If they want to be thought of as a legitimate world nation, Nigeria should more actively prosecute scammers instead of giving them silent assent.

Huh, so that's why they changed it to "Bernie, you can't believe everything you see on the internet. That's how World War 1 got started." Oh noez! now War veterans are going to get offended by that, no? Gawrsh, what a screw up...

Seriously, I didn't even know about the apparent "insult" to Nigeria. I just thought they took "millionaire", put a random country in front of that, and thus made a wise-crack. But really? Nigeria offended by a minuscule advertisement when they've sort of got other things to worry about?

"Bernie, you can't believe everything you read on the internet, otherwise I'd be a Nigerian millionaire by now."

What's wrong with this? I've received quite a lot of e-mails from "Nigerian princes" or the lawyer of the president of "Nigeria".

If they really want Sony to remove that add then they should really start giving a fuck about Nigeria being full of sons of the President.

Oh noes, the tiny country of Nigeria doesn't like a commercial.

That's it, Sony is going to go under.
Yeah it's not like Nigeria is the 8th most populous country in the world or anything, or twice the size of California

Oh wait, it's both those things.

Anyway I'm not sure what to make of this. I mean yeah it was a dig but on the other hand...Nigerian Banking Scams

Also it's incredibly hard to get Sony to ever admit they fucked up. Hell when people called them on the bullshit that was "All I want for Christmas is a PSP" they said "You caught us. I guess our dialogue was too funky!"
You are on EVERY thread bashing Sony. Shouldn't you be doing something worthwhile?

Yeah I guess I should go get my degree oh wait I already did that. Wow I am so sorry I don't share your grand vision of the future where Sony is king or whatever. I wasn't even being that mean. I guess we should just pretend Sony is a company that hasn't ever done anything monumentally stupid or misleading. And we've always been at war with Eastasia.

Better question is how in the world you can pretend to have some sort of lifestyle high ground on me when you yourself are on an internet forum, telling someone to get a life. (irony, lol)
... and here we see the anti-fan troll in its native habitat, a gaming forum. They can have a variety of colored plumage, but their main feature is attempting to use facts they looked up on wikipedia or a graphics degree they scrounged up from a community college.
This one in particular will probably never mate, poor chap, seeing as his camoflauge is very poorly developed, even for his sub-species.

Also, they like to flaunt the fact they read 50 pages into the classic 1984, cuz dat thar maeks u smrt!

So did I. Are you making a point or just overreacting? I guess it would be the latter since the rest of your reply is a whiny knee jerk explosion of ignorance. Believe it or not but the world is made of more then just black and white where everything in the world is solid gold or solid shit. If you go through life putting everything (like Sony) in extremes and ASSUMING everyone elses opinion (I always wondered what happened to you Miss Cleo) then I feel so sorry for you and everyone you know.

Sony should say they would offer 150 million US DOLLARS restitution, but the nigerian government needs to provide money for legal costs and administration fees first, to the tune of a few mill.
This I'm sure the Nigerian government would find the irony simply delicious

It was nice to see a big company show some tongue and cheek humor.

I laughed. That's all I care about.
Yeh, that's about right. That little line raised a smile with me as well. Following on from what Aardvark said, Sony should also request all the account details and security information relating to the Nigerian government, in order to ensure any compensation is delivered without delay.

I wonder if they have seen District 9 yet, did that film not feature a large group of scheming Nigerian con artists? Cat food is the way to go....

I simply pointed out that, while I'm not even sure they're in the wrong, Sony has a record of not admitting wrongdoing. I cited an example, you seemed to have taken this as bashing. Once again ironic since you're telling me everything's not black and white when in fact it was your presumption as such that led you to feel the need to tell me to do something worthwhile with my time. And since you have assumed my opinion and the amount of free time I have, I guess the Miss Cleo comment is directed at yourself in some sort of post-modern dissociative personality disorder.

I already made my point, you just missed it.

That is not racist at all. He obviously wasn't making fun of Nigeria, he's making fun of internet scams. If anything, the internet scams are racist... it's sad that I have to point that out.

Worcester Polytechnic Institute is one hell of a community college.
For a community college of course.

Also, you said you have a problem with Sony not admitting they were wrong on something you aren't even sure they are wrong on.

No if I said that I would've said something along the lines of "yeah they should apologize" not something along the lines of "I don't think they should apologize but even if they should I doubt they would because of A), B) and C)"

Screw Nigeria. I might give them the benefit of the doubt about their credibility if my e-mail account wasn't full of their scams. Their national flag should be a bandit mask.

This is a great idea! It's a good thing I happen to work for Sony and can make this a reality. All I need from you is...

Before I face mod wrath, I'll just say that whoever go angry at this is entirely too sensitive and obviously not aware of the joke.

Government officials no doubt realize it would be a PR coup to have a gigantic multinational like Sony publicly state that not everyone from Nigeria is out to swipe your hard-earned cash...

Sony seems so constricted by everyone's(sometimes just sometimes unjust)complaints that they never have the opportunity to mellow themselves out. I think they just tried to shed their expensive image with this ad aswell as presenting themselves as a mellow company.
Its a bit too late for Sony to try and make themselves presentable don't you think? [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/94287-A-Look-Back-at-Sonys-Bizarre-PS3-Advertising]

Man Nigeria needs to chill the fuck out. Could you imagine how many apologies Canada would demand for every joke a comedian makes at our military?

Ooooh you're so cute when you try to be witty ^_^ But let's go over this again. You say that Sony doesn't admit when they are wrong. Guess what buddy, NO company in the entire world ADMITS that that are wrong. Its a common business practice. Even Monsanto, who has paid BILLIONS in damages to people, animals, and ecosystems, never ADMIT to doing wrong. EVER.

Two, you can put a new mask on whatever you said and have said but it's still the same underneath- A needless bash on Sony. Now you're free to have preferences and opinions on things but really, how many times and how many ways can you say the same thing."I dont like Sony". Yes AceDiamond, you don't like Sony. We understand that. We heard you loud and clear, and it's getting VERY old.

Third, "NO YOU ARE!" Is not an argument, no matter how complex you try to make it sound. Nice try though.
