This is apparently the trailer for it. At the time of writing, it has less than 38,000 views. Now really, is anybody surprised that THIS didn't sell well? It might be fun with a real controller, not one of those plastic board things...

Fifa does well due to the large number of football fans, and (in the UK) there is a bit of competition between fifa owners. I once had to write someone a letter of apologising for my poor performance and wasting his time when I lost 7-0 to them. He has it pinned to his wall still.
Though it pains me to say it in my Irish and Australian roots, you, my friend come from an awesome country
5 to 9 nil =letter
10 to 14 nil = we had to apologise to everyone in our halls (this was at out Uni halls of residence) to the tune of "Hi I'm ______ and this is _____ and he/she just defeated me 10-0 so I am here to apologise to him/her for wasting his/her time."
15+ nil = write a song with verses and a chorus detailing how pathetic you were.
5 goals from one player = sonnet (Shakespearean)

Along with my letter he has two others. We never got any worse then the letter but the threat was always there

My letter was awesome, in my opinion, I compared his team to the Greek epics and the like.

I too have Irish roots so don't feel too much pain.

EA's Skate split the market and left Tony Hawk with the casuals who, as it turns out, aren't dying for a new skateboard game every year. Granted the quality of Tony Hawk has been on the decline for years, but I also think in not trying to compete with Skate and in abandoning the interests of actual skateboarders, who are looking for a simulation, they put the final nail in their coffin. We're seeing the same thing with Shawn White's Color the World With Your Skateboard piece of crap game.

With the Skate series apparently on hiatus for the near future, Tony Hawk had a chance to swoop in and make a play for the simulation fiends they lost at the outset of this console generation. But the reality is that this franchise has been put out to pasture - Tony Hawk doesn't skate anymore, the skateboarding zeitgeist of the late 90's early aughts is over and with it the chances of a skateboarding mega-hit.

Here's hoping EA Blackbox, or whatever the hell the division has been merged into, is working on a legitimate snowboard simulation next.

I'm just waiting for the game publisher to blame piracy on the bad sales....

(In my personal opinion) I think Pirates have too good a taste to illegally download this game.

(Insert Picture of Pirate eating a 5-course meal with silver cutlery)
As much as I dislike pirates, I have to imagine even the sort of person who would pirate Barbie games would look at this fetid pile and say "Uh, no thanks, it's not worth the bandwidth". Tony Hawk is a dead property, and numbers like those don't just put the final nail in the coffin, they send the coffin down to the sawmill and feed it through the sawblades with the property locked inside it. Then again, given I'm a rabid follower of all games coming out for all systems and even I hadn't heard about it... did someone forget to market this thing?

What did not help is that it launched next to another overpriced peripheral with $400 million in marketing spent on it.

Things I liked about THPS3 that have subsequently been removed:
1. It was simple.
2. The settings were a good mix of the realistic and the fantastic.
3. The tricks & scores were fantastic. [fantastic as opposed to 'realistic']

The big one is the simple part. They felt compelled to expand upon the gameplay, and after reaching the pinnacle with the 'revert' they started adding the stupid abilities like pushing yourself with your foot giving points, or hanging on to car bumpers or even running around town. People liked riding around on skateboards, don't take that away from the game.
And the settings got worse and worse in the games I played. THPS4 was okay, but they started letting us play in section 8 sectors of Detroit or whatnot and this may have been based upon a misconception that actual skaters were playing the game. I'm sure real skaters have to find quiet places to practice, but the masses liked the settings like the Cruise Ship or The Moon.

Bang Bang Ur dead...

Welcome :) But in this case I wasn't suprised, these games were always really retarded and after so many games it's a wonder producers thought people would want more of these games...

Maybe they are pleasing a niche audience, a really small petite sad niche audience :)

Honestly? I doubt Activision will make another Tony Hawk game, and if they do it's just playing out their exclusive license (although it'll probably cost them a hell of a lot of money).

Ouch, just ouch.
I didn?t even though the series was still going, well it won?t be anymore.
Let us sit and lament its most tragically painful fall.

Still it's not as bad as the Pippin.
It was a gaming console that sold less than a thousand units worldwide... Apple's biggest fail ever.

As for the game, never heard of it, don't really want to. THPS1-3 will do just fine.

I still play Tony Hawks Pro Skater 2 on PS1 every now and again. Ahh, those were the days...

I hadn't heard of it either, although that's probably to be expected, seeing as it hasn't been released anywhere outside of the US, and doesn't seem to have a release date in Australia.

So, when can we expect the Escapist's review, saying that this is revolutionary title reinvigorating the franchise, let down by tragicly awful marketing?

That's... horrible. Especially considering you reminded me of Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3 and how good that game was.

Wow, that's too sad. I remember playing the hell out of Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2 on the PS1 and the GBA. That game was simply awesome and I loved making my own crazy skate parks. I played THPS3 with a friend and it was much much better.

Basically, I remember when this series were respectable and even good. Now it's dead. That's simply sad.

I didn't even know this was being made, let alone released. Maybe their marketing had something to do with it.
Or complete lack of said marketing. After the last Tony Hawk game, I didn't even think they'd make another one.

Wow, it's almost like people are tired of buying the same game rehashed and repackaged. Frankly, the only thing that surprises me about this is that it took this long. Now if only those people who buy EA Sports games every year would catch on, maybe we could actually get back to original content in games.
