Probably teaching you basic mechanics.

HL is hazy on my mind because I haven't played it for ages, so I don't remember if you had to use the crowbar to solve anything. I used it a lot anyway.

Anything in God of War that wasn't the swords on chains. If the game hadn't physically forced me to use the other alternatives they'd have been gathering dust in, errrr, where the hell does Kratos keep this shit?
Hades, or he should anyway. If I was him I'd be sign up for a season pass and a locker with Pluto quicksmart.
While he's at it, he should start collecting frequent dyer miles. Ho ho ho.

I used the fatman for FO3 all the time.
Remember this, my young Padawan - everyone can pull the trigger of Big, Bad Weapon of Mass Destruction and call himself Max Overdose afterwards, but true warriors o' Wastelands are capable of slaughtering Mutant Behemoth with butter knife. ;P

CoD shotguns, smgs, lmgs and sniper rifles. Assault rifles have the power, range and accuracy to outgun any of them.

The Bubble Gun from Earthworm Jim 2. I honestly think it didn't do ANYTHING. Other than be funny.

Other than that, Growl and the various other "lowers defense/attack" moves in Pokemon. Outside of a very few specific situations, there is nearly always a more effective or useful move choice. I deliberately didn't choose Splash because, honestly, its too obvious.
Didn't Just Cause 2 have a bubble gun too?
Yep. It was about as effective too.

This.

The Bubble Gun literally did nothing. In fact, in the last stage it was used as an obstacle to slow you down in the race with Psycrow. It did zero damage and had no effect on enemies.

Then again, maybe the very fact that it was DESIGNED to be useless actually makes it LESS useless than the other weapons on the list. Like, "Yeah, it's useless, but that's what it's supposed to be. The other weapons WEREN'T supposed to suck."

Skill, in World of Warcraft.

You don't need it at all.
to be honest, this applys to almost all 'hot-key' MMOs

i'm gonna go fairly obscure with mine,

Top Spin - Mega Man 3
its got no range, only useful on 2 bosses, one of which is stupidly fast, and your more likely to TAKE damage then do damage

any 'time stop' weapon - Mega Man as series
with the exception of the Flash Stopper from 2, there is no real use for any of these 'weapons' and half the time they don't really work

The splash attack from the pokemon series.

END OF TOPIC.
Is that a weapon? Probably. If it counts, this.

OT: Dagger from FFI. Only suitable for Black Mages and Thieves, who should respectively be using magic (possibly with a staff) and swords.

Anything other than the use of magic in Fable 3 was utterly pointless. Hold down one button and clear or decimate ten enemies at once, or spend ten minutes firing a slow reloading flintlock at wolfmen that can dodge any attack. Oh and here's a sword/axe, just because we think you'd look cool.
As someone who always plays as a melee character... I disagree. Although I did end up using a fair bit of magic (ice storm + shock), but then I'd run around smashing faces with a hammer while all the enemies are having seizures.

I dunno. I find submachine guns to be incredibly powerful in CoD:MW2. A suppressed H&K UMP .45ACP is ridiculously effective at all ranges, and the H&K MP-5K with Steady Aim makes a great rushing weapon since you'll never even need to bother with iron sights.

Anywho... most of the weapons I'd mention for the topic have been taken, like the Klobb and Needler. So I'll go with every single weapon in the first Dead Rising except for the juggling chainsaws dropped by the clown psychopath. Ridiculously powerful, and if you carried all of the magazines that increased their durability you could end up with a single chainsaw with the lifespan of something like 27 chainsaws. So now you've got an incredibly powerful weapon that's comparatively indestructable and tons of free inventory space left over for gallon bottles of coffee creamer to chug later on the off chance that something actually manages to get past your chainsaw.

Halo: Reach's DMR and Halo 2+3's Battle Rifle are in my opinion tied for the most useless weapon. While many people are going to say otherwise, I say there is no use for the weapon. The Assault Rifle can quite easily handle anything medium-range and closer much more effectively, and for regular ranges for the DMR, you can either use the much more effective Magnum or Sniper Rifle. Battle Rifle gets the same criticism. I never really understood why anyone liked them to begin with.

For me, the Archimedes orbital laser cannon was pretty damn useless. Don't get me wrong, it was awesome to see it fire, and cool to know that you just called in an orbital strike, but the single use you got each day wasn't all that effective. It might be able to kill a few Fiends or Powder Gangers, but I could deal with them with a few shots from a scoped rifle (modded out Hunting rifle or Varmint rifle). And it hardly did anything against Radscorpions or Death Claws.
Wait what?! You mean you could use that thing outside of HELIOS 1? I've done 2 epic playthroughs and I never knew that, I remember thinking, "wouldn't it be cool to use this out side of HELIOS 1." but apparently I always could :(

Well dammit

FatMan from Fallout 3.
It causes "save for later, never use" syndrome. :|
Play with Mart's Monster Mod and say that. The FatMan was essential with that mod.
