I don't think you need hacks to explain tsushima winning out in this poll. It was such an excellent game and it keeps getting free support from the devs that other things would charge for or release as standalone things if the online modes of rockstar games of late are anything to go by.

But I guess it IS hilarious that people legitimately bought that people would hack the poll. That a hack is why their game is losing out on popularity.

Well you can't win them all and that is okay by me. Its not like some obscure weeb game on the Switch won.
If that were to happen, you would not gain or lose anything. TLOU2 would still be your GOTY regardless. I'm happy that Ghost of Tsushima won, but the Game Awards are still full of elitist snobs that try way too hard to please people who don't play games or non-gamers alike to look more "adult" or mature.

I could see people hacking the polls because they have a seething hate boner for TLOU2. However I don't think Ghost would have needed that to win. Its generally been an almost universally loved game. It was very well received, well respected and the free updates garner a lot of good will.

Oh, sorry, I didn't know that Art must be restricted to certain locales. That's why the USA doesn't have any foreign films from France or Japan or Korea or Hong Kong or China, or yeah no you see how that's stupid, right?

Certain people don't want diversity in their "art". We can see clearly who that is.
Uh, there are films that have been refused classification in Australia and ergo are not available here for sale or public viewing. Usually because they fail to abide by or exceed certain regulations in place by the Australian Classification Board (under their authority via Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Communications)

EDIT: removed ACMA as the reference agency. They do telecommunications legislation.

I think you’ll find most countries have systems like this in one form or another. Its not unique to my patch of the Southern Hemisphere.
Yes, most countries have obscenity laws, and some of them are more stupid than others.
What is your argument? "They do it too, so it's okay?"

My argument is that certain types who claim to be about championing art will gladly censor art that they don't like, and that you cannot have it both ways.

My argument is that Japan has a system, America has a system, Australia has a system, Britain has a system etc, and on some content they do not line up. That is why things are changed for localisation of foreign market content. And that you had best make peace with that or else you’re going to give yourself a stroke, you great wally.

Who’s talking hypocrisy?
I am in post #59.

I’m just saying don’t be shocked when a product created under one regulatory body doesn’t get a free pass from a different one.
What I'm referring to is not a government's regulatory body, but the wishes of an individual (like the person I was responding to in post #59), and pRiVaTe CoMpAnIeS like Sony that censor Japanese games just because they're Japanese games, but are perfectly willing to show off Abby's weeping willows because "iT's ArT"

I'm less concerned with the double-standards and hypocrisy of governments, and more concerned with the double-standards of individuals. Like Gyrobot.

Substituting facts and reality with lies because the lies feel more true is the sign of being propagandized, you wanna always keep an open mind and be unbiased when dealing with these sorts of things.

And yeah about the only people who rag on tsushima are angry last of us 2 fans who are upset that their game is being upstaged. It's all about power and not gaming to them.

At least you understand it wouldn't have needed that to win, hence, there wouldn't be a motive for people to go on to hack a poll since they just believe on the game to do well lol.

Welp, looks like the results are in; And GoT won!
Neil is actually congulating Sucker Punch, although I'm not sure whether it's intentional or half-assed

If you read through the comments of the annoucement itself, you will see some people arguing SP should not accept this award, as the voting system as been "rigged by angry alt-right"
ROFL. Ghost won the previous 2 rounds of voting so what happened there?

Also what are the going to claim because Nazis were allies with the Japanese in WWII that it makes sense the alt-right would vote for a game about ancient Japan?

Wait, didn't they hack the system and voted heaps for GoT?
No. At worst the site glitched and the winning one at the time was given 100% of the vote when a person voted because that was the only vote the site had recognised due to connection issues etc.

Another generic open world game won, no surprise there. I mean, the game was alright but totally forgettable plot and fighting the same four enemy types over and over also got pretty repetitive. The landscape and wind effects did look nice though.
