Revenge of the Fallen is not the worst movie I've ever seen and Michael Bay's Transformers universe is not the worst adaptation of a popular franchise into film.

-The nuclear bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, though highly unfortunate, was the best possible option for ending the war, sparing many lives, and allowing Japan avoid Soviet domination..
Sparing many lives?
By Nuking civilians?
...
What kind of crack is that you've got there?
Yep I figured I'd get an ignorant, uneducated person responding to this one.

Learn history. The alternative to the nukes were a conventional invasion, and a Soviet conquest of Japan from the north, both of which would have taken far, far more lives than the nukes did. In fact, conventional bombing of Japan had already far exceeded the nuke damage and death toll. Also, FARRRR more people had been innocently slaughtered in China and Europe. It's just easy to hate the nukes because, well, the US did it, and it's "cool" to hate the US...all the other atrocities are less popular to hate.

edit: whoops, sorry about the double post.
Reaaaly? People don't hate on the holocaust you say? Or the Russian Stalin era prisons? Also it is good to know you have a time machine that tells you exactly what the methodology and results of avoiding the use of nukes would have been. I mean if your opinion was just that, an opinion, god forbid someone might actually challenge it!

The first dropped bomb was a horror, the second a massacre. People don't hate on them cause it is "cool"to hate the U.S. , they hate them because over 200,000 civilians were killed in one of histories greatest mass murders.
Thank you for generic soapbox rant by teenager #3,452,983,475.

Don't you tell me what "I say." I did not say people don't "hate on the holocaust." You said that.

You have clearly not looked at the facts, and the numbers. Look at the amount of deaths in the other theaters of war due to conventional warfare, and the slayings of civilians by axis powers. Time machine not required. The vast majority of military historians and former soldiers and officers agree that the conventional invasion of Kyushu would have resulted in death and carnage far worse than any other battle mankind has waged in history. In the millions of deaths, with desperate Japanese citizens attacking with whatever they can use as a weapon... pillboxes and tunnels all over the place as the remnants of the Japanese army prepared specifically to defend Kyushu.

Research Operation Downfall. Research the political structure of Japans Imperial leadership, not to mention Japan's culture. Research the choices Truman was faced with... send many thousands of American soldiers to a guaranteed death, taking untold masses of Japanese with them, or twiddle our thumbs waiting for typhoon season to abate allowing the Soviets to continue annexing territory from the North, possibly marching into Hokkaido and then into Tokyo (resulting in a North/South Japan similar to North/South Korea), or let the war rage on, or put it to a quick end. The only thing I would have done differently is using the bombs on some sort of isolated military base, or at least a very sparsely populated area.

And... oh look, Japan has one of the most advanced and rich economies in the world today which, until very recently, was the 2nd largest on Earth.
I will say that I disagree with you on the grounds that, on the basis of the war itself, the bomb was entirely unnecessary (I wrote a 13 page paper on this for my college history class a few years ago). At the time right before the bombing Japan was in total collapse and, contrary to belief, the Japanese were ready to surrender. Their only stipulation was that the Emperor retained this position. We could have made it like Britain and have had Hirohito be a cultural figurehead with no actual political power.

This being said, I do agree with you that it is a good thing we A-bombed them (but for different reasons). We did not truly understand how horrible these weapons are and Japan gave the world an example of why nukes should not be used in warfare. Without bombing Japan, the Cold War would have been a lot warmer.

Well I'm an atheist. The majority of people on the planet, and just in America, are not. So there's one.

I think Dragon Age 2 is an amazing game, and that the only really bothersome thing about it is the copy and pasted dungeon sequences (seriously, why does a dank cave have dwarven architecture?)

Graveyards are a waste of space. Corpses should be donated to science, ground up and used as fertilizer or animal feed, or otherwise disposed of in the cleanest and cheapest way possible. It has ceased to be a person, its just rotting meat, why does it need its own piece of land for year and years to come?

Surprisingly, most people don't agree with me. Odd, eh?
I agree. Burying people is a waste of space really. Cremation is a much better option as you keep their remains and it doesn't take up a huge hole in the ground.

I think that everybody is racist. It's hardwired into us to value our own genes, and genes like them, over that which is alien. Not saying it's a good thing to be slaves to instinct, but that's the way it is, and the culture of denial we live in now isn't helping anything.

Oh, we were talking about video games? Alpha Protocol was fun.
But if you grow up around people of a different colour then they aren't alien. And if you can effect this 'inherent racism' through living circumstances it can't be genetic.
Just because nurture overcomes nature doesn't mean nature doesn't exist. I'm not saying we're all naturally slobbering bigots. But most people, if they're honest, think they're better(smarter, sexier, funnier, what have you) than most other people. So people that are more like you, whatever similarity it may be, are better than the status quo. Don't get me wrong this is a better world than when whitey was enslaving everyone else. I just don't think it's possible to completely eliminate prejudice from the human psyche without some pretty objectionable thought control. It's better to bring it out in the open and admit that we're all slightly prejudiced than to suppress it and cram it down into the subconscious, because it will bubble back up in the worst ways. This is where I think all the Tea Party's rage comes from, incidentally. Or maybe South Park is right and they all have small dicks.

I don't like Penny Arcade, like, at all. I just don't find it funny.

I oppose the marketting of Duke Nukem Forever and I agree with the feminist groups who are against it, especially in relation to the whole 'Capture the Babe' gametype. I don't care if you call it 'satire' because all I see is sexism being celebrated as being funny and awesome with no hint of actual social commentary in any way.
I suppose you'd double-dislike this [http://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2011/3/23/], then. Because clearly the EEEEEEEVIL mysogonystic themes are far nastier than mass murder, and thus completely justify a huge outcry from a million people.

Okay. Heres mine. Gadaffi is not the bastard the media likes to make him out as. He ousted the british controlled puppet monarchy and turned oil based economy rape around to putting all of the profits into the country, resulting in free healthcare, housing and education (It might not be the best but hes trying) and, the US and the EU sold him weapons until he decided to sign a treaty to not build nuclear weapons. *Waits for hate* And thats my piece.

Hitler is a utilitarian. His priors are laughably wrong, but his conclusions are solid.

HERETIC.

Was the part of your brain that recognizes funny excised? Is laughing outlawed in your state? Or was the humor chip not installed in the factory where they manufactured you, you soulless goddamned android?

Basically, what do you find funny?

I was actually thinking of the worst possible thing that began with a J. For a serious question, what about Jethro Tull?
