Looks awesome, even though I preferred ninja lizard-man style Reptile.
My one question is about Goro.
How will they do him?

modification =/= mutilation
Mutilation or maiming is an act or physical injury that degrades the appearance or function of any living body, usually without causing death.
then degrading the appearnce would be down to someones perception, but body mutilation is an offensive term in the modified community and like it or not it's a way of life for some people just because we aren't protected by discrimination laws doesn't mean that it's ok to insult us because of life choices we have made.

So...its awsome...but its doing the Street Fighter approach of changing the characters looks? I must admit, it looks good, but im not holding my breath because other game movies has let me down...lets list

Street Fighter (both of them)
Dead Or Alive
Tomb Raider (the second one and on)
The 3rd resident evil (the first two was...ok)
Max Payne (The movie literally made me have...Max Payne..)
The Max Payne film was not that bad still wish it had more to do with the thing it was based on and all.... resident evil is horrible all around.

I hate gimped fiction and that is what they are doing with this....

Sure, MAYBE it's for a new MK movie. (I certainly wouldn't complain if it was.) Even for as good as the video is, something about it just seems so... not Hollywood. I'm seeing subtleties that major studios would get sued over.

A Hollywood studio won't forget about things like a company credit, even on a teaser. It's a matter of money and legality (mainly union stuff). It's generally less of a pain in the ass to give away a spoiler or two in the credits than deal with legal agreements from the hundreds of people involved in production.

My money is on a new game - development studios have pulled this kind of thing off before, even getting name-brand actors in some cases.

Edit: Also, the music at the beginning sounds a bit like the Resident Evil movie theme.

Mmmmmmm call it creative writing to reinforce the "change" in the character, I would not take offense at it unless it was pointed directly at the "modified community" and as a fat, pimply, greasy hairy lard ball I can;t complain about what people do with their looks :p.

I remember way back then, before DC vs. Mortal CKombat, how they were talking about how they are going to completely change up the series for the then-next gen consoles. This must be the real change to the series. Not that I was a hardcore fan of the series, Mortal Kombat had lost it's touch, and the only reason it was popular was the gore. Best of luck for the series.
Dude your avatar looks familiar as hell.

but the emphasis on the change in the character should be done through his personality not because he has implants. Seriously I think the Baraka character looks fucking badass, I just don't like the fact that their showing his modifications in a negative light, he's the bad guy not his modifications.

The story of the Mortal Kombat games is such a clusterfuck that this is one of the rare occasions that I'm in full support of binning it all and starting from scratch.

Sure, it'd be cooler to see a good movie based on the actual story, but that's pretty much impossible anyway.

There was just a thread about this.
And no..

It looks like crap.

That is NOT the Mortal Kombat I know..
But the uninhibited levels of gore, the brutal hard hitting fight sequences, the classically violent and memorable core characters...

Are we talking about the same Mortal Kombat, here? Is there some other series in which Mortals compete in a series of matches based on Kombat of sorts?

Perhaps the self mutilating bit was more referring to the fact he has two massive blades sticking out of his forearms. I don't know of any one that is THAT commited to their body mods. However that may also be because none of the people I know are psychopathic.

I like this! A realistic twist on the characters without all the original mumbo-jumbo storyline.

I'm curious if characters like Raiden, Liu Kang, and Kano will also make appearances. Kano from the original movie was pretty much perfect (the eye anyway, I could deal with not having the accent). Liu Kang should be easy enough, insert Asian fighting star. Raiden might be impossible to do realistically, unless the dude has Tesla Coils built into his clothes or something.

I wanna see more, and even more, I want this to be a movie, not a game.

It's from Scary Movie 3 if I remember rightly, part of the parody version of the video from The Ring.

How about Myth? Y'know.. Goro, Sheeva, Kintaro, "Magic"..
And not.. "Realism"..

I guess I'm just oldschool, like the old dog.
I thought oldschool mortal kombat was about, you know, ripping off heads.
