Just announced:

Tekken Extreme Beach Volleyball. DLC is apparently going to be available four weeks after release entitled "Look Ma, One Hand..." which will unlock everything ingame ala Skate/Dirt.

People who pre-order receive special edition "art cards", as well as £0.99 knickers. I'll try and find the link.

I think there's also a "Blood is cool, right?" collector's edition, where even walking cause fountains of blood (plus explosions) to erupt from the ground.

You know, it's weird... I own Tekken Tag Tournament for the PS2, and not only are a much smaller portion of its playable characters female, but I remember most of them being very reasonably dressed and proportioned. I mean, there were a few characters that fit into the category of exceptionally well-endowed and scantily-clad, Nina Williams for example, but it's overall ratio of intentionally sexy female characters to not-so intentionally sexy female characters and male characters seemed to be much lower than, say, Dead or Alive 2 or Soul Calibur 2. Plus Tekken Tag had over 30 playable characters, so you can't say there wasn't plenty of opportunity.

Bottom line, since I last purchased a Tekken game, they seem to have jumped on the big-tit bandwagon with the rest of the big 3D fighting game franchises. I don't know what to say except that I guess sex sells so sell sex they shall.

Agreed. If I hadn't been told that this was an ad for the new Tekken game I probably would have thought... actually I don't even know what I would have thought.

It makes me feel like a piece of scum when I try and defend videogaming as an industry that can be taken seriously amongst its bigger brothers film and literature, and then mindless ads like this come out and make gaming look like a plaything for male chauvinists.

Fuck you, ad.

I actually think that advert has potential if they put some clothes on or putting some men on it fighting over a nuts magazine or a woman and a man fighting over the remote control.

Its a good selling tool if they got rid of their obsession with stuff that shouldnt be on adverts.

I don't get it. I could understand this sort of ad for Rumble Roses or Dead or Alive, but Tekken? There are some sexy women in Tekken, but unlike the other two mentioned games, they're not the focus. If they're trying to attract more people to Tekken being that it doesn't quite seem to be as popular as Street Fighter, I can understand, but it still doesn't fit very well with the game itself.

What's wrong with you, Namco?

Calm down Malygris, calm down. Now breaaaaath. In, and out. Feeling better now?

Anyway, Tekken has always been known for this kind of stuff. Why is it such a shock now?
Because I don't think it always was. As swaki pointed it was about crazy fighters that included bears, demons, terminator robots on steroids, and Mexican wrestlers that wore jaguar masks. The only scantly clad woman from the game I can remember was the Irish assassin chick who could chain throws together like the wrestlers. But like I said hadn't played any tekken games since tag tournament. Is this what all the new tekkens are like? No more bears and robots, and wooden training dummies that became self aware?

Sex sells, sex ALWAYS sells, why are people still surprised at this fact? It's gone well past the "big deal" stage back in the times of Duke Nukem. It's now laughable and should be ignored with the shrug of the shoulders.

Namco probably realized that they did something right in making Soul Calibur all about Ivy, so I guess they're going to try the same thing with Tekken.

Though this ad is a little much, and a lot stupid.

Anyone else ironically turned off by the ad instead of turned on? I found it boring, dull and massive waste of time that drew me away from considering the game. When I am looking to purchase a new game I have yet to play, I want to see the actual gameplay, the actual in game graphics and the character cast, not six bimbos wrestling in slow motion.

Lame ad.

It failed to even really be sexy. I'd rather watch girls dressed like that enthusiastically playing the game then watch what is probably 5 stretched-out seconds of each pair pretending to fight.

Namco should have gotten the people who do the ads for Team Ninja to make this one.

Cool.

An opinion piece posted in the "Latest News" tab.

And an abrasively written opinion too. Bravo. You're exactly what you're harshly criticizing.

Looks like proper marketing.
Lets give you an ad that has nothing to do with the product other than a title/logo/brand.
Now for the real marketing. What our target demographic. Young males in a middle class environment? Really? Thats awsome. Sex sells that ticket every time.
It would be really sad except for what im sure is insane sum of money spent on the research.

Totally agree with the editorial. I can't even look at Bayonetta footage because of the crass attempt at hyper sexualization.

And she's not even that sexy.

I'm now never going to get Tekken 6 'cause I am sick and fucking tired of people like my friend (movie nut) looking down at me even though I chose the superior god dammed medium!

Yeah well, Japan is wierd like that. They have an obsession with that sort of thing when it comes to marketing.

Having seen the graphics on Charlie Brooker's Gameswipe I wasn't sure I'd be getting Tekken 6...

...now, i'm getting it but I don't know why.
