I think the next logical step is...

... for Sony to make an advert showing the Nigerian government, running web scams to increase it's budget!
Having read a bit about government in Nigeria since independence, I wouldn't say it's much of a strech...but then again I'd say the same for Russia and a fair few other states...

I don't complain when Irish people are stereotyped as drunken wife-beaters, or IRA nutjobs so I think they need to calm down.

three points i want to make here:

1. i think the WWI line is funnier anyway.

2. i love all the people who believe those spam messages actually come from Nigeria.

3. RPI > WPI.

that is all.

Let's see... Sony offended Christians with a Playstation ad depicting a man that resembles the popularized image of what people think Jesus looks like wearing a crown of thorns with the four Dual shock button characters in the crown.

They made ad that depicted black a back woman conflicting with a white woman to sell PSPs that some viewed as racist (against which race, I cannot say).

And now they've gone and P.O.ed Nigeria.

I think sooner or later, they'll just crap on everyone.

That is not racist at all. He obviously wasn't making fun of Nigeria, he's making fun of internet scams. If anything, the internet scams are racist... it's sad that I have to point that out.
This. People can't be so hyper sensitive. Not everything is about whether you're black, white, yellow, or red.
Seconded.

Dear Nigeria.

We're sorry that you were offended by a minor joke involving a problem you can't even deal with in your OWN country. We also apreciate the fact that bugging us about nothing is worth far more then saving nigerian lives.

Sincerely Sony.

p.s. Stop spamming me, and if it's not spam then all 400 of your prince children are trying to overthrow you and are trying to rob your country blind.
Thank you, that was the laugh I needed for the evening. :D

A coworker/friend of mine had a true blue (well, black) Nigerian for a roommate. He stole her identity, destroyed her credit rating, and on top of everything else, bailed on his lease, leaving her to pay for the whole apartment with frozen accounts.

No, it's not right to persecute the whole of a nation for the actions of a slim few, but when those "slim few" cause this much grief, fuck them. Blockade Nigeria, don't let em out of their borders, don't let them have access to phones or internet, and maybe the world will be a better place.
Well, I don't know about your friend's friend, but I knew a Nigerian (or a son of Nigerian immigrants, I can't remember which), and he was pretty nice. Anyways, I recommend not judging people on their race, ethnicity, religion, etc. Every group has their fair share of assholes and nice people. And as this guy said:

I don't really think all those scams come from Nigeria anyway. Probably some Western scammers.

Honestly, I find the stupid 'PlayStation' bit at the end of their adverts more annoying than their casual racism.
Racism? My god give me a break.
Casual racism seemed to be the best way to describe it. Sorry if I offended you.
The word you are looking for is ethnocentrism.

Wow. He sounds like a nice guy. Did he ever get his comeuppance?

Instead of going after Sony for giving people the wrong idea about their country, they should track down the person who started that email scam and go after him/her/them.
I mean, what's worse for their image? The fact that Sony mentioned the email scam in their advertisement, or the fact we all know what that advertisement was referring to?

I find it hard to believe Sony will apologize. It's not like they were lying about anything. I get 5 emails a day about how I am the beneficiary of some random guy's money and how they need my bank account number.

What the fuck!? This literally has nothing to do with Nigeria!

How many of those ridiculous e-mail senders are really from Nigeria!?

Oh noes, the tiny country of Nigeria doesn't like a commercial.

That's it, Sony is going to go under.
Yeah it's not like Nigeria is the 8th most populous country in the world or anything, or twice the size of California

Oh wait, it's both those things.

Anyway I'm not sure what to make of this. I mean yeah it was a dig but on the other hand...Nigerian Banking Scams

Also it's incredibly hard to get Sony to ever admit they fucked up. Hell when people called them on the bullshit that was "All I want for Christmas is a PSP" they said "You caught us. I guess our dialogue was too funky!"
With an average GDP of $2,134 per capita I don't think they're a very big market for Sony's Plasma TVs and PS3s.
