I feel like Sentor Amidala as Palpatine takes over the senate.
All around people are deciding to viciously smash up a guys life because he was a bit of an asshole.
This is no "eye for an eye" (the meaning of the phrase is that you shall take no more than has been taken from you) let alone the "turn the other cheek" we have been expected to uphold in decent society.
We tell children not to react when provoked, and yet here all I see are whining rabid enthusiasts taking their persecution complexes to such high levels where it is them themselves that are the bullies. This is not even base reaction, it is overreaction at it's finest. Yes the guy should be fired, but that's it.
As someone who has worked in retail I had my moments where I lost my cool, that's no reason for this campaign of hate.
And all this before people go and decide to review bomb a controller that is designed to help disabled kids.
Internet people, you disappoint me. Again.

2,3,4 and 6 are all personal matters. There are no laws against being a braggard or copying something (the times when it is are covered by my response to 1). Steroid use or piracy are not big enough issues to merit the reaction it has garnered.
8 is a court matter. if there is verifiable proof - submit it to the authorities, I haven't seen the evidence, but I will not comment if all there is is mere hearsay.
I stand by my assertion that this is wrong, from the start to the finish, this is not the way that civilized adults deal with these sorts of situations.
This persecution complex, born from being bullied in school has led these people to be the bullies of the internet - and that is not acceptable.

Most of all - what I can really understand is retail - the first time a customer yelled at me for my supermarket running out of bags it was annoying, the fiftieth time, I felt ready to explode.
I do not condone domestic violence, It is a serious issue - but not one that should be decided by the amorphous will of the internet.

This is exactly the same, except it is on the internet. That is where this road leads.
I do not support this sort of behaviour in real life, I will not support it on the internet.

However - I propose a hypothetical situation - When I raise my kid, I will tell them not to rise to things like this - not to persecute, but to use the proper channels.
Not to rush blindly without the full information, but to uphold the fantastic legal system we as civilized societies hold.
And when they ask me what I did when the first round of internet lynchings happened, I will say how I despaired.

Vigilante justice is not acceptable, if he is guilty of these things, it should be decided by a court and a jury not by the internet's court of opinion.

He is fired, or replaced or whatever, none of this merits the demonization being lauded on him. I'm sorry, in my past I have copy pasted parts of an essay off wikipedia. [EDIT] REDACTED I HAVE NEVER PIRATED ANYTHING EVER, I've dabbled in restricted substances. (though when I took steroids they were prescribed.)

No, it was not a calculated risk. That implies there was a good chance (even 1% is good in this instance) of something bad happening. They hired a "Professional" Firm to do marketing for them. This whole thing is like a reversed version of "Its a wonderful life".
Up to this point, its pretty obvious that Paul Christoforo has been hopping through life without much care for anyone else around him.
Life has let him be as mean as he wanted to be, and ultimately to victimize weaker people around him. Its apparent in the way he presents himself privately and professionally. Everything the internet has discovered about Paul illustrates the man that he is...or isn't, as you might analyze.
Paul just got the biggest wake up call of his life. The rest of us got this message in our teens. Behaving in fucked up ways and doing fucked up things ultimately bears fucked up consequences. Rather than learn this, accept it, and move on to a productive and healthy adulthood - Paul skipped the lesson. That didnt make the lesson any less true though.
So now, Paul is getting that lesson..but instead of learning it somewhat gently over the course of a decade of teenage mistakes, its all been saved up for this moment..to be delivered in one huge dose.
Is it the business of the internet to serve this dose? I don't know. But its happening.
Its a philosophical point - When do we have to answer for the evils that we do? We've all done something. Some of us have done lots. When is that bill due?

Controller reviews on Amazon this morning, 2 stars trending lower. The bully is afraid of me. I have seen its true face. The gaming sites are extended gutters and the gutters are full of rants and when the drains finally clear for a new loser, the bully will drown. The accumulated asshatery of their roid filled life will foam up about their waists and all the brodweebs and douchebags will look up and shout "You have all the power, please make it stop!" . . . and I'll look down and whisper, "No. I will burn everything I?ve made to the fucking ground if I think I can catch you in the flames."
They had a choice, all of them. They could have followed in the footsteps of good men like Gabe or Tycho. Decent men who believed in giving sick kids better Tuesdays. Instead they followed the droppings of fistbumping trolls and didn't realize that the trail led over a precipice until it was too late. Don't tell me they didnt have a choice.
