My first shiny!

So, after playing Pokemon on and off - I've owned a few games, not many and usually only every few generations did I buy one - I finally saw and caught my first shiny yesterday.

Yup.

SoulSilver, I was doing the Radio Tower Team Rocket thing, shutting down the generator.

... It was a goddamned Voltorb. My first shiny was a stupid blue Voltorb.

At least I caught it, I guess...?

I am somehow very disappointed.

What was yours?

Teach Electrode Thunderbolt and it becomes an amazing Pokemon.

I'd love a shiny Voltorb/Electrode, I like that brilliant blue color.

I've also caught a shiny blue Venonat in the bug catching contest in original Silver, a shiny golden Weedle in Leaf Green in Viridan Forest, and a shiny golden Petilil in Pinwheel Forest in White. The two bugs became a badass dark purple Venomoth and badass green Beedrill. But I have neither this day. I traded over the Petilil to Black as I'm using it for PC storage, and she's still in there.

I also had an Electrode in Ruby last year who contracted Pokerus, and it quickly spread across my entire party to turn them into stat beasts, I then infected one Pokemon and boxed them for later infection.

Mine was a Marill in I think it was Sapphire. It's a shame I caught it at about the time I got bored with the game and got the next iteration. Did get it to Azumarill though

I didn't even know there were shiny Pokémon in the games. Sadface. I guess that's what you get for skipping a few of them and not grinding through the same regions. Do they have better stats or is it just a cosmetic change?

I did get a shiny Zapdos Pokémon card back in the day though.

I've played every generation, with well over a hundred hours played in each, and I've never seen a wild shiny ;_;

I envy you, since even Voltorb is kinda badass as a shiny.

All my years playing, I have never seen a shiny Pokemon. Although, to be fair, I didn't even know that you could get 'shiny' pokemon when I was a kid, so I may have seen one and not even noticed.

I did, however, get a Pikachu with 'Surf' from the pokewalker thingy from SoulSilver. That was pretty neat. Think I evolved it into Raichu, I forget.

The only one I've ever caught is a shiny Zubat -.- It's booger green. Not very attractive looking at all but hey its a shiny and I was still pretty damn chuffed to finally have one.

I THINK I saw a shiny sentret once way back when in Silver. Level 3, at the veery beginning (so before I even saw the Gyrados and knew shinies were a thing). I thought it was just a glitch so I killed it =S Haven't seen any aside from those 2.

My only shiny that I ever caught was in Crystal Version, first playthrough of any Pokemon game ever. It was a Purple Drowsee in the patch just south of Goldenrod City. I evolved him up to Hypno and used him to win against the Elite Four.
Now since then I've yet to encounter anymore.

In all the games i've played, i have NEVER seen a shiny.

Well for as far as i can remember. IF i ran into someone i probably didnt see the importance (hell, i still don't) and either killed it or caught it.

I've played every generation at least once, and all I've gotten was a Wurmple or something. A Voltorb would be pretty sweet.

Do shinies stay shiny when they evolve?

They do indeed stay shiny.

I have a green zubat 3 or four times. I've also had shiny wurmple and a shiny beldum. They always have shit IV's and natures though shame you can't breed shininess.

I actually didn't notice until after I caught it. Admittedly this was played on a gameboy advance with poor lighting, but they're still pretty similar. Needless to say I was a tad disappointed.

HOWEVER, my next shiny was an Onix, and that by far made up for it.

The first random shiny I saw was a shiny Lugia in my first game on the original Silver. Stupidly made the thing faint as well... -_-

Beyond that, I caught a shiny Aron once, but that's pretty much it. I don't tend to have much luck in that regard.

A few years back I got a shiny Onix, then 2 weeks after that I got a shiny Steelix. That's pretty much been it for me.

I've played since Gen 1 and my first shiny was in Black 2. I was just breeding eggs to get some pre-evolved Pokemon for my Dex when this guy hatched.

Being my only shiny, I'm pretty happy with it. The colour is very different from the normal form (looking at you Garchomp) and he has my favourite cry out of every Pokemon. Sure it's basically a fart noise, but look me in the eye and say you didn't giggle you first encountered one.

I caught two shiny Woopers in the same place one after the other in Soulsilver, so now I have a pair of Shiny Purple Quagsires. I also got a gold Magikarp in Platinum, which evolved into a red Gyrados...

At least you caught it. My first shiny that I saw was Graveler. It used Self-Destruct first turn, the bastard.
Only one I've caught was a Sewaddle. I'm not big into bug type, but blue's my favorite color, so I could have done worse. I'd love to get a shiny Absol or Chandelure. Unfortunately with shiny Pokemon, you take what you can get.

On my first playthrough of Silver (not Soul Silver, the original, before they were known as shinies), I caught a purple Mareep outside Violet City. I kinda miss it, so Mareep and its evolutions are one of my must-haves whenever I play Gen II, even if it's not shiny.

In all my years of Pokemon i've only seen two shinies, a Pidgey in Fire Red and a Spinarak in Crystal. I didn't even notice the Spinarak was shiny until it was too late, wasn't paying too much attention since I was just grinding up a bit at the time. But that shiny Pidgey still haunts me to this day, stupid critical hits.

Got a shiny Elekid in Crystal, just slightly more yellow than orange, can barely tell the difference from the normal ones, and a shiny green Zubat in Black 2
