Haven't they said that before? I've heard someone from Nintendo say before that "All Zelda games have a different Link." The games are still fun, and the timeline theories are pretty good, but I've always thought that each game was a different world.

I think Nintendo leave there "EPIC STORYLINES" to games like Metroid. But Legend of Zelda games do have good stories to them though it would be nice to have a story arc across the whole series.

I've seen split timeline theories and videos before, and sure, they make it seem like it works. And the whole Oracle of Seasons and Ages endings where link crosses to the other one made it seem like they were in seperate time lines, but to send this idea to Nintendo and being like "Hey, make my fanism cannon" is just kinda stupid. Especially now that he thinks a petition is gonna change anything.

I loved the idea of there actually being real meaning behind everything. They could've made it work if they'd just think about it for more than a second; it worked with the Metal Gear series and the same with the Half-Life one.

I'm not angry or anything, just a little... surprised. I always loved the story, and the fact that you were just one Link of many Links was a cool idea.

Bad Nintendo.

Whether his timeline is correct or not I can't say because I've haven't played most of the Zelda games, but it's clear Nintendo did not watch his video and merely sent him an automated response. To me that seems a little rude.

I don't realy see the issue with them being different Links or how its even posible that they are all the same guy. TP, OoT, and WW made it clear to me that they were all different people. Seeing TP Link is from Or, OoT Link is from Kokiri, and WW Link is from Outset island.

Did you watch the video?

Nintendo has always said that there was never one single Link, and the video that was created and sent to Nintendo was nothing to do with there being a problem with different Links. The Zelda fans accepted that there are different ones a very long time ago.

The point is that the creater of Zelda (Shigeru Miyamoto) has always said that there is a solid timeline and that each game has a place in said timeline. So lots of people have speculated on what the timeline could be, eventually with that Youtube video being sent to Nintendo asking them if it was correct.

Then Nintendo respond with "there isn't a true frame of reference or timeline possible for the series." Which, of course, has made some people angry and annoyed, because they believed there was a true and solid (though, un-told) timeline. And for me, knowing that a timeline existed made the Zelda games all the more interesting.

Now, though, each Zelda game will just feel like a different world that doesn't matter. And that isn't cool.

Yeah, exactly, and I think that Nintendo don't speak for Shigeru Miyamoto. He clearly stated a while back that there was a timeline that only they knew. I think the letter sent to the video creater was literally an automated response, that actually means nothing.

Unless someone hears from Shigeru Miyamoto specifically, nothing else regarding the Zelda storyline matters.

Well it is sort of common knowledge that Nintendo has (as of late,) been a for-profit company to the core ...
Because they used to be a charity or something?
No, but it seemed they were much more intent on producing great games over producing safe games that increase sales.

Yeah, you'd think he'd learn after being killed so many times. It's like he's a reoccurring villain in several episodes of Scooby Doo.

What I'm more interested in, is that the royal family always names the daughters Zelda. Even more interesting, they always get daughters. And here's a really weird one, why won't they put out when the Links save them? I mean, not even a kiss on the cheek. Every Zelda seems to have the same personality, it's like they're possessed by a ghost. With Princess Peach it's understandable, she is the same person who fell on her head as a child, but one of them should at least thank him for selflessly saving all of Hyrule. Or is he supposed to walk home without a reward. But I digress, maybe they'll answer these questions in the next game. And maybe I'll stop eating crisps, instead of promising myself I will.

(Also, it should be called Legend of Zeldas
Or any villains period, who dealt with the Scooby Doo gang. They were always really dumb.

They Royal Family probably does have other children, but they're loser deadbeat sons, so you never see them.

And she does put out, it's in the extended & uncut versions that haven't been released yet for certain legal reasons. XP
I'm pretty sure Nintendo would rather kill themselves than even hint about sex in one of their games and lose their precious "family friendly" image...they need that image to attract droves of small children, and, consequentely, pedophiles to buy their systems and make record sales numbers so that Miyamoto can afford to buy another whorehouse to go on his 5 mile long, 30 story yacht...maybe I'm just bitter that I don't have a yacht... :(

I was under the impression that the "there's a new Link for each game" thing was made clear YEARS ago. That's what I've always told people on the (admittedly rare) occasions when it came up.

While I wholeheartedly agree with and support Nintendo's official statement...didn't Miyamoto and Aonuma actually say it was 'in their opinion'?

Fan speculation is something I approve of as a way to pass the time, or indulge in a series that you honestly enjoy. But don't ever try to move your speculation as something authoritative or infallible proof: it's still speculation. Don't spend so much time working yourself up over it. Instead, just have fun.

They said it was a new Link and Zelda in every new game in the game, except I don't know about Ganondorf. However that is the reason I became more attached with the characters in OoT, because it was the first one I played and all the others besides MM have different Links.

As far as any of us know, they may make a game that revisits all the past Links, and connects the series. Maybe Nintendo doesn't want to give anything away. Or, more logically they're just games.
