There are three songs in Final Fantasy IX that can get to me, though one of them gets to me the most. I'll pick that one last.

The first is called Assault Of The White Dragons. Quite possibly the most epic song in FF IX.

The second is You're Not Alone!. A beautiful piece of music. For those that have played the game, this might get to them as well due to when this song is played in FF IX.

And the one that gets to me the most is Melodies Of Life. Even more beautiful piece of music. Makes me tear up every time I listen to it.

Great game soundtrack in general, but this one is my favo:

Showing how beautiful just plain silence can be in musical pieces:

In a game soundtrack that wasn't really that good, the Lemuris overworld theme really stood out.

One of my favo game pieces from a great game.

One of my favo game pieces from a not so great sequel.

Another game with just great music in general, but some beautiful pieces just stand out.

I could just stand still in Monteriggioni listening to this.

I thought for a while that this was a piece of music called "Agnus Dei", but apparently it's actually just Adagio for Strings with a chorus. Personally, I think it's more beautiful than the original orchestra. And it's implemented so well... *sniff*
My list couldn't be complete without that one.

Edit:

Now I forget one of the most important ones:

Good choices op.

There's so many, um.

This explains the very final mission of the game very well.

There's one.

[spoi... You know what, I'll save some time by saying Final Fantasy in general has beautiful moving music.

I'd nearly completed that for the first time once, only needed a few more territories, then my HDD blew, c'est la vi.

I could go on but I think I'd be stuck here all day.

I remember Halo 3's final cutscene having music that particulary affected me.

Calling to The Night from the Metal Gear Series. Think it's first appearance was Portable Ops, but it was also included in MGS4 and Peace Walker.

Memories of you Orchestra Edition, the end theme from Persona 3, The ending just pounds the emotional value of the song in harder for me, Christ I love that game, and I will never forget blue haired Jesus, he had exquisite taste, he did.

After ten years, I'm somehow still in love with Marin. I should probably get that looked at, seeing as I bought my ex an ocarina and tried to convince her to learn this. It's not even that great, as Zelda music goes.

Emotional does not necessarily mean slow and "sad". Atleast not to me.
I really don't want to sound condescending or anything, it's just a thought.
Agreed entirely. Once upon a time the j-pop girls going on slowly about dreams and hope and such was somewhat moving to me, but I haven't really been emotionally accented by any in-game music in a long time, kind of burned out on more of the same-old same-old. That is until this:

Yes, from Splatterhouse on 360. Sweeping orchestral scores are nice, and operatic ballads are nice as well, *sighs* but I've not heard any in a great long while that, when combined with the established tone of the game, really generated any emotional reaction in me. Been there, done that a thousand times over. Five Finger Death Punch however, is another matter entirely. Energy, aggression, rancor, it all swells up with every roar and wailing guitar rip. With the rapid-fire of the double bass and the vengeful lyrics driving on, I am in the moment with Rick, ripping through everything in our way and glaring wildly, every motion and action screaming out "who's next" with baleful ire.

Again, "heartwarming"? No. Not really. "Moving" and "emotional"? Definitely.

I think this one is much more emotional since it was in all the battles. Just hearing it you remember all the goddamn battles and near wins and losses you had with the colossi:

Anyway, when I just hear "emotional video game song" I instantly, always think of this one:

(live opera version because I think the original MIDI hasn't aged well)

It's the first piece of music I tried to learn to play on the piano as a kid and I actually got the official sheet music and finally learned it a while ago.

The ending is one of the very few moments I was really touched because of the way Eva was talking about her.

The emotion may be LET'S FUCKING DO THIS SHIT but it's still an emotion.
Only sort of rap-ish song I like.
