I don't get how in Inception...wait.
I don't get how DiCaprio's totem would help. The point of the totem is to prevent other people from fabricating a dream and screwing you over, right? The Asian guy's rug was a good example, 'cause how the hell were they meant to know what kind of texture it would have. This anomaly made him realise it's not real. However, DiCaprio's spinning top is so obvious. All anyone who is trying to trick him would have to do is make it fall over.

Furthermore, at the end they use it to imply that he might still be dreaming. However, if it's your own dream, can't you just imagine it falling over? The totems are there to stop others from tricking you, I thought. What's to stop you from tricking yourself, assuming you're so messed up you can't tell dream from reality anymore? Is there some dream-law which says your totem never lies?

And why did they never dream anything cool? If I could control my dreams I'd create some fucking dragons or something and give myself wings, not pull stupid mirrors out of nowhere. There are mirrors in real life.

Other than that,

Why did jesus have to die? I'm not kidding you, it doesn't make the slightest bit of sense to me. He died for our sins, but couldn't God have just chosen to forgive us without, you know, having his son suffer an agonising death? I'm not even bible bashing. Please explain this because I've obviously missed something HUGE.

EDIT: I probably didn't need to put the second one in spoiler tags, but whatever.
In regards to the second spoiler, God is good but he is also just. According to the Bible he cant just straight forgive sins because that would not be fair. There would have to be a sacrifice that would be equal to atonement ie Jesus. Because Jesus was pure and never sinned, his pure sacrifice was neccessary for anyone after him to be able to be redeemed. (not claiming or denouncing any faith just reciting from my old baptist school.

So, I've been meaning to ask all the Escapists about this one for ages. It's Halo Reach.

Okay, so in the second last mission of the game it's revealed that that Doctor Lady has discovered something underground in an alien temple, a "latchkey discovery" she calls it. Turns out it's Cortana, the AI you spend the rest of the entire Halo series hanging out with. So the final mission is to deliver this AI to Captain Keyes, on the Pillar of Autumn. As everyone knows, this is the ship you (the Master Chief) is on at the beginning of the first Halo game. It's explained at the beginning of that game that the Pillar of Autumn did a pretty much random slip space drive jump to avoid leading the Covenant fleet to Earth. Your job is then to escort Cortana off the ship and avoid the enemy capturing her.
SO the problem is: HOW THE HELL DOES CORTANA KNOW ALL THIS STUFF? We just dug her out of the ground a few hours ago, tops! Yet she acts like she's known the Captain, the crew and the Covenant for years! She apparently even knows Master Chief, who's been in cryo genic sleep the whole time!

Come to think of it, I'm pretty sure the manual for Combat Evolved straight up tells you Cortana is one of the most advanced AI's ever constructed by the human race. But we just dug her up! And how on earth did she "choose" the Master Chief as the Spartan she wanted to "work with"?! And what did she mean by "work with"?! She just got dug up, she has no idea where she's going, she has no idea they'll accidently end up at the first Halo ring, she has no idea what it does!

I'm sorry, I loved Reach, but the discovery that the pay load was Cortana was totally bogus. It was a pointless "Aha!" moment directed at fan boys at the complete expense of the continuity of the storyline.

Star Wars Episode 2:

If the jedi aren't allowed to love, why were two obviously consenting 19-to-20-something-year-olds sent on an all expenses paid vacation to the planet-o-love?

I think Plinkett had far more material there than he actually used.
This itself is a plot hole, because the Force is supposed to run strong in certain bloodlines (said by both Yoda and Obi-Wan in the original trilogy) and it is important for families with strong ties to the force to pass on their knowledge, then all of the sudden the Jedi have this Catholic Priest complex that they aren't supposed to marry? Yeah, the idea that there is some semblance of continuity between the original series and the prequel trilogy is silly.
Original series had no problem with ignoring continuity and then making stuff up later. *Cough* Vader killed your father. *Cough* Why can't the prequels do the same? Not to mention all the other stuff that just doesn't make sense, 1 man plots millions of people against each other destroys the jedi order and forgets that a few laser blasts from the outside makes their planet destroyer explode? Vader goes past the point of no return then returns from the point of no return? Why can't the ghost jedi's do anything if they were made more powerful than before? Reminders to use the force is tape recorder power. Why is there no DNA protection so that someone other than a clone will be noticed if they're walking around as storm troopers? Isn't the emperor the most powerful sith to ever live at that point? Why couldn't he find luke?
Hell the whole Death Star itself wasn't really the brightest idea. when your star fleet already has a strangle hold on the galaxy but is being pestered by guerilla tactics, why commit so much resource and man power on a single massive slow moving battle station that's going to instantly have a huge target painted on it every resistance force? What strategic use is there in completely blowing up a planet when an orbital bombardment would get the same message across? I mean I guess if you're an evil emperor it would be a cool toy to build, but in the long run the Empire eventually lost because the big toy they didn't really need became a rally point for the rebellion to strike a critical blow.

Ok, so what...Cortana was made by the Forerunners? What? I mean, I guess that explains how the Autumn's random jump lead them to the Halo(it was random, right?), but I thought she has no idea what the Halos are! Even once she's plugged into it's computer system it takes her a while to figure it out! Well, how does that work? And one other thing! When she's given to Noble team, you see that she's about twice the size of a soda can. Yet when Master Chief recieves her (mere hours after you give her to Keys) she fits in the back of his head! WELL, HOW DOES THAT WORK??!!

Is that from a specific passage you can remember? I'm not saying you're wrong, I just don't remember that part.

Ha, pretty much the entire series of Dragonball, Why don't trunks and goten fuse and beat the crap out of everyone? Why don't they go along with Goku when he goes off to save the galaxy with Pan, the weakest character in the universe? Why is Pan alive? Why does Gohan, the coolest character ever fall to the wayside, while the brats fuse and save the world? etc. etc.
Dragon ball had the most coherent story till Z and then GT just made it worse.

Mordin when working on his countermeasures has a collector swarm bug to work on. Where the hell did we get one of those? So much for no trace eh?

What?
I thought she was made by a Brain scan like all AI's. I was expecting the "Aha!" to be that she was a brain scan of Dr "I made the Spartans".

How did the hooker pamphlets get into the vault?
When they disguised themselves as SWAT troops, they brought the bags in with them. These were filled with hooker pamphlets.
Nope, SWAT got there after the bags came up the elevator. They were getting there as the bags were leaving.
1. They had inside help so there?
2. The circus guy did it, I mean circus people can do anything.

Ok this is not plot complaints or I could go on forever, but holes.

In LOTR I am not sure if it is a hole but the scene when the two hobbits are tied up then their ork keepers are attacked. Their hands are tied, then in one scene hobbit rolls and hands are now untied. What did I miss?

Unfortunately, there are not that many passages that clearly define what and why (other than the obvious) supposedly if one was to study the Bible in reference to the times that it was written this would be the conclusion that you would arrive to.

There is a part where a Valkyria destroys an army but once you get her on your team she is useless and apperently her god powers go away

So are there any plot holes that made no sense at all to you?
At least in the third one there is a Valkyria that is part of the Numbers who has the lance, shied and flames AND uses the particle beam and gattling attacks.

When you think of the number of processes, calculations, and etc that computers can do in a second, it is possible that she lived numerous lifetimes studying and analyzing data when she was retrieved but as far as how she was constructed by man in Halo:CE but found in Halo Reach that you would have to ask Bungie.

this one made my nipples explode

At the end of Buffy the Vampire Slayer season 5
Dawn is the key thing [sub]that whole sub plot was stupid but that's not what I'm on about[/sub]
and when she starts to bleed all the gates to hell or where ever open up.
In order to close the gates Buffy has to stop Dawn from bleeding.
They already decided that the fastest way to stop Dawn from bleeding would be to kill her.
Instead of killing Dawn, Buffy jumps off the crane and dies.
The gates close. Dawn, the Key is still bleeding. What The Fuck.

not to mention that they spent the first half of the season saying that the Key could be anything. An animal, a tree, a rock, a person. then at the end they say that the only way to use the Key is to make it bleed? What if it had been a rock?

1. The only people in on it were the eleven Ocean hired. Sure you could argue the Russian guy was part of it but he doesn't have access to the vault and I am sure he didn't know what Danny was actually doing in the vent.
2. Still no. There was only one point he was in the vault and we saw how he got there. There are barely any room for him in that thing, let alone 6 bags of hooker pamphlets.

They probably could have used common sense and ruled out "rock" then. The wording implies it can be anything that bleeds. Anything other than that is a slip of the tongue.

I was expecting that too. Especially when I thought the Doctor might have the same voice actress as Cortana. But even if that was the case, it still doesn't fit with the timeline. DAMNIT BUNGIE!!!

That reminds me.

AI's have a life span, arround 7 years or so before their thought pattens become circular and they are unable to finish a given task or thought.
Now I'd be willing to accept that the forerunners could get around this issue and create an AI that can both learn yet not have thought pathways link up like ours, but the AI we're discussing talks about feeling the effects in, I think it's First Strike.

Star Trek (the new movie): Massive amounts of spoilers, i think someone actually makes a list of them all somewhere, if someone could like to it that would be swell.

Anyway plot holes include: - the main character advancing his career from student at the military academy to captain of the Federation's flag ship in 1 fell swoop
- the main character being thrown out of said ship after committing some sort of crime (ok..) and conveniently finding the future version of another main character and they then proceed to save the world (which the other main character couldh've done by himself at any possible time!).
- again, the other main characters can, by changing some equation, completely revolutionize transporter technologie in mere moments, allowing them to transport to a spaceship travelling at warp speed billions of km's away while previously they had trouble locking on to guy falling down a planet's atmosphere because "They were falling too fast" --> FFS
