Wow, there are bargain bin games that make more sales then this in the first two or three days. That's just sad.

So the studio gets lay-offs because Activision's higher-ups tell them to carry on with a series that's been dead for quite some time?

Real nice.

Does it matter that both Tony Hawk and DJ Hero tanked? Didn't Black Ops make Activision more money than all the DJ Heroes, Tony Hawk games and Tony Hawk himself, combined?

"side-talking taco" Now there is a strange mental image. Hearing about more layoff in the Gaming industry is never good

Geez, I remember when those games were all the rage on the Play Station...
Damn, I think that would make me feel old, if my brain didn't stab me every time I had those thoughts...
I think I feel some pity for the developer of that series.
Ah... the old days of Playstation and Tony Hawk games. I can still remember playing the original games at home before going over to a friends house for our daily 4-man match of Twisted Metal 2. Man I can't believe it's been so long, that was all the way back in elementary and now I'm working a full time job to save up for college. I can't even imagine what the mood at that developer's office is right now but I think your pity is well deserved.

Um... I remember seeing the advertisement and thinking: Lame.

Which goes to show that if your advertising team makes shitty decisions, then you pay the consequences.

and activision keeps violating corpses

in the stone age activision was the guy who was neither gathering nor hunting but rather took the carcasses the hunters brought back during the day and scraped every little bit of meat from the bones. In the morning activision would proudly sit next to pile of meat and claim that they got all that by themselves

Like so many other people hear, i had never even heard of this game, never mind knew it was released. I wonder what the real life Tony Hawk thinks of this? Does he even have any input in these games anymore?

Why the fuck did they even think about making a sequel to the last Tony Hawk game? Have they listened to any reviews and feedback for it? Guess not.

Well kids, this was the final nail in the coffin for a once great franchise. But only it isn't, because Activision is gonna dig this one up and try to bring it back. They will fail and instead create a Frankenstein monster of a game, with a lot of bugs and unplayable controls. Then they will keep trying and they will not stop! We are doomed! DOOMED I TELL YOU!!!!! But then in a few years the Angry Video Game Nerd will be faced with it and he shall strike it down once and for all!!!!!!!!! And it's gonna be fuckin' awesome! Not the part where they keep making shitty games, just the AVGN part.

I always felt the series jumped the shark when they started imitating jackass; but once the skateboard controller came out I knew it was over. In no way will I have as much fun standing on a plastic boogieboard as I will using a controller while pulling off a twenty move combo for a sick score.

I feel bad for the devs, but they should have just stopped when they ran out of ideas and skate stole their thunder. The controller was a poor attempt to counter a truly hardcore skating challenger; it's like they just don't get what was really fun at the heart of tony hawk games.

I mean, for crying out loud, guys - Nokia's original N-Gage sold more than that on its debut.
Is that a bad thing? I remember getting the N-Gage as my first "proper" cellphone (upgrade from a hand-me-down Nokia 3310) and I freakin' loved the darn thing. (had it for about 3 years).

Why does everyone hate the N-Gage?! D: I loved it! D:

Well, more on topic, it's not like I didn't see this coming. The series just kept on going downward after the first "Tony Hawks Underground" imo. Maybe he would have sold more if the series went back to its "Pro Skater" roots it would have sold more. Or, they could have told us about the game through commercials. I don't think I've seen a single one for this new game.

I didn't even KNOW there was a new tony hawk game. I didn't even know about Ride. Guess it's for the better. Maybe. At least I have something new to make fun of.

I'm just waiting for the game publisher to blame piracy on the bad sales....
"Those meddling pirates stealing our games that can only be controlled by a skate board peripheral!"
Sad thing is I could see it happening in this day and age.

i guess thats inevitable when you keep releasing games with little to no changes, at some point people stop carrying and a competing franchise that did evolve will take over, take note Activision, this could be CoD in a few years.

I'm not surprised. Tony Hawk stopped being relevant a long time ago and to think you can squeeze more money out of the franchise after disappointing gamers so many times is just insanity.

Me too.

Also, I thought it got boring after Underground 2 came out. Regardless to what alot of people say, I loved playing both of the Undergrounds.
