Dungeon Siege 4? It would explain the 4 at least.

But whatever it is I'll probably enjoy it, since it's Obsidian behind it.
Ugh, prob this. :\ Not that I disliked DS3 but..meh

well, gibberish sounds like typical high fantasy to me. Heck, I think we need more straight fantasy instead of all this Game of Thrones-inspired stuff. Deconstruction does not automatically make you clever.
Who said they need to deconstruct anything? Mask of the Betrayer wasn't a deconstruction, but a very faithful and smartly written fantasy story.

Saying that Deconstructions are automatically "better" is like saying Sarcasm makes you funny. (note, I know you didn't say that, don't attack me)

I can forgive silly names and typical fantasy stuff if it is told well. Hell, the Belgariad is one of the most derivative Fantasy series ever written and it is still an incredibly fun read.

Fallout 4!

Atleast thats what I hope!
There's absolutely no hope for that mate.

Just because Bethesda allowed them to complete a side project for them doesn't mean that they'll be the main developers for that franchise.

OT:Here's me hoping that it's going to somewhat similar to AP.

Huh. Guess we'll see. I'm not going to speculate. It only leads to wild expectations that are never exceeded. Best to wait and see, I say.

Still, if it's done by Obsidian I expect the writing to be good, but the game to be a buggy mess. :p

It's probably the Wheel of Time RPG we've heard they would be working on ages ago. The Snake eating itself is one of it's symbols.
I highly doubt it, because things like the 'dirge of Eir Glanfath' don't sound like they're artifacts or titles from the WoT universe. There's too few apostraphes.

I would say WoT, with the potential to be completely unrelated to the books by taking place in the Fourth Age, allowing for entirely new lore and whatnot, but there are some problems with that. Deviating too much would create an unrecognizable world, and fans will want to visit some familiar landmarks. Also the snake eating its own tail is wrong. It is supposed to form an infinity symbol while biting its own tail. So while I want to see a WoT RPG, I don't think this is it. Which begs the question: What, exactly, is this?

*ponders* I wonder what it could be...

Either way, I'm sure it will be something to watch out for. :)

But the most important question is: did they hire better programmers? I'm sick and tired of the bugs in their games. I do very much love their writings though, possibly the best in the industry beside legacy of kain writer.

Interesting how the few lines of text so far revealed have already turned me off of something I literally just discovered existed.

It already sounds like the lowest and most juvenile offerings of so-called High Fantasy, so I guess it can't fail to go up from there once more is revealed.
I was about to post exactly this. It sounds so generic.

Sounds like another fantasy RPG. Too bad they won't take a risk with a non-fantasy RPG. I'd love to see another Alpha Protocol but I know Sega will probably just hoard the IP and let it rot.

The colours look Falloutish but the font and artwork certainly don't.

Obsidian are amazing, I kind of hope it's something new and exciting, very pumped to play a new Obsidian RPG. J.E Sawyer is awesome and he likes cats so yay for him.

It's not Wheel of Time or Dungeon Siege related, it will also make PC gamers happy, the 4 is part of a count-down xD I'll shut up now.
What do you know! *shines light in eyes*

(Am I the only one who is sick of Dragons and zombies/draugr? :<)

Maybe Dungeon Siege 4?

You know...just once I'd like a developer to announce a new game and not be cryptic as fuck. Say the announcement of a new game was on the fifth of February, and the game is set to release the end of April. And at the first mention of the game, instead of some cryptic number with a circle around it, they release a tonne of info and videos about the game. That'd make these things a lot more exciting instead of annoyingly cryptic, and by the time something is actually announced, it's been so long that you've forgotten. It's like that year and a half section after Alan Wake was announced....and then nothing. No images, no videos, nothing. It was just not mentioned for a year and a half and then when it finally came back to the spotlight, was still a year and a half away.

Sorry, it's been a shitty day. Hopefully, like someone said, it'll be an original game simply called '4'.

I know, the wait for Skyrim was agonizing (yes, I know that was Beth). Sometimes I wish devs would keep things a secret until a short time before, but then again they might mess up their publicity that way.

Edit:

Just saw this from someone in the thread

From MCA's blog (here on these forums):

"Still, it?s nice to be home and back into the thick of things here. Speaking of which, for those of you who?ve come to visit the page, you may have noticed our countdown. Our countdown to what? It should become clear in 4 days or so ? stay vigilant."
They are gits for making it Fallout coloured. :<

It's not the Southpark stick thing then?
I couldn't begin to guess. I want it to be an Alpha Protocol 2 (with quicksave in lieu of checkpoints, and better overall), but that won't happen. I'd love KotOR 3, that's not gonna happen. Maybe Fallout 4? Dammit....four....mmmmmm.

You know for all the pretentiousness that surrounds Obsidian and the so called peduo-philosophical commentary and deconstruction of themes that apparently exists in their games, these guy choose the most boring, generic and uninspired settings and world's for their games.

OMG! Someone please make a World Of Darkness RPG!! I don't want that shitty MMO!!

Uncle Tolkien is tired of all kids playing in his backyard while Mr. Pratchett is upset that his playground goes unused. Ya! How about Discworld for a setting?

I would love for it to be the Wheel of Time RPG they are supposedly working on, but the quote does not seem very wheel-of-timey. A shame, I wish Obsidian would just out and say if they have any plans to release the game or if it has been cancelled. Regardless, I'm sure it will be interestign to see what gets revealed, although a tiny part of me is still crossing its fingers hoping for a Wheel of Time rpg, I expect it to be somewhat disheartened.

I also didn't like Alpha Protocol, mostly because it was full of bugs and the game was a wreck, sneaking was 100% pointless and you weren't penalized for just killing everyone. Also, why do my bullets go all over the place, If I am 8 feet away from someone and I have the crosshair right on their face, why does it hit their shoulder?
- Sneaking wasn't pointless. There is one mission in fact where you get a fantastic perk if you manage it remaining unseen. Failing to stay hidden results in alarms and reinforcements that have an immediate effect on gameplay.
- Your bullets go everywhere because it's an RPG with guns and die rolls, not a shooter with RPG elements. Also, you need to hold your cursor steady for a time (time decreases as skill increases) to get better aim.
- It does penalise you for killing everyone. It penalises you sometimes if you kill a single, specific person. You lose or gain affection with your handler, you miss out on different perks, later missions will be harder because of increased numbers of enemies, a potential friend could become an enemy, you may not get access to some sellers on clearing house, etc.

It wasn't a perfect game by any stretch, though I don't think I encountered many, if any bugs whatsoever, beyond the odd bit of texture pop in. A lot could have been made better (the mini-games, VAing, quicksave instead of checkpoints that prevent you going backwards, more open level design, more weapons and more differences between them). The invisibility thing and regenerating armour thing made no sense in a contemporary setting, even if they work in the genre as a whole.

But it was very far from a wreck. It was, like Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines, Fallout: New Vegas, Borderlands and many others, a flawed gem. A brilliant game, brilliantly made but with some serious flaws. Flaws that were unintentional (bugs, AI issues) or intentional (stupid minigames, menus, story or level design). They're still popular, much loved but failed to live up to their potential. Some like Borderlands get a second shot, others don't get the luck.

If it's a new Planescape title, I'm going to hunt you down for not spilling immediately.
