdown. A lot of my friends were playing it and told me it was a great game, so you can imagine my disappointment when I slogged through a few hours of shit for a $60 price-tag. After selling it I asked one of my friends why he liked it so much and his answer was pretty much "It has zombies and blood n' shit." -_-

I see this thread topic is turning into "recent games you hate".

I'm a bit surprised that there is no mention of this game

Everything about the game was dull as fuck. Hated every minute of it, but still forced myself to play since it was an easy platinum.

I don't know, those app games where it takes literally 5 hours to wait for upgrades couldn't be any more boring.

Also, something like Mario Kart Wii I personally find boring since none of it frikkin matters when the powerful power-ups pop up so often turning players from first to last in a couple of seconds, and I can't swirve for fun.

As I thought, most people have chosen fairly popular games which actually have redeeming features.

For me, however, I've played a lot of obscure titles, some of which really baffle the mind how they ever got published. One such game: The Watchmaker

http://www.amazon.co.uk/G2-Games-The-Watchmaker-PC/dp/B000087JRO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1355671388&sr=8-1

Sadly, I can't find any English versions uploaded on youtube, but don't doubt me when I say there's no redeeing features. Unspectacular story, terrible music, bog standard graphics, horrid voice acting, uninspired puzzles, mediocre level design... the list goes on:

KoToR. Please don't hit me!

The game has a lot of great aspects, but when it comes to the actual gameplay, it literally just puts me to sleep.

I really wish I could get through it though.
*Raises fists to beat to death.*

...Actually, you're kinda right. The combat is dictated by dice rolls, so there really isn't anything you can do about it in theory aside from build a good character. In practice, you can run around like a little girl and cast Force Lightning, thereby avoiding the opponents, but that's really it.

Boring combat, but great story. FINISH IT!

OT: Once I was playing a game of Flash Tetris. It lacked the quick drop function. It glitched and stayed on level one.

200 lines of Tetris, on level one, without the ability to quickly drop them? I made it to about twenty until even with the quicker movement option it was too slow for me, and I restarted.

Warhammer 40K Space Marine

The spectacle did not last 15 minutes, the moment the intro sequence is over, I was bored to no end, also, every mmo ever made past level 15, the progression starts slowing to a crawl and everything begins to feel like a grind.

I did the 14 day trial thing for WoW back in '06. In 2hr I was maxed out on everything and didn't enjoy the process of getting there.

God of War 2 and 2, Prototype, and Dragon Age. There are many, many games from pre-PS3 era I could cite but that's a lot.

Dear Esther ... actually no.

I'm going to generalise.

80% of "indie" games that manage to see the light of day ... especially "artsy" games.

They bore the absolute arse off me.

For me it's a toss-up between either Rage or Borderlands. Borderlands is just brown and filthy and never really appealed to me, even though there are boss fights which were alright but it just seemed like everything was too much the same. I also made the mistake of getting Borderlands thinking it was Rage. Then Rage came out and while that one lasted me a bit longer, it felt far too similar...only with boomerangs and RC cars that explode. Just boring, brown shooters with too few good bits to make me care.

World of Warcraft. I had fun traipsing around killing centaurs for a while. As soon as I reached max level, the game was over for me. Yes, I know they say that's when the game begins. I don't care about finding a piece of gear that's .5% better than the last one, or being required by my guild to use addons that create detailed pie charts of where my damage is coming from so I'll know how to improve my blah blah blah.....Nope, not doing it. If I wanted to manage spreadsheets I'd play EVE.

i love how this kinda thread always turns into "games i kinda don't like", people can't even bothered to reduce themselves to one game.
and really if you pick bioshock you seem to pick up very few games of excellent quality.

Chrono Trigger. I fell asleep multiple times over several days in an attempt to get through it, an attempt to like it, and it just wasn't happening.

Sure, I played it a console generation after it came out, having not been fortunate enough to have an SNES during its time, but the argument most people would make is that it's a timeless classic that stands up to the games that came after it. Of course, most of those are probably the same people who would give me grief for criticizing it when playing it after its time. Fans are funny people.

Either way, it doesn't hold up, and it probably never would have by my standards. Uninteresting gameplay aside, it's ugly (and not because it's an SNES game), its characters are ferociously annoying, Magus can go get run over by a train, and I'm no more fond of silent protagonists now than I was then. I tried to enjoy it, but it just couldn't hold me.

You mean that isn't Desert Bus, right?

DEAR ESTHER probably. Games are art and I'm all for experimentation, but this one can just fuck off, mainly because it wants the player to. It's frustrating because of the success and potential it showed too. Beautiful rendering of the Hebrides mountains and rivers and beaches and cave systems really showing off the source engine, but... The extent of your interaction with it is walking and looking while triggering random voice overs and occasionally a flashback. I've heard people defend the authorial intent of the design choices as sacred, "this is the story the dev wanted to tell" - but it could have done exactly what it wanted to and actually been ENGAGING and INTERESTING by incorporating a simple "use" or "interact" button. Objects in the wold are screaming to be examined and offer countless opportunities for the aforementioned voice overs to chime in regarding them. Denying the player participation in engaging the environmental narrative through volition could be written off as an artistic choice, but it doesn't make it a good idea.
