I see all of your every song posted thus far and raise you Broken Promise from Dark Cloud

This song was used perfectly for the scenes it was in and is honestly made the scenes it was in really sad. I don't find many songs that are able to do this.

There's a second version of the song that's played on the piano that is more beautiful than sad. Amazing how the same song can seem so different depending on the instrument.

Emotional does not necessarily mean slow and "sad". Atleast not to me.
I really don't want to sound condescending or anything, it's just a thought.
Agreed entirely. Once upon a time the j-pop girls going on slowly about dreams and hope and such was somewhat moving to me, but I haven't really been emotionally accented by any in-game music in a long time, kind of burned out on more of the same-old same-old. That is until this:

Yes, from Splatterhouse on 360. Sweeping orchestral scores are nice, and operatic ballads are nice as well, *sighs* but I've not heard any in a great long while that, when combined with the established tone of the game, really generated any emotional reaction in me. Been there, done that a thousand times over. Five Finger Death Punch however, is another matter entirely. Energy, aggression, rancor, it all swells up with every roar and wailing guitar rip. With the rapid-fire of the double bass and the vengeful lyrics driving on, I am in the moment with Rick, ripping through everything in our way and glaring wildly, every motion and action screaming out "who's next" with baleful ire.

Again, "heartwarming"? No. Not really. "Moving" and "emotional"? Definitely.
While I disagree about recent games not instilling emotion with their music naowadays I can definately see where you're coming from there, one thing though, why in the blue blazes did the subber feel the need to ceser thy lyrcis despite not censering the song its self?
It makes no sense.

I can come up with a few energetic songs that leave me instilled with emotion

This is going to come across as really cliche, I know it... (sorry, I'm new and I don't know how to embed youtube clips)

The Legend Of Zelda: The Wind Waker - End Credits

It doesn't just feel like the send off for a game, it feels like a send-off for the entire series, beautiful and joyful, but still remarkably sad.

Earthbound - Smiles And Tears

I miss you...

Again, diff'rent strokes for diff'rent folks and all that. I do loves me some of the older Final Fantasy tunes, they just don't really move me in nearly the same manner.

On the censoring by the poster, I agree. Censorship has always been a very curious, if not outright insulting, concession to me, but this instance seemed outright odd...

On a side note, how do you do that posting of videos thing like that?

I'd have to say some of the guitar instrumentals from 'Metro 2033'.
When I started in the first Metro station I actually stopped for about 5min to listen to that guy playing near the fire.

You look at the youtube URL

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_RK_aR078Do

You copy everything after watch?v and put it in this: [*youtube*] just after youtube minus the "*" of course
EG. [*youtube=_RK_aR078Do*] but without the "*"

And to put it in spoiler tags just
[*spoiler*] what you want to say or embed here [*/spoiler*] again without the "*"
hope that helps.

And if you want to change the default spoiler message just put
in the first half of the spoiler tags.

Well, I can agree with the OP about Halo's soundtrack being mostly "emotional". What annoys me is that it does not in any way fit the mood of the game.
Music: (made up lyrics) "Remembering the voices that once were....hear them now.....on the wind...."
Gameplay: SHOOT THE ALIENS! Get to cover! THROW A FRAG GRENADE!

Anyway, two of my favorites. One is the very foreboding song "Last End" or "Final Hours" from Majora's Mask.

Secondly, I would just say the ENTIRE soundtrack to Aquaria, but I'll just pick this one.

And I think we can all agree on Aeris' theme (specifically, the one that plays when she dies, and carries through to the boss fight just after)

I think this one is much more emotional since it was in all the battles. Just hearing it you remember all the goddamn battles and near wins and losses you had with the colossi:
When it comes to the SotC battle themes I prefer these two:

The ending music for Klonoa

Not because the music itself is anything special, but because it pushes the right emotional buttons to fit the ending.

This. Not only is it a great song and really well chosen for the style of the game but it's timing and how it fits the mood was just... yeah. Wow.
This song represented closure so well.
