I don't get how in Inception...wait.
I don't get how DiCaprio's totem would help. The point of the totem is to prevent other people from fabricating a dream and screwing you over, right? The Asian guy's rug was a good example, 'cause how the hell were they meant to know what kind of texture it would have. This anomaly made him realise it's not real. However, DiCaprio's spinning top is so obvious. All anyone who is trying to trick him would have to do is make it fall over.

Furthermore, at the end they use it to imply that he might still be dreaming. However, if it's your own dream, can't you just imagine it falling over? The totems are there to stop others from tricking you, I thought. What's to stop you from tricking yourself, assuming you're so messed up you can't tell dream from reality anymore? Is there some dream-law which says your totem never lies?

And why did they never dream anything cool? If I could control my dreams I'd create some fucking dragons or something and give myself wings, not pull stupid mirrors out of nowhere. There are mirrors in real life.

Other than that,

Why did jesus have to die? I'm not kidding you, it doesn't make the slightest bit of sense to me. He died for our sins, but couldn't God have just chosen to forgive us without, you know, having his son suffer an agonising death? I'm not even bible bashing. Please explain this because I've obviously missed something HUGE.

EDIT: I probably didn't need to put the second one in spoiler tags, but whatever.
Well I can explain the bible part, You see when we lived in the old testament days, God was very strict and we all had to sacrifice an animal once a week for our sins at the alter in repentence for our sins, however this process was quite troublesome, however God brought mercy on us all with HIS OWN sacrifices. Just like how we had to bring a lamb up for slaughter that must have nothing wrong with it, God brought his own son (Jesus, aka the Lamb of God) to sacrifice as he was the perfect human who had no flaws. So in other words, God drastically reduced the requirements to get into heaven.
By doing this we would no longer have to constantly go about sacrificing animals at the alter and instead all we would have to do is follow the new Testament's teachings and repent.

I hope I explained this the best I could and if you have any other questions, feel free to message me.

Ha, pretty much the entire series of Dragonball, Why don't trunks and goten fuse and beat the crap out of everyone? Why don't they go along with Goku when he goes off to save the galaxy with Pan, the weakest character in the universe? Why is Pan alive? Why does Gohan, the coolest character ever fall to the wayside, while the brats fuse and save the world? etc. etc.
Dragon ball had the most coherent story till Z and then GT just made it worse.

So, I've been meaning to ask all the Escapists about this one for ages. It's Halo Reach.

Okay, so in the second last mission of the game it's revealed that that Doctor Lady has discovered something underground in an alien temple, a "latchkey discovery" she calls it. Turns out it's Cortana, the AI you spend the rest of the entire Halo series hanging out with. So the final mission is to deliver this AI to Captain Keyes, on the Pillar of Autumn. As everyone knows, this is the ship you (the Master Chief) is on at the beginning of the first Halo game. It's explained at the beginning of that game that the Pillar of Autumn did a pretty much random slip space drive jump to avoid leading the Covenant fleet to Earth. Your job is then to escort Cortana off the ship and avoid the enemy capturing her.
SO the problem is: HOW THE HELL DOES CORTANA KNOW ALL THIS STUFF? We just dug her out of the ground a few hours ago, tops! Yet she acts like she's known the Captain, the crew and the Covenant for years! She apparently even knows Master Chief, who's been in cryo genic sleep the whole time!

Come to think of it, I'm pretty sure the manual for Combat Evolved straight up tells you Cortana is one of the most advanced AI's ever constructed by the human race. But we just dug her up! And how on earth did she "choose" the Master Chief as the Spartan she wanted to "work with"?! And what did she mean by "work with"?! She just got dug up, she has no idea where she's going, she has no idea they'll accidently end up at the first Halo ring, she has no idea what it does!

I'm sorry, I loved Reach, but the discovery that the pay load was Cortana was totally bogus. It was a pointless "Aha!" moment directed at fan boys at the complete expense of the continuity of the storyline.

Ok, so what...Cortana was made by the Forerunners? What? I mean, I guess that explains how the Autumn's random jump lead them to the Halo(it was random, right?), but I thought she has no idea what the Halos are! Even once she's plugged into it's computer system it takes her a while to figure it out! Well, how does that work? And one other thing! When she's given to Noble team, you see that she's about twice the size of a soda can. Yet when Master Chief recieves her (mere hours after you give her to Keys) she fits in the back of his head! WELL, HOW DOES THAT WORK??!!
I have not made it to this part yet (I really need to finish the campaign), but Cortana's history is covered in the books. She was made well before the invasion of Reach from a scan of Dr.Halsey's brain (I cannot remember the proper technobabbel). She already met Master Chief, the Captain, and the Covenant. She's human tech, not Forerunner. The Autumn's jump wasn't really random...Cortana translated co-ordinates from a Forerunner artifact that the Blue Team Spartans recovered from the Covenant. She was curious, so she used those intead of randomly choosing them.

About the size, I have not seen the scene, but it is notable that Noble Team is mostly comprised of Spartan-IIIs, which are physically smaller than Spartan-IIs. Total shot in the dark, but that may explain the random size change. (For a frame of reference, the big guy is the only Spartan-II on the team).

Fable II
When Lucien arrives at hero hill I would have shot him the moment he said your familys dead, and not let him shoot my dog and then me.

Still, it was a good ending (except the Boss)

In LOTR I am not sure if it is a hole but the scene when the two hobbits are tied up then their ork keepers are attacked. Their hands are tied, then in one scene hobbit rolls and hands are now untied. What did I miss?
It might've been cut out in the theatrical version, but in the extended version it shows Merry cutting himself free on one of the dead orc's daggers. It's a lot like how the one scene that set up Boromir's entire character was edited.

And, again, I ask:

WHY IN HELL'S BAD NAME DID LINK TURN INTO A WOLF?!

1. Why didn't you orbital bomb those tree huggers
2. Just drop two tank on top of their main base :p
3. How they are able to sharpen the spears but they can go through bullet proof gas. I mean if you can sharpen them, so they can't be too hard... (my logic may be flawed, don't be ass holes when proving it)
4. Maybe I am just being a baby because the bad guys won.
My issue with that movie is that they spend all this time saying they are after a mineral then blow up the only thing stopping them from getting it yet they completely ignore it to try to wipe out the aliens for no better reason than assholeism.

hate to rehash all this....but you know....that marine was sent in there to tell the natives that they were just sitting ontop of the stuff they wanted and they would have probably gladly moved when asked...not sleep with some blue chic...oh and by the by blatant rip off of fern gully and pocahuntus with a smear of halo over the top

Ok, so....Cortana was made by humans using forerunner tech, then? Because in Reach, you find her in a massive underground forerunner structure, so I assumed she was an ancient forerunner AI. But your explanation makes more sense. And I suppose the soda-can thing I was talking about could have been some kind of storage unit, like a substitute for Master Chief's head.

Cortana wasn't the latchkey, she was studying it. She was a clone of Dr Halsey and had been around for a few months. As for the latchkey, my only guess was it was the giant purple ball found behind the lab.

Jacob's loyalty mission. The ship had been crashed for ten years, devoid of any contact with the outside world, and yet they are using the very recently developed mechs and thermal clip based weapons.

There were a couple of others in the game, but this one really stuck out!

I still think the most glaring plothole in the movie was the way everything just united against the humans, though.
Everything united against the humans because the planet was a sentient being.

Yeah and what about when

when jack can amazingly destroy 2 giant YMCA mechs like nothing then can barely do anything when in actual combat

Turn the volume up next time, you can actually hear him speaking to them in another language.

Much of what you see as a plot hole in that film needs a bit of volume or a slow down.

Biggest plot hole(s) for me would have to be (obvious): 300: How did the story of the death-sphere at the end get told if the persians didn't tell it ;) (Poetic License)

Any time travel episode of Star Trek

Pretty much any X-Files "here-is-an-alien-no-wait-its-a-human-conspiracy" episode or plot twist.

The entirety of 24's lack of urination.

Why the Hell did Link turn into a wolf in Twilight Princess? It still baffles me, to this very goddang day.
Link had the Triforce of Courage, this somehow turns him into his animal form rather than a ghost somehow.

I have one, just to name a few. In Series Five of Heroes, the events of Series One are depicted as being two and a half years ago, despite very probably being shorter, yet Matt Parkman's son is still a baby when he should be a young toddler at least by this point.

Ok, maybe not the most obvious but it didn't make a lot of sense to me at the time.
