The only unfortunate thing about this is that no news source will show this as a story in which a gamer kills people will get more watchers.

Wow Theru, as much as I appreciate the effort you put into your posts, I feel like you need to prioritize your message. I write a small paragraph and I'm bombarded me with 10 large paragraphs. You blame the left wingers for doing the same as the right wingers, both are just as much to blame, both sides want to take away your freedoms. The right wing are more wanting to take away the freedoms of those that the bible doesn't like. The freedoms of people wanting to have abortions, the freedoms of homosexuals, the freedoms of those that don't follow the bible with the sounds of things.

The problem with all political figures, no matter which side... they just want control, that's what a government does... control. We just pick who we'd rather be controlled by, either side is going to do things the other doesn't like, both sides are going to take away our freedoms. Which in some cases isn't that bad of a thing, you your self on the porn poll made a statement about peadophiles... their freedoms should be taken from them if they act up shouldn't they?. They rape or touch a child (inappropriately) they should be jailed shouldn't they?. Same goes for murderers, thieves and other criminals.

Both sides are hypocrites which is why I don't stand for one side... I keep my self in the middle.

Sarah Palin and McCain haven't been involved in video games (as far as I know) but Sarah as been involved in trying to censor the content of a library in Alaska. Which I'm sure you'd be against just as much as you would for video games. She was trying to stop people from reading books about evolution I think.

In October 1996, Palin asked the library director, Mary Ellen Emmons, if she would object to the removal of a book from the library if people were picketing to have the book removed.[63] Emmons responded that she would not be the only one objecting: "And I told her it would not be just me. This was a constitutional question, and the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) would get involved, too."[63] In early December, Palin made a written statement about the book removal request, saying she had been trying to get to know her staff and had been discussing many issues with them "both rhetorical and realistic in nature."[63] No books were removed and no attempt was made to remove books from the library during Palin's tenure as mayor

Well reading the whole page shows many attempts to violate freedom of speech.
Just think if she got in power... what do you think she'd do regarding video games? Would she ban all video games that don't show God in a positive light?.

I'm sure some liberals have worse thoughts on what to do with video games. However you seem to be putting all the blame on liberals, I'm sure a learned man such as your self understands that neither side is innocent of this.

Frickin' FINALLY! Truly, only armchair psychologists that don't study the subject of their study and conveniently placed boxes of kittens make us go on psychopathic rampages. Wait...

Finally! A study on our side! This is a victory for gamers everywhere! At least until anti-gamer people try to prove it wrong...I am a very peaceful, kind, laid back, and level headed person (as I get told from others) and I play some of the most violent games on the market (yay for GOW).

*Pulls poke ball from pocket* LOGIC I CHOOSE YOU!
Other team picks Fox News
You use "This paper", it's not very effective.
They use "Paper's wrong, cause it doesn't agree with us", it's super effective.
The finish you off with "Gamers must have threatened this man to say this, showing they are violent"

We need to train up our logic to beat the amount of idiocy on their team
Logic uses "cold unforgiveing facts" to buff attack
Fox News uses "Your just kids what do you know?" argument Sheidling themselves from further attack.
Fox News finishes Logic with "refusal to acknowlage that there were violnet crimes before street fighter I"
Fox News is switched with Jack Tompson!Logic uses "scientific evidadance."Jack Tompson uses "lie to media!"OHKO!Logic fainted!

I know you're going to get attacked for this and posts like it, but I agree with you. Most Republican political figures are as incompetent and irrelevant in their opinions of video games as Democrats, but the whole thing with the Republican party (or at least what they profess to believe, regardless whether they follow that belief) is this idea of smaller government and upholding individual freedoms. A party that votes for the right to bear arms probably can't vote down the right to play GTA without coming across as massively hypocritical.

To get to the point, I've seen buttloads of Democrats badmouth video games. With the notable exception of Fox News (they're all kinda nuts anyway), I can't think of a Republican who has campaigned against gaming nearly as much as Mrs. Clinton.

Obviously both groups will use gaming as a convenient scapegoat when they're drumming up support to take into other arenas, or to garner individual power and recognition, but at least in America the Democratic Party seems to contain more adamantly anti-game folks than the other side. Which is a bit like saying one tumor is more cancerous than the other, I know, but there you go.

Personally I think the two-party system is horrible for the simple reason that nobody can be 100% for or against absolutely everything either party does.

I shall have to save this link the next time someone throws the ol' ignorant-as-hell "simulated violence will turn you brutal" shoe at me. though I do believe studies can often be twisted so many ways as to render all of them valueless, at least here's an example of being slightly less pre-disposed...

Because gamers have been pulling this line for so long I have to play devil's advocate.

Since VVG have been a factor in so many school incidents, would it be too much to set them as one of several qualifying factors for a 'danger'?

IE Ralph plays violent video games, George plays Bejeweled -- Ralph is MORE likely to be a danger than George.

Now maybe someone will tell the Australian government... No. No that whole situation won't change until the ruling generation finally dies.

as a fool I must state that this is an obvious truth because gamers aren't so fucked in the head they get angrier sitting on asses playing games because "grr...this couch is itchy!"

Really? Only now? Took these 'professionals' that long to study this? Here's my advice to those scientists - pick up a fucking controller and play a game. Seriously, no study required. Just take five minutes to play a game and see if anything changes.

I also came across the conclusion that Marijuana, DnD and games are all the same. All the time the facts are clear that neither of them are dangerous and all the time not any of them are a threat. . .

Yet despite us being told none of them are dangerous we aren't getting anywhere because people aren't willing to accept those facts. So here's my advice on how to study the affects of those three.

Scientists, smoke a bowl and play the XBOX or PS3. The day later just read DnD.

Although we all knew this already, lets credit the study for verifying the obvious. Of course we know that what we do in a game does not reflect to what kind of people we are.

"gaming turns kids into slavering zombie killers" hahahahaha....hahahahaha
