So is microsoft's definition of an exclusive is that it comes out on Xbox and PC. Cause I'm not sure if that how their supposed to work. I mean I don't see KZ2 or Infamous on PC.
Yes, it is considered a "Console Exclusive" and Microsoft practically owns PCs so yes, it considered Microsoft Exclusive if it's on PC, Xbox, or both.
The that makes me feel bad for 360 fans when their exclusives are nothing more than PC ports. I mean rally the only way you can judge a console is in its exclusives. I mean its just my opinion but if you offer a console version of a game and then a pc version. I'm going to go pc everytime, if only for the greater amount of community interaction with the game. I actually glad that microsoft didn't port halo 3 or GOW2 to the pc and actually gave people a reason to play the console.
I don't see them as Ports, Microsoft own a huge portion of the PC market so of course they would want to release games on both consoles. As long as they aren't for PS3/Wii, I don't think they care.
Then that really only seems to be encouraging people to just get PS3 and PCs to play games. Sure you might miss a few exclusives but for the most part you won't miss any games. Plus accesories for the PC are much cheeper than the one on the 360. Hmmmm 10 bucks for a wireless router or 90 bucks? Decisions, decisions.
This is exactly what I did, I traded in my 360 as I already have a good PC and a PS3, any more is just a waste as I dont have the time to use it.

The PC is not a console, and when referring to "console exclusives" they are just mentioning the Wii, 360 and PS3.
Thats just a question of semantics though, the basic facts is that I can play most 360 exclusives on my PC and everything else on my PS3. Wouldnt have to pay for the games either if I was so inclined, I sure didnt pay for Windowas (does anyone?)

It does seem like Sam is ditching the old "leave no traces" approach to his missions and being more violent. I don't think it'll be an action title. Instead, the gameplay will focus less on "crawl in the shadows, knock that guard out, stash the body" and more on "creep up behind one guy, use him as a human and put a bullet on his buddy's head before he knows what the fuck"

hopes are high for me that Assassin's Creed 2 is PS3 only just go get back at them...
Why do you hope for the game to only be accesible to the PS3? It doesn't hurt you if 360 owners get it as well. Saying it like that just sounds like you're happier when you can play something and other people can't.

Also, just because bursting bubbles is fun, AC2 is to be released on the PS3, the 360 and the PC.

Considering pretty much every other damn Splinter Cell game, hell most every Ubisoft game, went to other platforms, this decision just seems.......weird...

Is it safe to assume Microsoft payed them truck loads of cash and whores for this?

I know alot of people that might get mad at people calling the PC not a console.
The PC is a gaming platform, which is what they all used to be called before, not sure why that's not being said nowadays.

After announcing this as exclusive, they should have just kept their mouth shut, because that excuse was bullshit code for 'Microsoft had this ton of money see...'

But that's the Nature of the business. If Sony don't start making a lot of profit, they won't be able to afford exclusives.

Maybe they don't have time to make it for all systems, or really do want to optimize the game and....

Oh yeah, that is the most likely reason.

I think God of War 3, Heavy Rain, Ratchet and Clank: A Crack in Time, Fat Princess, Uncharted 2, and White Knight Chronicles are enough exclusives for Sony right now ;)

Though to sound less fanboy-y, I don't really think Sony needs to pay for exclusives, they already have plenty in-house developers with their own exclusives that are secured in place with them.

But the fact remains that exclusives are being lost, and when exclusives are lost, sales are lost, and that's not something that Sony needs right now. If they don't pay for exclusives, then the 360 will become even more of a third party powerhouse than it is now, and that won't help them (Sony I mean).

Splinter Cell was never an exclusive to anything in the first place until now, and I think you mised my point of Sony not needing to pay for exclusives in the first place. Sony is a 1st-party juggernaut, and you can only pay off 3rd parties for so long.

Yes, but with Microsoft buying out exclusives for PS3, and exclusive DLC, Sony has to reconsider there business plan if they want a profit. They can't just rely on the loyalty of their 1st and 2nd party developers anymore.
This is actually one of the few times MS is buying exclusivity of a game. Most of the time MS just buys out a game to also come over to their console and it's not as big of a hit as you'd think such as FFXIII on 360? PUH-LEAZE, everyone knows it's still going to move PS3s and most 360 owners could care less. Oh, and MGS:Rising? Bull-SHIT on that! Not exclusive at all and it stars one of the most hated characters in the MGS series!

I yelled "Phoey!" at Microsoft when I found out MGS:Rising was multiplat, it was definately not the "FFXIII on 360!" anouncment they were thinking it was going to be.

Pat Benatar.

As for this, I'm not too bothered. I've got every other SC game on Microsoft platforms anyway, and the gameplay videos I've seen of Conviction didn't impress me. I mean, auto-aim? Come on. Splinter Cell in name only.

Okay, I don't give a fuck for FFXIII (Give me a VI remake!),
I rest my case.

but am I the only one that likes Raiden? I mean, if this stars super-ninja Badass him the game could be great!
I didn't mind Raiden too much, and I am interested in what MGS:Rising has in store. I just want something more than just a stupid picture of Raiden's face with "MGS:Rising [sup]Lightning Bolt Action[/sup]" on the side. That was perhapes the worst way to introduce a game you're intending to break the earth that you stand on.
