Well, this might be a shot in the dark, but I thought I'd try this out. I've looked all over the internet for this darned game, and I just can't find it (largely because I just can't quite remember enough details).
This was a 2D game I played for a brief time on my Aunt's computer while I had access to it, ca. 1994-95. (I suspect it was a DOS game, but it might have been a PC or Mac game too. I also suspect it was a shareware game, but I'm not sure of that either).
My memory of the game is VERY sketchy. It involved a young wizard or elf as the hero, a wizard (I can't remember if he was a good wizard who helped the hero, or a villain who hindered him, but I think he might have been the former), and possibly another character, who was possibly female. The setting was a dark castle. I remember there were gems or orbs to capture in the game in order to score points and reach your goal, and I think there were monsters to fight too. [As to the goal, I'm not quite sure what that was. It was either pleasing/getting past the wizard, or rescuing a damsel, or something else]. The hero of the game had some magic powers and the ability to leap high up (possibly after catching certain gems? I can't recall). It was a 2D game, as I mentioned, so there was a lot of jumping up and down platforms, and of course, if you didn't make a jump, you fell to your death, and would rise again provided you had lives left.
I remember it being a very dark, tense game (for a kid's game). Maybe it just felt dark because, while there were rich colors in the game, the backgrounds were mostly pitch-black - I dunno. I remember it being a very good game - it was highly addictive, and quite challenging...at least at the time.
I'm sorry, that's about all I have to go on. I wish I could remember more - sometimes I'll remember a bit more in a flash, but then it's gone. I just didn't play the game long enough to remember much. But it bugs the hell out of me that I can't recall this game or find it again!
