Just a thought.
I like the way you think.

I want adventure more than anything.

...but I'm the kind of guy who enjoyed the first Star Trek movie, 2001 A Space Odyssey, and 007: Moonraker for their space scenes. There's so much you can do when you have the galaxy in your creative hand. I want to see surreal worlds, that bizarre blend of colors reminiscent of 1960's and 70's space posters. The characters' interactions with the world around them is always fascinating to watch when written well, and the cast of characters most of the Star Trek shows have come up with are engaging and enjoyable. But for me it's always been about the adventure. I could sit down and watch an hour long episode where the crew just sits on the command deck, watching a view screen of stars and planets...

...buuut after a while I'd probably want them to visit a planet or something, cause that'd get kinda boring.

Desire for yet, Certainly. Expectation it can be done well enough to survive, very doubtful.

I am no fan of ToS, regardless of if it was the 60s cast or yhe Abrhams reboot. What I miss was the long arching story lines that started in TNG and what made DS9

If its going to happen it needs to be set deep enough into the future of the TNG time line, even beyond STOs time line. I somewhat have my doubts about it, but I remain hopeful.

And yes.. Data needs to be resurrected. Even if Spiner doesnt want to do it... Just resurrect him in a different body and claim his programming became too complex for the b4 body and required extensive biological upgrades, forcing a new body to be created. (honestly I dont know If I really want that as much as I still resent how it was left unresolved in the film)

Other thought: Is this the "titan" project that was talked about around after the first abrhams film was released that CBS categorically said No, it would be a conflict of interest.?

Im all for another Trek series, I quite liked Enterprise though, it held the feeling of freshness and new territory for me, also made humans seem..........human. But what does that matter?, I liked all the Star Trek series.

Foster said the Klingons in his series are growing tired of having to rely on the Federation for support following the Praxis incident [look it up, non-nerds] while the Ferengi have stumbled upon some kind of new resource that has given them a windfall of wealth and power.
Hmmm...

Strange feeling about this...it's like if the Ferengi had discovered oildilithium reserves and the Klingons didn't want the UNFederation Council involved...

But that would be crazy to mix fantasy and reality like that...

Of course, if they actually go back to the original title sequence and not that god-awful Enterprise garbage, they might win a few fans back. And you know they're going to redo the Decontamination Gel scene.

What would really be a good idea is to bring back series that hadn't received that treatment so far...like Blake's 7, Firefly, Space:Above and Beyond, Babylon 5, The Twilight Zone, Space 1999, Sliders, The Outer Limits, Logan's Run, Andromeda, Lexx, Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea, Land of the Giants, Lost in Space, Nowhere Man, The Greatest American Hero, Buck Rogers in the 25th Century, Earth: Final Conflict, Farscape, Max Headroom, Star Cops, The Tomorrow People, Eureka, Terrahawks, Fireball XL5...

Just a thought.
Some of these, I want to say "Too soon" because of their being fairly-modern shows. Others, I want to say "Doesn't need it", like with Twilight Zone and Outer Limits. (Those two shows in particular had a huge original run plus another long reboot series each.) For Babylon-5, I wouldn't even know where to start. It's a very full and complete universe. Some of those shows, I don't even know. Out of them all, I WOULD like to see something for...

Blake's 7 (Why not?)
Firefly (Fan favorite.)
Logan's Run (This was cool!)
Buck Rogers (Because if there's a John Carter movie going on, I say to go for it.)

Ummm...what's Fireball XL5? I'm 30 and I have no idea what kind of show that is.

While I'm not a fan but I would to see the return of the franchise into the TV screen. The CGI stuff would be a big improvement with the current technology (as long they don't spend all of the money on those screen panels).

"instead stick to the "positive view of the future"

Ugh. Look, I like the thought of us all being happy in the future and preferring exploration and science to blowing crap up, but I like conflict between characters and empires. Even with the best will in the 'verse, some will always be unhappy, have grudges and so on.

DS9 showed that you could still have the optimistic outlook and still provide realistic conflict.

As long as it is still as intelligent as the previous series and isn't just about action then I am looking forward to this a lot.

If it returns to TOS style then I am happy... But I would rather they left it alone now...don't want to keep churning out Star Treks for ever...the series might turn into the Lost of the Sci Fi.

Anything with Roddenberry's original concept as the starting point sounds like a good idea. I really didn't like Abrams' film at all.
And hey, maybe we can finally get that QLGBT character Seven of Nine was supposed to be?

Speaking of...no mention of Voyager in the timeline described in the first paragraph?

um.. slight problem, how can the doctor push the buttons on the console if he just turned off the ability to touch things?

trek.. you so crazee.

Even modern touchscreens are capacitive and not activated by physical pressure.

Well, it can't possibly be any worse than the crap-fest that was Enterprise. I say go for it.
