IN NO PARTICULAR ORDER
Call of Duty
Call of Duty
This is me trolling
Call of Duty
Joke Over

THE REAL LIST
(no order for real)

Deus Ex: Human Revolution: This showed me modern FPS's are still worth playing (and yes I know its an RPG but it plays like a shooter)

Fallout New Vegas: Much more polished Fallout 3 and everyone loves Fallout 3

Blazblue (series): I love Guilty Gear but damn is it hard to learn which is why its nice to have the same solid combat system and not take years to master

Team Fortress 2: Must...get...more...hats

inFamous: Fun game with solid ass story and it gets points for making me care about the side characters (a mistake Fallout 3 made)

It's hard to pick an order (so I'll go alphabetical), but I'd probably go with:

Batman: Arkham City.
Mass Effect 2.
Minecraft.
Portal 2.
Tales of Vesperia.

They're also some of my favourite games of all time. This generation has been pretty damn awesome.

'What are your top 5 games this gen?' is a little too non-specific for my comfort, for instance, does this include handheld games and would you consider the current handheld generation to be 3DS and PS Vita, rather than the DS or PSP? I will try and answer the question though; this does seem to be an enjoyable one to take part in.

If I were to count the current generation of gaming as Wii, Xbox 360, PS3, PC (I don't think this one is affected by generations), 3DS, and Vita, well then I don't have to worry about handheld choices. I lack a Vita currently and while I have immensely enjoyed both Dead or Alive: Dimensions and Dr Lautrec and the Forgotten Knights on the 3DS I would not consider them for my top 5 of this generation. So then, I believe my top five favourite games of this generation are as follows;

5) Eternal Sonata (Xbox 360)
4) Asura's Wrath (PS3)
3) Muramasa The Demon Blade (Wii)
2) Super Smash Bros Brawl (Wii)
1) Kirby's Adventure Wii (Wii)

I do believe Eternal Sonata was also available for the PS3 and Asura's Wrath was available for the 360 as well but I have put down what console I bought the game for, not all of them which the games are available on.

Honorable mentions: FIFA, twilight princess, Skyrim, Minecraft and TF2
There would be more, but I'd take up the page

In no particular order:

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - It's everything I wanted out of Oblivion and more. Great game even if the technical hiccups can be bothersome at times.

Mass Effect 1, 2, and 3: Honestly I can't really rate one above the other. Mass Effect 1 had the best story and overall feel from a science fiction standpoint. Mass Effect 2 was filled with memorable moments all throughout but it lacked that RPG feel of the first game. Mass Effect 3 had the best of both 1 and 2 but the ending was to be desired.

Uncharted 2: I don't know why but this would have to be my favorite of the trilogy. Without this game I don't think my interest in the series would have never made it past the first one.

The Witcher 2: Loved it.

Dragon Age: Origins: Fun and engaging.

Honorable Mentions:

Fallout 3 and New Vegas
inFamous 1 and 2
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
Left 4 Dead 1 and 2
Batman Arkham City
Gears of War 2 (didn't play the 3rd game)
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
Dark Souls
Saint's Row 2
Red Dead Redemption
Killzone 2
Halo: REACH
New Super Mario Bros. Wii
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (didn't play Skyward Sword)
Super Smash Bros. Brawl (Melee was better)
Minecraft
World of WarCraft: The Burning Crusade and Wrath of the Lich King

In no order because I can't think of one:

Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword
Portal
Limbo
Metal Gear Solid 4
No More Heroes

I dunno if you count DS games or post 2006 PSP games as this gen but if it did, the list looks like (this time in an order):

1)Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles
2)Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow
3)Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin
4)Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia
5)Uh... The Dark Spire... What can I say, it reminded me of Akalabeth (Ultima 0) and The Bard's Tale.

Huh. I really like 2d Castlevania.

I don't think I have comment on this yet. Anyway my tastes change often, but umm let me see.
1. Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time.
2.Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction.
3.Resistance 3. Slightly off topic the Reapers form Mass Effect remind me a lot of the Chimera.
4.Infamous 2.
5.Metal Gear Solid 4.

I just noticed all those where Play station exclusives. I just want to say I have an x box and I do play on the PC as well. But I just liked those games the most.
