I think everyone is overeating. Yes its a bad thing and we should fight it, but its hardly the work of satan or the end of the world. And as long as we have the beer well be okay anyway.

Im just hoping it wont get past the senate. I'm putting my faith in the greens here.

Ros Phillips, a spokeswoman for the group FamilyVoice Australia [http://www.fava.org.au/], said she was "delighted" that the new Prime Minister is staying the course. "The underlying principle, you can't dispute - why should you treat the internet differently from any form of communications like films and books and so on," she said.
Because, Ms. Phillips, it's fundamentally different. Anybody who compares the internet to a film or book has no understanding of what the internet is. The interent is a network. It is not the content it delivers, it is not even the medium of the content it delivers. It is the means by which the medium is delivered. It is more the movie camera than the movie. The pen rather than the book. If you think you can apply some sort of content filter to a pen to make it reject the content someone wants to create with it, you're either simply ignorant or insane.
OR, you have invented THE BEST PEN EVER!

It's actually been pushed back till at LEAST next year because Conroy realised there were a few fuck ups in the system to do it.

Not to mention that Telstra, Optus, iinet, etc have come out and said "Um, Conroy? We don't support this, so stop saying we do you giant DOUCHE."

The interwebs : Scaring housewifes and idiots since the day it was created.

On another note : I think it would be much better to catch pedophiles instead of just censoring them. And shoot them while you`re at it.
