I didn't know that this game even existed. If you can't even get the interest of gamers then it doesn't surprise me that this game tanked.

Although I haven't tried it myself. No doubt word of mouth about it's asinine controller thing killed it. I certainly heard nothing good about the first. Did IT do well? I don't think it did and sequels to things that do badly tend to... guess.

I walked in to the store once and saw it and thought: "Why are there so much Tony Hawk: Ride stuff here?"
I got closer and saw Shred and thought: "What the fudgewaffle ( I didn't think fudgewaffle) is that?"

Their commercial seemed to have failed a little.

I think I have heard of this game maybe once, and I certainly didn't know it was coming out now. And 3000 units? Wow, how did I now hear about that.

3,000? Really? I should just buy one out of pity. That is a disgusting number.

It's their fault for shitty marketing.

I didn't even know this was being made, let alone released. Maybe their marketing had something to do with it.
Same here. I had no clue about the existence of this game.

I remember playing the hell out of Pro Skater 2 on the N64. God, I loved that game so much. It's a crying shame, because up until Underground 2, the series was still fun to play. I'm kinda baffled by some of the decisions made. For instance, why was there no publicity or ads surrounding the game? If Activision knew or suspected that not a lot of people would buy a sequel, then why even greenlight it to begin with? Why proceed with Shred instead of going to back to the drawing board? Why not just kill the franchise for now?

Seems like Activision had to spend that Call of Duty money on something...

I only knew about it because I now work at a Gamestop so I noticed it there. I didn't see any ads or anything for it besides it in the store. I am pretty sure the series is now dead, since it isn't selling much anymore.

I've heard absolutely nothing about this game, i think that could be the problem.
Same here. Total absence of advertising and no fanboy, media frenzy? Sounds like this series is going the way of the dinosaur.

The first Tony Hawks Proskater game was the best. I never really liked the other ones.

Perhaps this IP has finally run it's course?

Fifa does well due to the large number of football fans, and (in the UK) there is a bit of competition between fifa owners. I once had to write someone a letter of apologising for my poor performance and wasting his time when I lost 7-0 to them. He has it pinned to his wall still.
Though it pains me to say it in my Irish and Australian roots, you, my friend come from an awesome country

I didn't even know this thing existed.

The reason this series is tanking is because they stopped making new, challenging games, and instead focused on putting in new "innovations" that completely removed the challenge. Plus, the terrible board peripheral.

You know everything was going good up until Underground, then they had to fuck it all up.

I'd say my reaction to this thread sums up a possible reason for this;

"There's a new Tony Hawk game?"

I guess marketing DOES matter after all. Also I only knew that DJ Hero 2 existed when I saw it on a shelf while I was looking for Halo Reach.

So yeah...

This, pretty much. I was also completely unaware that another Tony Hawk game came out.

Not that I would have actually BOUGHT it, mind you.
