The Gravity Gun.

Yes everything can be used for ammunition, yes its an impressive use of physics but I found it didn't have much of a punch unless you had a saw blade, difficult to aim and in many cases left me wide open to attack while I was trying to pick up something decent to shoot with from the piles of crap left lying around.
Did you not enjoy painting headcrab zombies white? Redecorating rooms? I thought that was a blast. Still, I did prefer, say, the shotgun for actual lethality.

Any sniper rifle in Borderlands.

I loved the idea of the hunter with SR subclass, for the fluff of the concept and because hell, I could, in theory, one or two hit kill and pick off dudes from across the desert before they could reach me to beat my head in. a sound strategy.

I then realized that unless you score a headshot, you could spend an entire clip trying to kill one dude, and scoring a headshot was next to impossible because the area of affect (idk the technical term) was so tiny it was equivalent to hitting a pinhead with a fucking dart at range. My character was about as useful to the party as Navi.
Hitbox I believe the term is. I couldn't get into sniping because of the bullets not going where I point the gun at. Not cool doing that on SR's Borderlands, not cool.

OT: Ratchet & Clank 2: the Clank backpack laser thing. You get it so late, and it does so little damage. The Tesla Shield and mini turrets were also passive weapons that did more dps by a long shot.

I'm going with the melee weapons in Fallout 3 too. I think I used the nail board once and the last play through I knew well enough to use the fat man when it was either:

A. called for or
B. REALLY funny

Other than that, the laser pistol from Quake 2. The shotgun was literally two rooms away.

The splash attack from the pokemon series.

END OF TOPIC.
DAMN, total ninja.

OT: since my first suggestion was already taken, I'm going for the poke attack from the worms series. Admittedly I have used it to effect on a number of occasions but since your victim needs to be sitting on the very cusp of a cliff to be pushed off the the briney depths it's a victory of circumstance which makes you feel like a total badass but is otherwise completely useless.

Although it is the ultimate insult to your opponent. Well to be fair if he placed his guy that close to an edge, he basically deserves what' coming to him.

EDIT: multi-ninjad. ah well, shoulda read everything first...

That fecking 'Organic' mine gun from Resistance. What the hell, I had to get like 2 feet from the enemy, wait until enough mines spread then hit the detonate button before they moved out of the way. In less time I could stick a Hedgehog Grenade behind their cover and pin four of those feckers to the walls. Just another example that going 'Organic' means I can't properly blow something up with it! Get real mines you hippies!

Codac R9000 camera from Fallout: New Vegas
Yeah, this thing. You can only use it for one quest, and you can't get rid of it without console commands.

All it does is clutter your weapons inventory. Hell, it being there is the only reason it can be called a weapon.

And while I have not played any MLG matches, I have watched a few, and half of the games I have seen used Assault Rifles. I do not directly remeber any distinct gamertags or clans or teams, as I don't keep up enough with that to recognize them.
Direct lie = argument invalidated. MLG does not feature the assault rifle. It is not available. Anywhere. Professional players simply do not use it.

No, whoever shoots first is not guaranteed to win a BR duel, as the other player can move to avoid headshots, and take headshots himself, thus winning. In an AR duel, there is no dodging to be done, he has been shot first and will always die unless the other player is so stupid he didn't reload first.

The AR is the cheap way to get kills, as it does not require any aiming skill at all. The BR involves aiming skill, and so is of less use to the unskilled player. The AR can be used with discipline, I agree, but the BR is a weapon of disciplined aiming.

This argument is immensely frustrating. At this stage I'm simply tempted to assume you're a troll.

EDIT: Sorry, not a troll, just unskilled. As evidenced by your 0.45 ranked KDR and 0.78 social KDR, in less than 200 games of Halo 3. Clearly you were just speaking from ignorance. Never mind.

The knife in Battlefield 3. If you're not directly behind them it's entirely pointless, no matter how close you are. Hell even the NPC's in the Campaign are better at using a Knife than you.

That's not even including the feasablity of bringing a knife to a gun fight in the first place.

Everything in Halo 1 besides the pistol, seriously the pistol was flawless in that game and OP as hell, using anything else by choice made no sense, especially the plasma rifle which I affectionately called the Super Soaker.

The giant's knife in ocarina of time. You know, the one that shattered after about two hits and became pretty much useless?

I'd say the impact hammer from UT3. I mean, when the player can carry around 10 guns at a time, why the fuck would you use a melee weapon? It says that the alt fire, an emp blast, can knock a powerup off a player, but you never use it because unreal tournament isn't a game where you get up close and personal, it's a game where there are big maps and people are content at shooting each other at medium range! You just never use it because there are *bigger* and *better* things to kill people with.
The impact hammer doesn't have to be used soley for killing/damaging people, it can also be used for trick jumping which can be invaluable when spawn raping in 1v1 and for doing cheese in nwCTF.

You'd also be surprised how useful the shield gun is in close encounters, though admittedly I'm speaking with no experience from UT3 and experience from UT99, UT2003 and UT2004.
Yeah, the shield gun does have its uses, but I'm talking about the impact hammer in UT3. I mean, people keep each other at a distance to the point that the impact hammer is just... there. You have it, you just never use it since it would be so impractical.
