First thought upon seeing the news: "Huh...this seems slightly......uninspired."

First thought upon finishing watching the video: "Okay, so the wall-merging kinda seems like an interesting puzzle-mechanic, so I guess that that can be somewhat interesting."

But more importantly, Link's left-handed again!

I would normally be excited about a new zelda game but... A> reggie creeps me out when he talks and B> the art direction on this is just so.. bland and uninteresting. which is not something I'd expect from Zelda. Wind Waker and its DS sequels) had so much colour and personality, this looks like a top-down Mario but more lifeless.
I totally agree about the art direction, I actually prefer the color palette of the original. CVG posted an image which compares the two versions, side by side:

http://www.computerandvideogames.com/401726/blog/its-snes-vs-3ds-in-this-zelda-link-to-the-past-image/

I hate the fact that it looks like the map is also just copy+paste from the SNES version. They better expand the world with areas outside the SNES version, otherwise this is very disappointing news for me. I love 2D Zelda, but so far this looks like too much of a rehash to really get me excited about it.

Ok I must must must have this. Oh.. damn need a 3ds. Sad I will most likely buy one just to have this game. Best Zelda of all time gets a sequel. I need new pants.

EDIT: Also re-reading the article, how is it that the Magic Hammer is new? It was in A Link to the Past 1, but I am pretty sure it was introduced in Zelda II: Adventure of Link, used to remove the boulders from the overworld map.

Well, considering that the DS Zeldas were both based on The Wind Waker, I suppose it makes some kind of sense to also have a 3DS Zelda set in roughly the same period as a previous Zelda.

There's really not enough information available for me to be excited OR dismissive, though. I'll wait and see what happens.

This is quite possibly the single most exciting news I shall hear all day... Thank you.

This'll be my first new Zelda game since Twilight Princess. I avoided Skyward Sword and the DS ones because of the gimmicky controls.
Skyward Sword was bad for a multitude of reasons but the controls actually worked really well in my opinion. I'll agree with you on the DS ones though. Hopefully they learned their lesson and the shitty touchscreen gimmicks will be kept to a minimum on this one. Shitty 3d gimmicks I can tolerate. In either case, I'm interested.

Oh boy, a ZELDA title? Haven't seen THAT before. Oh and in 3D no less. I actually think I might need to burn my money just so that it can't ever be spent on such a thing.

Go away Nintendo, you can have my money when I finally get a Majora's Mask port to the 3DS.

I hear you. I have an Android tablet and phone. Do I really need a 3DS? For this I do. I loved Link to the Past on SNES and this looks to have some new mechanics I'd enjoy.

It looks like they're really pushing for this system. Now I have to look into buying one.

And yes, in Link 2 on NES you had a hammer you used to smash rocks that blocked paths.

A sequel to Link to the Past? Not only did the first one have a conclusive ending, but they are decade late to even consider a direct sequel. I mean with the 20 year gap between the original game and this one, the majority of the mainstream demographic will be in their late 20s or 30s now. I get that the original game was re-released multiple times, so younger audiences may still remember the storyline, but there is no reason why they can't release a new original title and not resort to fanservice catering to a niche older demographic.

It's why I loved Wind Waker so much, which had the confidence to re-invent the world, characters and visual style.

And, Nintendo seems to be out of ideas completely now...<.<
Dang not even the first page and already someone is posting about the video without watching it.

For link being able to meld into walls and traverse new areas to solve puzzles is a new idea.

Sure a lot of the landscape is based on nostalgia but if they are just taking an already great setting and adding new puzzles and mechanics into the game I am all for it.
Just because they gave it a new gimmick and re-made the environments doesn't mean it's all that new. I'm still excited and am planning to buy it, but don't be like Nintendo and piss down our ears and tell us its raining. Because it's not a new idea it's an edited old one. I'd have been more impressed with a new Zelda game like a clock work Hyrule where Link has to save Zelda/Hyrule from the evil master inventor Ganandorf, you know just something new and fresh out of the zelda formula for the 3ds.

I'm actually kind of excited for this. Don't worry I'll flog myself later for this indiscretion.

I'm sorry, but WHAT? A Link to the Past didn't really have anywhere to take a direct sequel! What the hell Nintendo? This is why I never get excited anymore.

I don't understand the point of a Link to the Past sequel but, hell, Zelda is yet to disappoint me.

I just feel like I'm being pandered to, is all.

Hold on! They're making another Zelda game AND it's completely catering toward nostalgia?

Paint me Susan and call me orange!

I NEVER would have seen this coming!

I wonder what's going to happen THIS time!!

I'll try to contain my excitement!
Ya I think hell must be being a developer for Nintendo, constantly remaking the same game over and over and over. The only thing that would be worse would be being a COD developer.

I'll buy it :). I'd prefer the older art style, but this is ok. A Link to the past is my 2nd favorite Zelda game of all time, just under Majora's Mask.
