WHich is really interesting because, I sold my Xbox 360 and Ps3 BECAUSE I couldn't stand the so-called 'hardcore' gaming culture today. Bickering and fighting, career gamers, over saturation of formula. I am not going back to either brand unless they start catering for 'hardcore' gamers who aren't multiplayers. Finding a decent single player experience SHOULDN'T be hard, and it shouldn't be only in a selection of genres.
So I went for a Wii. Why? Because it matched my lifestyle - I can play without pressure, there's no need to play constantly to 'stay on the ball', and there are many bite sized games and a lot of variation. AND the hardcore games are not many, but they are stellar. My library for Wii is a fraction of what I had for the other two systems, but whenever I slip into Samus's suit, or play Muramasa, Project Zero, or SMG - I don't care.
I miss the RPGs like FO3 and ME1 and 2, but they weren't worth suffering the over focus on multiplayer and the whiny community. I am glad I am out. I can say that I love SMG or Metroid Prime Tril, and who jumps down my throat for it? Who lectures me in 'gaming history' or posts screenshots with circles drawn around jaggies and pixels?
So, I really don't like it when these business men (usually in the Western branches of these developers) talk about gaming with the multiplayer 'hardcore' as the model crowd.
