It's sad, and yes it is the game's fault, but it was purely by accident. The girl just as easily could have been watching a television show about dogs with the same result. Releasing a piece of media with barking in it isn't really an evil act.

Grand parents=parents.
As it is I was talking about in general, in general the majority of the time the parents aren't blamed in the media, or when the event is shocking, Oh Im sure they are blamed by the cops and such, but the media and the general populace never blame the parents.

and in this instance the dog belonged to the grand mother I believe.

I'm sure the dog would have come running whether it was the sound of a dog barking, or the sound of the girl entering a random battle or burning her food on Cooking Mama.
Usually if a dog hears noises in the house, it will run to protect the humans and realised the noises were coming from the little girl, so attacked her. Although obviously this dog was a little too violent
And if she kicked the dog, RSPCA should question her.

If this story isn't complete and utter bullshit, like Daily Mail usually make up, I hope the little girl is okay.

If the game caused the attack, wouldn't the dog attack the game instead? That is where the noises are coming from.

When I was playing Cabela's Big Game Hunter on and in the middle of bird hunting I used a goose call and my dog jumped up. He ran to my door and started barking thinking there was a goose outside. I used the goose call a few times and it confused him even more. Animal confusion can happen, in the end no one is to blame it was an unfortunate accident. But the idiots shouldn't have that type of dog around a kid, that's how all the dog attack stories are.

Right, a huge dog inside with a tiny child, couldn't see how that could go wrong...

This thing turning into an attack on games is just stupid.
I blame the dog's owner, and maybe even the girl, if it turns out she was provoking him somehow.
Regardless, I hope the girl turns out okay.

GRRR CUTE PUPPY NOISES I MUST MAUL!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes, sound exactly like the kind of dog that's safe to have around children.

Also, if it was the game, why didn't it go for the DS?

It's a bull mastiff. Why was it inside with a nine year old child in the first place?
Depends on the dog.

My grandparents have had a lot of bull mastiffs. 2 in my life time. They wouldn't let me near Sorber(ass hole of a dog.) But Cyril was a lovely dog and wouldn't hurt a fly, a dog attacked him once and he pretty much refused to fight back.

Dog did not belong to the girl's family, they weren't in their own home so your "how could they have a dog like that around a 9 year old" crap can end. Most of the issue is that the dog attacked with very little provocation and that is the dog owner's fault. If the little girl had been kicking the dog (and with where the dog bit her initially seems likely) the little girl deserved to be bitten.

Here is probably what happened. Puppies bark on video game. Dog comes running because he thinks he hears a new friend in the house. Runs up to girl and probably starts sniffing the DS or the girl. Girl is frightened by large dog and kicks it in the face. Her foot is conveniently close because of this and has caused the dog some pain so it grabs the foot and drags her off the couch.
I should be a detective.

yeah sure, of course it's the games fault, has nothing to do with the fact that the girls family wasn't watching a god damn bull mastiff around a 9 year old. and besides, even if the dog was stupid enough to think a game bark sounded anything like a real dog, i'm pretty sure 9 year old girls don't look or smell anything like dogs, so blame the parents, blame the dog, don't blame the god damn game. the mastiff never tackled the tv when dogs were on that.

HOLY FUCK!!!!

Dont blame the game, blame the dumbass parents who got that thing, its almost as big as a fucking horse.

Oh don't be scared. They're lovely. I got a dog who is a bull mastiff cross...he doesn't have the loveable squishy face of that mastiff, instead he's got more of a terrier's head. But bigger.
And he's lovely. Breed and size of dog doesn't matter. You train a dog well, he'll behave well regardless of his breed. I fight with the big guy...he never uses his teeth, he just punches me out instead.

Honestly, anybody that's calling out 'bull mastiff' as though it's an armed bomb is seriously ignorant. It might amuse you to know that the only dogs that ever attacked me were border collies...which is getting to the point of being suspicious. Golden retrievers can be as deadly as a pitbull if you spend their lives beating them. It's training, people, not breed.
Oh, I have no doubt that almost all dogs are nice (save pitbulls, but thats another story), but that doesnt retract from the fact thats the only dog Ive seen bigger was a Great Dane which the owners little girl was actually riding around on the back of... which I dont think is to healthy for the dog regardless of size. I really have a preference for little dogs, largely from living in the city where big dogs cause problems... Plus any dog that if was to jump on me could knock me over with minimal effert does cause me to raise my defences...

Naturally, the crotchety old organ-vault can't oversell enough how much she blames the video game for [EDIT: some random goober's (because that's so much more reasonable then)] pet gorilla mauling her granddaughter.

Dogs are territorial, especially towards other dogs they don't know. This is common knowledge. Just an unfortunate situation.

I've said it before and I've said it again:

You should probably never own a pet that can kill you if it decided to.

Okay. The title itself shows that this is ridiculous. Back then when I played Nintendogs, I never got attacked by a dog. I mostly played it at home, but still, blaming a game for an attack like that is just...ugh.

Okay. I just read half of the article and I still find it weird. A video game noise summons a dog to attack a little girl. What? I rather blame the dog's owner than the game. That's like saying the sound of Naughty Dog's barking from the PS1 Crash Bandicoot games would make a random dog attack me.

Nope. "Family Friend". Not even related, according to the article.
