Noone else could beat him, unless there is an un heard of cryptonite man, which really wouldn't surprise me coming from his universe.
There is actually a villain called "Kryptonite Man" (which I find kinda dumb; a fictional guy named for a fictional element): http://www.comicvine.com/kryptonite-man/29-35739/

superman obviously, he is more powerful than the hulk by far, and he has only one weakness. (this is also the reason i dont like him, superhero's should not be near immortal).

Yeah, now that you remind me, the heroes did things that were either a complete stretch of your imagination (Superman being able to time travel) to downright silly (Read: Batman The Black Casebook TPB, you'll see what I mean) in the Silver Age.
I think Silver age should be renamed to "Trololol". Everything really was a job for Superman then, but they obviously realised that and calmed him the fuck down.

Either way, Flash beats Soupes IMO. He has a whole host of powers that can kill 90% of the physical heroes in a head on fight.

Has anyone saying Superman is bland etc actually read more then one or two comics? Look at something like All Star Superman or other well written comics if you haven't, I find most of the time when people bash his character, they barely know anything about him.

He's not my favorite hero, but he is not bland.

Dr. Manhattan for sure. Is that guy even alive by definition? Also, having a 3-some with two of him AND getting some solid research done at the same time is just pure awesome. Any researcher here knows how hard it is to be in the mood for some bed sport when the experiment just doesn't want to work.

More powerful than Hulk? Not a chance in hell I'm sorry. The Hulk just needs the right amount of anger in his heart and he'll kill anyone tangible, so Soupes ain't taking this one. And World War Hulk essentially proves that one.

EDIT: And I'm gonna be a dick and plug the Comic Book Group. http://www.escapistmagazine.com/groups/view/Comic-Book-group

And god help the supervillains if he gets a green lantern ring.
Read the "Black as Night" Comics, awesomeness! I would say flash, If he wanted to, he could move his molecules so quickly that he could jump to the marvel universe, rip out hulks heart. Run back to the DC universe replace superman's heart with the hulk, run back to give superman's heart to the hulk. Then watch the madeness... MUHAHAHAHAHA!

Maybe not the most powerful, but I always thought the Martian Manhunter was awesome. I mean Super strength, speed, shapeshifting, flight, mind reading, can travel through walls, and more. The phasing through things alone makes him a god damn hack.

Then you're wrong. The Flash is so hax it's not even funny. He can touch you and make you explode! I'd even put him above silver age Superman, and that's saying something.
Deathstroke can take The Flash on. Move at a million miles an hour all you want, but he knows where you're -going- before you do.

A lot of people don't like superman because they think he's too powerful and therefore you can't have a good story with him. Grant Morrison's All Star Superman is the definitive superman story because it understands that superman's powers are not a hinderance; they're a help. Superman can go anywhere. Do anything. Play fetch with Krypto in space, keep a pet star eater, arm wrestle gods, time travel, go into completely alternate dimensions, it's all good.

I this books is a real kick in the teath for a lot of people who acuse Superman of not being a great character because he's too powerful, especially considering Superman is actually made more powerful in about the first 4 pages of the comic. Give him a good writer Superman's options are limitless.

Also Supermans faces a lot of villains who are more than a match for him. Doomsday, Brainiac, or Kryptonians (Superman is apparantly one of about 1000 or so last sons of Krypton). If your only source is the movies where Luthor (and Nukular Man *wretch*) is the only guy ever used for some bizare reason you may think that Superman never meets his match, but he does.

Everyone says Superman, and as much as I don't doubt it...He HAS been beaten...to DEATH. Doomsday and Superman literally beat each other to death. Though I guess his coming back meant he wasn't actually dead he was hibernating or some crap. I didn't read it all but:
Death of Superman [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Death_of_Superman]

Superman is no longer the most powerful superhero in existence, just the smartest of the strongest. He can be matched by the Shazam mortals, Captain Marvel and Black Adam, easily. Moreover, they can beat the shit out of him because Superman has a weakness to magic. Also, there is the murderous Superman-Prime who is stronger than Superman because he has no mental blocks to prevent him from tearing through 9-inch steel like paper.

Also, recently, there is an entire planet full of "Supermen" on New Krypton, none of them with mental blocks.

His weakness to magic also means that Wonder Woman's sword forged by Hephaestus can penetrate Superman's milimetre thin forcefield. Superman also has a weakness to high-tier psionics.

Give Superman a Green Lantern ring, and I agree, he would rule the bloody universe. One of the strongest wills in the universe and the ability to overcome great fear, would annihilate anyone. Also, since Superman's cognitive abilities are genius level and can think as fast as the speed of light, any Lantern would be hard pressed fighting him.

The only thing that makes Superman strong is his ingenuity, his ability to use his powers in new and interesting ways. He rarely powers up to maximum, as he refers to this state as "being in a world full of cardboard", unless he fights Darkseid or any of the New Gods.

Is that the one where

He is slowly becoming more powerful and intelligent but he's also slowly dying?
Because that was a good one. I remember reading that one when i used to buy the cheap fortnightly comics that had multiple stories in them. I also remember reading Supergirl when she was fighting her darker self and Luthor was getting his Iron Man on:

Bear Grylls, he will not stop until the entire universe's supply of protein is consumed and is absolutely unstoppable.
