Anyone in their right mind would fund Psychonauts 2. Just like they should do with Beyond Good and Evil 2. The 100.000 people that played the first ones will buy them for sure and the asshats that didn't will too after years of the aforementioned 100k and gaming outlets repeatedly slapping them in the face for not buying and playing these amazing games.

PROFIT!

Man, I haven't even played Psychonauts and I'm happy about this. Like, if this all goes through, I might buy the game on day one out of principle.

I am happy and content with this news.

I'm currently playing Psychonauts on my PC, via Steam (Slowly, but surely) and would love a sequel. It's a good game.

Also Notch is a swell guy for being seriously willing to fund a sequel. Although as much as I like Minecraft, if this sequel happens I hope Notch will let Double Fine have complete creative control over the whole thing - A fan muddling around in the development of a Psychonauts sequel would screw things up, even if that fan is the (at this point) Legendary Notch.

Still I like Notch and I like Psychonauts, so Notch funding a Psychonauts sequel sounds awesome to me!

Psychonauts hasn't wowed me so far (as with at least half the games I own, I am nowhere near finished playing it), and I'm inclined to think it's a bit overrated, but I support what's going on here. Both because it means Notch is using all the money he made from Minecraft to fund development of other creative games, and because it means Tim Shafer's story is getting what we in the video game world call "the good ending."

Psychonauts remains to be one of my all-time favorite games. I've always wished for a sequel, so this is pretty exciting. I may be typing calmly, but I am giddy with anticipation on the inside.

Hrm, thing is.. Psychonauts was not really a good game. Sure it had Schaffers quirky sense of humor and "I dug this out of Tim Burtons Closet, does it look good?" design esthetic, So as a visual work, sure, its good. As an interactive game, not so much.

So, while Psychonauts2 is arguably a good idea, being tied in with Notch is likely the worst thing for that project.
This is perhaps why the idea of a sequel is so appealing. Psychonauts had a great story, aesthetic, sense of humour; it was written well, but it was obvious it was both Double Fine's first game, and Schafer's first attempt at anything not a point-and-click. The idea that Double Fine could take the experiences they used making what I think was the very well-playing Brutal Legend, Iron Brigade, Stacking, and what have you, and putting it back into the Psychonauts universe, seems a no-brainer.

Though I am slightly worried that the Psychonauts 2 pitch was apparently turned down by so many publishers. It could be because it's a niche comedy-platformer that's hard to market, but chances are whatever they're parading around of the game is actually crap. It's possible. Notch could be funding right into a failed abortion of a design document.

I was a massive fan of Psychonauts, and when I wrote a "MY FAVOURITE GAMES EVER" list it sat comfortably at #2. I'm not hanging out for a sequel, really; I'd like to see the concept further itself, but Double Fine has been doing so well with their tiny little fun projects starting with Costume Quest that it'd be sad to see them return to AAA. Regardless, I'd like to see Psychonauts 2 happen; if not for the game itself, but to make people shut the hell up about it. Then get Beyond Good and Evil a sequel and maybe everyone will shut up forever. Oh. Then a Half-Life sequel. But that's all. ...no. People will never shut up. Just the game, then.

Integrity? I am offended! Forum posters are paragons of truth and trustworthiness!

Speaking of that, Notch is buying a dragon. Yep, a flying giant lizard thing. He wants Finland back and intends to fly around laying siege to Finnish cities until they submit. He also has a secondary demand of 50 roast swans a week as tribute for his dragon, but says the number is flexible.

you know, if this happens then all he'll have to do is just start funding Beyond Good and Evil 2 to be the greatest man ever in the videogame world. And if he would be so inclined as to bring SWBF3 back then thats only icing.

but yeah, I hope this happens, thouhg if it doesnt, I wont be devastated.

{RESPAWNING...}

How freaking awesome is this?!? The creator Minecraft "possibly" funding for Psychonauts 2?!?!?!?!?!?

Folks... this is awesome. Just awesome. Two of the most creative minds in the video game industry working together to make a sequel for Psychonauts?!?!?!? And here I thought it'd be lucky to find the graphic novel!!!

Okay, I love Psychonauts, but if there's one continuous argument that presents itself whenever the game comes up in conversation, it's the controls. Say what you want about the story, the characters, the concept, the mechanics, but many say the controls were a bit iffy at times. Bearable, but iffy. I have to agree with that.

But now, it's 2012. I'm sure they can fix those minor issues. And perhaps not make the last level such a hair pulling experience.

OT: Now that that's out of the way:

First Sly 4 and now this! Oh happy days are rising before us people!

The only thing that disappoints me is that we can't go into Agent Cruller's mind. You know, the old guy that suffers from multiple personalities. Apparently he mentally rejects the Psycho-Portal, and you can't get in. Though, that was in the last game, maybe they could get around that and make him a level. C'mon, you know that would be cool. Multiple minds in the same body, such as: A fisherman, a janitor, and one of the greatest psychonaut agents to ever live? Hell yeah, I'd play the shit out of that level.

Yes please! I would want another sequel to psychonauts.

I know this might just be too self-serving but I would like to see an entire stage which looks and feels like a minecraft stage and Raz running away from an army of creepers. Maybe from the mind of a character named Notched or something.

And all around the angels came down from on high and proclaimed the glory that is Notch and all bowed before his righteous handling of money to Resurrect a beloved series from the pits of gaming hell.

There's a trope for this right? And All of Fandom Rejoiced or something?

'squee of infinite joy'

Never thought I'd see the day this would happen. But then I never thought DNF would see light. Here's hoping it doesn't fall through.

Only one of them is creative and I hope the other keeps out of development.

Lol the way he's spending money nowadays shows that he'll probably be bankrupt when Minecraft fades into obscurity (it's already beginning).
