I agree with this. When they first showed Baraka, I was disappointed (I always liked Baraka). But it didn't take me long to clear my mind of my video game preconceptions and give this a chance. They did Baraka before "correctly" and it didn't translate well. If I want to see the mystical stuff...the original still exists. I'm excited for this new look and altered plot. I'm in!Tiamat666 said:Yeah, but videogame concepts and mechanics don't translate well to the big screen. Just look at the loads of crap that are the previous MK movies.Jeronus said:This didn't really feel like Mortal Kombat. I mean it looks like a great movie but the Mortal Kombat I know is over the top filled with crazy impossible attacks and magic fireballs.
Or practically all other game movies, for that matter.
I know but even though they were shitty they still felt more like Mortal Kombat than this movie. This movie is great but with a title like Mortal Kombat it feels like it is trying to hard to be something else.Tiamat666 said:Yeah, but videogame concepts and mechanics don't translate well to the big screen. fanmade with professional actors? maybe bill gates is a fan or somethingTheTygerfire said:That trailer was terrible, and I sincerely hope that this is a cruel joke or fan made project.
i can see where he goes wrong though, the guy chose to modify his body, the way i see the trailer is baraka went mad, deforming his body not out of free will but out of psychological problems. the actor on the other hand has body mods, but i doubt the huge blade in arm thing can be categorised as a mod instead a mutilationColdStorage said:You finding baraka offensive is like people finding the twins in transformers offensive.Wedlock49 said:Body modification is not body mutilation and as a modified person myself I find his description to be offensive there are a lot of people who have altered their faces much like he has.
Ultimately it doesn't matter because its technically the view of a single person that is in the driving seat, you should embrace the free publicity to be honest, the market penetration of a "modification" (or whatever you call it) on a mainstream product is better than you could ever achieve just by yelling at people in the street that "its my choice".
Sorry but people get stuff wrong all the time, especially in films.
Sub Zero's clan, the Lin Kuei, wasn't destroyed, it was Scorpion's clan, the Shirai Ryu, that was destroyed, by Quan Chi. Sub Zero (the elder, who later became Noob Saibot) killed Scorpion while looking for Shinnok's amulet for Quan Chi, who then destroyed the Shirai Ryu at the request of the Lin Kuei Grandmaster.Deofuta said:However, Sub-Zero was my favorite character! I thought he was the hero for some reason, didnt Scorpion kill off his entire clan or something?
Three of them were, Cyrax, Sektor and Smoke (albeit unwillingly), the rest were not.T0BB0 said:Wasn't it Sub-Zero's clan who were transformed into the cyborgs...?
No, you misunderstand. Baraka has always been my favorite character and after seeing the new design he's even more so. Having his modifications described as mutiliation however is offensive... though I would go as far as to say the blades in the forearms would be mutilation as there's no way that it could be done without causing massive damage and leaving a high risk of infection.ColdStorage said:You finding baraka offensive is like people finding the twins in transformers offensive.Wedlock49 said:Body modification is not body mutilation and as a modified person myself I find his description to be offensive there are a lot of people who have altered their faces much like he has.
