My roommate and I actually loved Oghren. On his file, said roomie actually replaced Alistair with Oghren. Alistair wound up getting executed when Loghain joined the party...yeah, my roomie's character was a bit of a prick.

I feel like he was certainly the weakest of the characters. Hell, Rabbit had more personality.
your dog right?
i would've thought shale or one of the others to be picked but.. ohgren? bleh... oh well...
Shale's a DLC character, makes it hard to build a story around her.

it's just as hard to build a story around a drunk dwarf who after brankha hardly seems to have any motivation? but anyway that's why i said one of the others... seeing as it takes place in orlais leilana would've been the obvious choice

Well, he is one of the only two (yes, two) companions who can't be killed, so it makes sense that way. So no matter how you play the game Ohgren will still be alive at the end of your play through. The only other character guaranteed to live is Morrigan, but it seems Bioware has bigger plans for her.

I liked Ohgren. Sure, I never used him outside the Dwarf questline, but that was due to his boring warrior class type, not a flaw in his character.

I just loath dwarves. they are so boring... and short... and beardy.

I won't play a dwarf and I won't have a dwarf on my party out of principle.

Does that make me racist?
Yes, yes it does.

**SPOILER WARNING**

From the official FAQ:

1.9 ? Which Dragon Age: Origins NPC will be returning?

Besides Oghren who plays a large role in Awakening, there are cameos and returning characters. For companions you'll potentially meet Loghain, Wynne, and Alistair depending on your decisions in Origins.

I think Leiliana or Xeveran would have been better choices honestly.

I'll take a drunk dwarf over a psychotic ***** or an elf which continues to try to sleep with me even though I've made it quite clear that I'm not interested.

Bugger off Zevran.

Also, typo in the title ;>

Spoiler alert! ha.

But Oghren is pretty much the only character that is mandatory to get AND impossible to kill. With the emphasis on story and coherence, he seems like the obvious choice. Either lady would be polarizing, the dead characters would be non-canon, and optional/DLC characters would unfamiliar.

Plus, story-wise, even if you never ever had him in your party, it still makes sense that he'd come hang out with you, if for no other reason than that's where the party's at.

How about you bring them all back and bump the party size one or two slots. If the choices you made in origins reflect new gameplay then it would be a real dumbass move to not include Morrigan. The most unresolved character story ending of them all...

*Raises Hand*

I used Oghren at the end...

That being said, I don't see why he should be the only one. He was just there because I had a burning indifference towards the other characters. Buts still, I wish we would see some more of them in Awakenings.

Nevertheless, still excited as hell.

ok when can we have a non biased news report? Its ok to have an opinion but really if you are gonna report the news do so unbiasedly and save the opinions to a second post or something.

I think drunken dwarfs are awesome so Im good with the news

Hmm a drunken dwarf that cusses with every alternate word and has a bitter personality of everything vs An indian looking man who abstains to being a douche and ignores everything you say...I'll take Oghren

Well, when you think about it, Oghren and Zevran are the only characters with a reason to stick around (ignoring Shale and Dog, and not counting relationships). Sten went home, Alistair is either King or gone, Morrigan...left, Leliana went nomadic, etc.

I think Zevran can be persuaded into staying, and Oghren just doesn't care so, it makes sense. Maybe others will get involved based on how much they liked you?

In any case, it was pretty established that Morrigan would not be coming back, so there's no point crying over her.

Oh No, give Ohgren some credit Sten is FAR worse than anything in that game...

Although saying that as soon as I got Ohgren I never once used him...
Sten wasn't so bad after he opens up to you. Plus his sword searching quest wasn't too bad.
Ah now see, I found him so mind-numbingly boring that whilst attempting to get him to open up I just told him to take a hike and never come back...

With Ohgren, well I'd left it so late into my play through to actually start giving a damn that he was even there...

Shale and Wynne head off to the Tevinter Imperium together if you follow through all their quests/talkingness iirc, so they're arguably absent too.
