Extraordinarily useful with Mythic skulls on, when overcharged plasma bolt doesn't insta drain their shields. It was also great with an SMG in Halo 2.ZehMadScientist said:This thing in the Halo games:

I'd have to completely agree with this. The melee in Fable 3 was dog shit compared to the guns, which were awful compared to the magic. The most horrible thing about it is that magic was badly overpowered even in Fable 2, and instead of fixing the problem they made it far worse.MrRetroSpectacles said:Anything other than the use of magic in Fable 3 was utterly pointless. Hold down one button and clear or decimate ten enemies at once, or spend ten minutes firing a slow reloading flintlock at wolfmen that can dodge any attack. Oh and here's a sword/axe, just because we think you'd look cool.
That is untill the end of HL2 when it became over powered and could throw people. But before that point I completely agree. It was useless. Though the most useless weapon i've encountered is probably the Alternative Fire mode for the Shotgun in Painkiller. it was hard to hit with slow to fire and all it did was temporarily nullify an enemy's armor for 5 seconds. Yes everything can be used for ammunition, yes its an impressive use of physics but I found it didn't have much of a punch unless you had a saw blade, difficult to aim and in many cases left me wide open to attack while I was trying to pick up something decent to shoot with from the piles of crap left lying around.
while i understand this is an opinion, i feel i have to disagree. true in pitched battles with the combine it can be a bit underpowered, but it rocks against zombies. not to mention it made good moveable cover, like say picking up a barrel running into a soldiers face at launching it at him. goood times.A Username Not In Use said:People are proberbly going to yell at me for this but I don't care;

I disagree whole-heartedly. Sniper rifles were awesome in ME1, you could oneshot any normal enemy, and assassinate Armatures with no problem. I think ME2 made sniper rifles way worse.AD-Stu said:Sniper rifles were next to useless in Mass Effect 1, though they managed to fix that for the second game.
Does that count Unarmed? Try creating a Melee/Unarmed character and choosing a lot of melee based perks. It is very enjoyable and they aren't useless at all.silent299 said:Since firearms are so common, I would have to say pretty much any melee weapon in Fallout 3 or Fallout: New Vegas.
Can I just say that I agree with you completely, Bobmus; Spartan 448 doesn't have a clue what he's talking about. He seems to have confused 'less effective' with 'takes more skill'. Especially when he talks about BR users 'cowardly' staying out of the fight to get 'easy skills', it's really obvious he means people playing effectively stamping him into the dirt again and again because he keeps trying to rush them with an AR.TheBobmus said:*Snip*
Upgrade a +10 version of that with one of the boss souls and you get an amazing weapon from it. The stats to actually use it are a bit on the ridiculous side though.Scizophrenic Llama said:Dark Souls' broken straight sword. You'd be quicker using your fists, really.

Thanks to AI quirks you could take down Armatures easily with any weapon though. My point was that 99% of the enemies in the game are engaged at ranges that make the sniper rifle impractical at best and useless at worst. I guess there were spots where you could choose to use it over, say, the assault rifle, but there never seemed much point to me.Benpasko said:I disagree whole-heartedly.
