MW3 Dev Manipulates MetaCritic, Gets Flamed to Death

I don't have a problem with this guy asking his followers to help manipulate the user score because an average of 1.7 has clearly been manipulated once again by d-bags with nothing better to do intentionally bombing a metacritic user review section.

It's not like they were pulling a Bioware guys.

Still, I think t got the scores it deserved. It looks like complete ass.

Well I suppose that helps balance out all the mindless 0/10 votes from people who haven't even played the game. Now I'm not demanding that everyone in the world play MW3, but I don't think it's too much to ask that if you're going to proffer an opinion on it you should at least know what you're talking about rather than voicing an opinion that is based on nothing but uninformed guesswork and bias.

I think the point was against people who bash a game for the hell of it. Someone who has played the game, decided that they didn't like it, and given it a 2/10 isn't the problem - that's an honest opinion based on first-hand experience and is totally valid as a score. It's the flood of people who gave it 0/10 without even playing it just to be dicks that are the problem.

I more meant that the people who have never played it and rate it down because it's CoD shouldn't. If they've played it and didn't like it, fair enough, but just never playing it and calling it bad is exceptionally stupid.

If you guys don't like the fact that a game has been given (a blatently trolling) score. Why didn't you just vote the game in your honest opinion, that way you wouldn't have to complain about the people giving it flame scores. The people voting are people that don't like the game (as dumb as their score is, they wouldn't have gave it 9/10 anyway). So why don't you get your butts on to metacritic and give you point of view? Rather than flaming other peoples?

I honestly don't remember the last time i've even opened metacritic.

Why do people still go on that site at all or take it seriously when this is all they do with it? This exact same thing happened with Dragon Age 2. However i didn't like that one as much as origins, i think it's better then a 0/10 -_-

We've been seeing a lot of flack regarding scores on Metacrit, and it all seems to boil down to a simple possibility: the average gamer really does not have the training of discernment, the skill of communication, or the mental/emotional maturity necessary to accurately review a game(and some game developers are proving they don't have the mental/emotional maturity to deal with criticism or getting less than a perfect score).

Aside: true, absolute perfection is unknowable to beings with such limited insight as we humans; thus, judging something to be such is likely a statement of ignorance. Things can be better than they were before, but being perfect is something that can change depending on whom you ask. Even just being better is subject to the context of the situation.

I don't see the reasoning behind him getting attacked for this. MW3 isn't anywhere close to best game of the year for me, but it was alright. And all this guy was asking for was just for honest reviews. Admittedly, he was probably looking for higher scores, but given all the lying 1's and 0's, I can't blame him for asking for honest scores.

I do actually support the devs on this one. To me it seems like someone put a lot of work into a project, and couldn't ignore his gut reaction to defend it from being unfairly criticized.

Say what you will, but you cant defend people who only criticize things with either a 0/10 or a 10/10.

Metacritic is a website that was a nice idea on paper but should have never been put into practice; its the internet and without some form of filtering process, you will always have trolls. I really do hate how even developers use it to gauge how good their game is/much their lives are worth living.

I guess it's not enough to sit on a big pile of cash if people are saying your game sucks. God that's PATHETIC, seriously.

But this didn't come from Activision. This came from one of the groups of developers that worked their asses off and didn't see their families for months in order to get this game on the shelves on time. It's not about money.

If a person genuinely doesn't like an aspect of the game/graphics/mechanics/audio/physics/whatever, then fine; leave an honest review. But to just shit all over lots of people's very hard work and late nights anonymously is a spineless, idiotic, totally dickish thing to do.

Modern Warfare 3 is a good game. Is it a 10/10? No. But it looks good, sounds good, the frame rate is great, and it's a blast (pun intended) to play.

OT: As others have said, the metacritic scores are ridiculous, probably from people who have only played the game for ten minutes, or not at all. It's perfectly rational for Sledgehammer to ask users to do something about it.

Also, so it's not about money, it's about fame and having people tell you that your mediocre game is awesome because their your fans. Still pathetic as well. My thing is the game is already going down in history for selling better than the bible (while being THROUGHLY mediocre according to everyone I've spoken to), so why does this douche also need a high Metacritic score from specifically the fans (as the review scores have been paid off to look like the game shits gold)? The only reasonable answer is not enough love from his mother as a child.

Treyarch sucks dick, and always will. CoD died with MW2, not that I was a big fan, just pointing out the writing on the wall.
