Why did noone mention the Crysis Wars Mod Mechwarrior Living Legends MechWarrior Living Legends [http://www.mechlivinglegends.net]?

It's thze most awesome mech action you can get today on pc.

Only downsides: you need Crysis Wars, a decent PC to run it, and it's multiplayer only.

Since Zone of The Enders : The 2nd Runner has already been mentioned I nominate Mobile Suit Gundam: Federation vs. Zeon for PS2. It's easily the best Gundam game ever made. Another one worth a shot is Encounters in Space.
I'd counter that and say Zeonic Front is better.

Also, if you're going the MSG way I'd say go for Gundam vs Zeta Gundam.
It's pretty much FVZ + more stuff.

(Think Street Fighter 4 verse Super Street Fighter 4)
i see your zeonic front and raise with 0079: rise from the ashes (the only gundam game out there that i know of that plays from a first person/in-cockpit perspective, also plays very much like the mechwarrior games with a sqaud combat element to it, plot is pretty good too, only downside is it was made exclusively for the dreamcast)

Fair enough...I was going for PS2 games.

There's also NTSC-J game for the Wii that plays like that.
There's enough English in it so you can play it, pretty fun using your beamsaber like a lightsaber.
:D

The entire Mechwarrior series is worth checking out. I've spent many an hour on Mechwarrior 3 and 4.

If you want a classic arcade feel and you have a liking for Gundam try Gundam vs Zeta Gundam.

If you have a fondness for Dynasty Warriors and like Gundam too, try Dynasty Warriors Gundam 2

If you like Turn Based strategy try Front Mission 3 or 4 (4 is my favorite)

Mech Warrior is kinda fun if you like western mechs.

If you like ridiculous difficulty try Armored Core: For Answer.

If I think of anything else I'll edit this.

Chrome Hounds was a pretty good game but I think it may have been 360 only, Not sure if that's any help for you.

EDIT: a quick search turned up these but I don't think they're quite what you looking for.

Front Mission Evolved was terrible. IMO stay far, far away from it.

Play Front Mission 3. You can get it off PSN. Or you can get Mechwarrior 4: Mercenaries for free from mektek.
Holy Hell! I just saw footage for Mechwarrior 5 and I'm impressed at the very least. I love the attention to detail inside the cockpit.

Was this tossed away as a lost project, or is it still going?
MW4: Mercs was released for free as a MW5 promotion.
Seconded. I got this a month ago maybe and have now beaten it 3 times and put in at least 50+ hours.

I recommend you play no heat + unlimited ammo btw. The game is still fairly difficult + you get to go crazy.

If you can stand old 3S graphics, you should get your hands on Starsiege for PC.

Just make damn sure you read the 'controls' with religious fervour.

It's a shame too, since it was fairly decent for a free to play game. Loved the hell out of it.

Shooting Macross on the NES

oh don't look at me like that!

Fine, play the SNES version

or you can always play the millions of super robot wars out there.

or you can play Gundam GX series, where the normal play is turn based combat but the actual fighting is real time shooting arcade style

Good question.
Go and get it, but it's a little complicated to get the files downloaded right.
Also- the same people have been working on an independent project based in the same universe called AT-1.
