So... They're suffering from shovelware inflation? Poetic justice I guess.

Still, I wouldn't go as far as saying this is the "downfall of Nintendo": The Wii and the DS will always sell, regardless of the quality of the games. The Wii alone has been out for several years now, so that's several years worth of shovelware, yet it's still selling pretty well. So yeah, I don't think this is the end of Nintendo.

Nintendo will always have a market, but they will loose alot of their long time customers if things keep going like this.
Not if they still release the likes of Mario or Zelda they won't.

You can't pirate Pokemon, thus the system isn't dead. QED.

PS - Obviously there's cracks and shit, but your average R4 can't run it no matter what you do. It'll eventually crash on you and corrupt the save file.
I think the New Supercard DS two works fine with Pokemon, Obviously you dont get a pokewalker but what the hey. Although I dont like pokemon anyway, not when there is Shin megami tensai games to play

Another doomsday prophecy for a console that will probably never happen.
With a slight twist. All that fire and death is suppost to be happening right now.

Nope, still good.

Finally!

Maybe this hard slap across the face, will bring Nintendo back on track and stop selling franchises and gimmicks, instead of games.

Wait, this is considered news?

Because of course BANDAI is a completley independent and unbiased observer, not, rather, a direct competitor with Nintendo

Game publishers, "we ruined the Wii market by releasing tat so what are you going to do about it to save our asses Nintendo? You suck Nintendo, you are in trouble and it is all your fault for letting us spoil the market by releasing bad games."
You just said exactly what I was thinking, my friend.

I'll repeat my thoughts after EA complained about nobody buying 'Dead Space: Extraction'

You can not starve a person for years and then complain when their corpse doesn't eat the five course meal you spent all day cooking.

If these companies actually got off their collective butts when the Wii first came out (when there was a ravenous audience waiting for 'hardcore' games) and actually made some decent games that played to the system's strengths (instead of just porting PS2 games with tacked-on motion controls) then the market for the console wouldn't be as lop-sided as it is now.

rather like to think they have plateaued rather than collapsed. Wait for E3, im sure nintendo will come out with some other peripheral that will spike the hardware sales again. They have proven for 3 years now that they dont need software to make money XD

Don't see it. Besides, the PS2 had just as much (probably more) shovelware and that did alright.

Don't forget the 3DS either.

I'm going to be severely pessimistic and use the past to predict the future.

What's really sad however is I can easily list many great Wii and DS games that make the consoles worth it but in most cases have sold poorly.

I was down at my parents the other day and was talking to my mom about games. She said she was utterly disappointed with the Wii and the majority of the games sucked... I told her I loved her, XD.

While Nintendo today does have a market for their products. I believe that with time that market will surely die. My girlfriend and both of her sisters all own a Wii and fall under the "Non-gamer" statistic, but they only ever buy a game for the Wii once a year when a generally good Wii game comes out. shattered memories, Super Mario Brothers Wii, or Mario Kart to name a few examples.

Their collections of games combined doesn't even make a dent in the collection of games I have for the simple reason that they can not find games for their console of choice that they find appealing. Some one in a previous post had mentioned something about uneducated buyers not knowing what they're buying, I feel this says a lot about Nintendo's decision making when 3 uneducated buyers won't touch the majority of the games for their system due to their lack of quality or overall appeal.

Umm...he does realize that Nintendo's market currently IS the casual gaming market, right? The people who care about prices and don't know how to pirate games? And did he forget that Nintendo is still making hundreds of thousands of dollars EVERY MONTH?

Research and common sense are your friends, Olivier Comte.

And that's why real pirates use CycloDS!
