My sister would go into coma of excitement if I told her this. Better keep it on the down low then.

Why a water bender... Its just Katara made over sounds like. That's the only thing that disappoints me.
Does the Avatar cycle ring a bell? Air Water Earth Fire.
The could have skipped a generation... Like instead of 70 years 160 years.

Not disputing your find at all, I wholeheartedly trust the validity of the story. I just like it when I can see the source it's coming from!

True, but then many fans would have been upset that that they skipped a generation. Continuity is important.

Edit: The point I was making was more of an explanation on why they went with a waterbender. It's just common sense to keep it along the avatar cycle.

SPOILERS!! That was my problem too, it's like the writers thought " oh shit how are we going to end this with out killing someone" and then they throw in this random character (or island?) in the second last episode (I think) and he gives Aang this completely unexplained bullshit power
But having Aang kill Ozai would have been completely against his character, he spent most of the third season stressing about having to actually kill someone and how it goes against everything he believes in.
Its not the that Aang didn't kill someone i have problems with, its the way he stopped the Qzai and how he got the power to do so.

Thinking about it, Korra should be able to kill someone since she isn't limited by being a monk, although it wont happen in a cartoon, I know.

Onside note: no wonder the air benders got slaughtered, if they refused to kill anyone.
Um...the lion turtle wasn't just "out of the blue". If you watch closely he been in many episodes. And I thought it was about time they actually show some screen time about the creature and more of the lore of avatar world.

Sadly, it was also pretty much all the Nickelodeon censors would let them get away with. I think two seperate scripts for the finale were rejected before they got one that the censors would let them show.

There's also this interview [http://blogs.wsj.com/speakeasy/2010/07/21/legend-of-korra-the-creators-of-avatar-the-last-airbender-on-the-new-spinoff/] with the Wall Street Journal that gives some details.

Aang is dead, and by the time of this series will have been so for a good 16 years or so, that's why there's a new Avatar.

What did you guys think of the live-action version of ?The Last Airbender??

Konietzko: We?re just really focused on this new show right now, and kind of taking this off in its own direction and not concerning ourselves with that right now.
Translation: see no evil, speak no evil.

OT: I think I just came.*checks out pants* Yep.
This is freakin awesome news! One of the best shows on T.V(cartoon wise) is coming back!

This series was so kick ass the first time around. While a kids show it was actually funny, and some of the martial arts were just plain sweet. Not to mention it had very good Asian mythology that was very interesting when the show delved into it. I will totallt watch this when it comes out.

Probably would have cost to much to do the CGI for Omashu XD

I may have to watch the series all the way through now. I only watched episodes as they were on, and never saw the finale. I liked what I saw, so I'll probably watch the episodes online or something.

As a side note, kind of off-topic, but the short episode with backstory about Uncle Iroh's son has to be the greatest episode I've seen in a while for anything. Which is interesting because it's not even story related.

Oh hell yes. I wonder if rifles or other steampunk weaponry is getting involved.
I don't see why not, the Fire Nation was practically on the verge of firearms, no pun intended, and were using advancements in machinery that the other nations did not have access to. I wouldn't be surprised if they had steam-powered automatons and auto-carriages. You have to love steam-punk.

The movie is not that bad time compressed to hell but not that bad.At least it didn't try and turn into fou mysticism BS in the real world like say....Dragon ball evolution...........

Wow from Middle Ages to "Modern Times" kind of city, in 70 years is damn fast ! did they used Merlin's wand again ?
Not really that medieval and not really modern times when you think about it.
Remember the fire nation had tanks and zeppelins! Also you would think that a society that could master the four elements would progress faster. Particularly into a steam-punk society (water + fire).
Exactly. And that's the kind of intelligent, thought-out writing that made the first show so friggin' awesome. And, hell, the world has had 70 more years of Sokka. I'm half surprised they haven't figured out space travel yet.

Not to mention, just think what the Earth Kingdom could do if Toph was able to teach Metalbending to others.
Between Metalbending and Sokka, they SHOULD have space travel by now!
