"There was an initial outcry about the long pants - you know, skintight pants as opposed to those little shorts [worn by Lynda Carter in the original TV series]," Greenblatt told TVLine.com [http://www.tvline.com/2011/04/nbc-wonder-woman-third-costume/]. "But the shorts were always planned.
Yes, I can just imagine the folks that complained about her not wearing the old Lynda Carter outfit.

They're outraged just at the very thought.

I think some of us are forgetting that the premise is what needs to be reworked more than the costume at this point. I can't remember the exact quote from the last Wonder Woman forum topic but it was something along the lines of "campy, goofy comedy with pop music" and those words hurt my eyes more than the costume choices.

Wonder Woman's costume was going to fail whatever they did. You just can't make her look like Wonder Woman without her looking utterly ridiculous.

That or they make a dull replacement.

Why stop there NBC, lets make Wonder Woman an ex-Bunny Ranch worker or a stripper while were at it. That will get ratings, not some boring as CEO. Which BTW LOL at GE trying to turn CEO's into something heroic instead of the bottom of the barrel scum they really are. Fuck off NBC.

First of all, why do I seem to be the only one that thinks that those are in no way, shape, or form, shorts? That is a leotard, sir, except in the case where the top and bottom are not connected, then those are panties.

Secondly, all this fuss over costume changes in a made-for-TV series? Really?

I have no real interest in it, but that first costume was legitimately awful. It looked like a horrible cross between a cheap Halloween costume and a vinyl fetish suit.

The newer pants actually looked pretty decent and certainly looked much less cheap. "Those little shorts" seem a little cheap and fan-servicy again even if there is history behind it.
That's more or less my take on it. I'm not a fan, so I don't have a pair of rose-tinted glasses, and in my opinion the second costume looked best (non-shiny pants).

I thought the change to red boots was enough.

It's awkward showing so much skin in reality in faithfulness to the original material when real people don't have perfect bodies, and are victim to the infamous crotch shots and nip-slips of discerning viewers...

...It's just harder to suspend belief that a strong woman would be running around combatting injustice in such a skimpy outfit when it's a real person in there...

Yeah, for me, Lynda Carter will always be wonder women. No matter how cheesy that 70s show was, she was just...O....M.....G beautiful...(=O

Part of me thinks that if the show bombs it'll be because they kept trying too hard to please everyone. But on the other hand, there haven't been too many shows that starred female heroes that were successful. Birds of Prey comes to mind whenever I think of this.

I am not getting to excited about this. Probably the "little shorts" will be those blue diapers that pass for shorts in America. Nothing like the real hot pants my college students wear in class here in Brazil.

I think the show would do a lot better realizing they can't please everyone and just design a good costume for their purpose.
