Yes I knew that which does not make it any better imo. That's basically my explanation why it so bad. Because at some point the story just went downhill and gave way to these boring everlasting monologues. I guess they can be exciting for people who never went through a depressive stage in their lives and never thought about all these questions themselves.Garrett said:Oh, so you understand that writer was under severe depression when writing this show which resulted in such characters that have traits of his personal struggle and conclusions?.
And overall the storytelling is just bad and incoherent. Too much is left unexplained, the ending doesn't even make sense and comes out of nowhere and the worst thing, the only thing he wanted to express with that ending is as far as I understood and remember(been some time and I only wanted to forget) "It's okay for you to love yourself just as you are." or some similar bullshit. *throws up*
That is still debatable, is it not? It also depends on how one defines "good" and "bad".Garrett said:You also understand that there is no such thing as "objectively good/bad"? Somehow I doubt it.
I personally like to think that there is some objective truth, though that might be just like the belief in god >.<
I'll be switching one of my majors to philosophy and ethics, maybe I'll be able to argue about that one day ^^
That's a good argument I agree with that. It just appeared to me that somehow people attribute those ideas to NGE, which is wrong because it definitely was not the author of NGE who first had these ideas.Garrett said:And just because something isn't original, that doesn't make it worse.
Well that can have different reasons I guess. Sometimes people may want reassurement why they feel a certain way, sometimes they become emotional and want to vent these emotions by writing it down or they need somebody to share their experiences with and sometimes you may be right.Garrett said:I can never understand this need in people to justify their liking/hating of something. It just seem to me like they're really just trying to convince themselves that they are superior to others...
I guess that need of people to express themselves is pretty irrational
But it may be because nowaydays we identify ourselves more than ever with the things we like.
"This when a person says they like flying or like a particular rock group, they are connecting their self with these and including associated concepts into their identity."
Same goes for disliking something, just that you distance yourself rather than connect.
Btw I'm starting to enjoy our little conversation isn't that all it is about? (^_^)
