I'll also be on the waiting list, until I find out what the Human:Giant Robot ratio is. I'll accept nothing less than 1:2, but 1:8 would be ideal.

The other two, I watched. I wouldn't call them horrible, and I even had a case of post-explosion anxiety afterwards, made for good popcorn flick. But... I also have to agree that Sam's character is highly unlikeable, and this is just a personal thing for me, but unrelatable. I can't care about him.

Optimus, on the other hand, I like him, he's an awesome guy. Bumblebee too, though we don't get to know enough about him. The Transformers are so much more likable, but they don't get the screen time they deserve (as someone brought up, for understandable monetary reasons).

Maybe if, like others said, the movies didn't take themselves so damn seriously.

The movies never took themselves seriously. If anything, the reason people didn't like the second movie compared to the first (if you were a fan of the first like myself) is because the second was way too goofy.

To say that the movies take themselves too seriously is ludicrous. You want to see a movie that takes itself way to seriously, watch G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra and then rethink what you just said.

Its going to be another stupid military recruiting movie. I really have no interest.
I have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. You may be in the wrong thread, bud.

As for the thread: I'm not really sure what I feel. Maybe the following expression best captures what I'm feeling about Transformers 3:

"Not sure if want..."
I assure you no mistake was made.

Mm... no, watching G.I. Joe, I feel like they never tried to be anything more than a fun action flick, with a slight dash of finger-biting "what's gonna happen?" thrown in. Not enough to actually bite your nails, but a bit of anxiety, not seriousness.

Transformers seemed to want to be some sort of government conspiracy thing, and the only thing that came off as being an obvious joke was the two little gangster robots. Then there were the jokes like the pot brownies, and the dog, but that was more like a shift in tone, and it didn't hit the whole movie. No, the whole movie felt like it thought it was the big shit on campus.

Call me "slightly hoping". RotF was a horible piece of poo with a bad testicle-joke to boot. This seems like a slightly entertaining story: government lies to giant robot. Giant robot takes sh*t from noone. Giant robot leaves, now the American marines have to clean up the mess...

Sh*t. We're screwed over again!

Dear Michael Bay,

Contrary to popular (read "your") belief, explosions and Shia LeBoeuf (which actually means "cow", just like he acts) are not more interesting that giant robots shooting eachother.

Do not make any wreckingball jokes (you know the one), use your explosions carefully (too much is what it is: TOO much) and I'm willing to not hate on the robotdesigns if you ditch Megan Fox.

Sincere love,

Me.

Now hope he reads this and takes some hints from it.

Yeah, Transformers is totally an Air Force recruitment video since it shows how easily it is to be slaughtered by a single robot and how faceless soldiers get killed in the dozens really makes everyone want to sign up at their nearest recruiter to fight "that evil Megatron!"

Amusing conspiracy theory though, I have to admit. I never thought of it that way, but that's probably because I wasn't wearing my tin foil hat this time. I'm always being brainwashed, man.

(To be fairly honest, making tin foil hats is actually a fun hobby, especially for webcam chats with friends!)

Frankly if there is one person that needs even less screen time than Shia, it is John Turturro. I like the guy in other movies but his character in this is too much a detraction from the story.
This trailer is a promise that shit is going to get real, finally. That promise better be kept.

They aren't even trying to make the Decepticons look like transforming robots anymore. What Car or truck turns into a walking scrap pile?

Script? What's this, that is outside the explosions Budget. I'd say the story snippets in the trailer are the best we'll get. It's all going to be a giant battle with New York getting blown up again.

no megan fox in sight..thank god!! does this mean the movie will focus on the Bots instead of Sam's love and sex life with an actress that is more suitable acting in porn?
From your mouth to God's ears...on ALL counts.

see here's the thing, most of the people who like these movies they don't see robots beating the shit out of one another often. I do, I see it every day whenever I want, I have catalogues of this shit.

Why would I watch this movie when I can watch Gaogaigar or Getter Robo or Mazinger Z or Big O or Overman King Gainer or Gundam -insert universe here- or Mars Daybreak or Gurren Lagann or Daiguard or Macross or Zoids etc. etc. etc.

The tranformers films aren't just bad movies, their BORING. The action is terrible, the designs are ugly (and I have seen ugly designs for robots thank you) and none of the cast, human or robot, is likable.

Why in the hell would I watch this garbage when I can see this?

much as i despised the first two films, i'll be the first to admit, as far as shaky cams go, bay seems to have learned his lesson judging by the trailer.
That was my thought: Thank GOD the camera is holding still. With the camera holding still, at least I can see what's happening.

Kinda.

When the movie was announced, I was like, "Another one? Really?!"

When the plot was revealed, I was like, "A secret mission on the moon that's been kept secret for 40 years? Well, that's kinda interesting, although it does make one wonder why NASA or the US Government failed to mention that they found technology on the moon that resembles the stuff that's killing hundreds of people across the world!"

And when I saw this trailer, I was like, "Well, the vaguely interesting plot seems to have been sidelined. Why will you do time for treason if word gets out? I'm pretty sure everyone in the world knows these robots exist, why don't you just tell them that there's a bit of their technology on the moon? Wait, if the US Government knows it's up there, and the Autobots are working for the Governement "in secret", why not tell them it's there? Surely telling them might have helped them repel the Desepticon threat. How do we know stuff about their home planet? Did we find it on the ship? Because I pretty sure all writing you find on that ship would have been in Cybertronian, or...whatever language the transformers speak in. Guessing it can't be easy to translate. And why did you reveal everything you know about their home world? Again, why not just say, 'There's some of their junk on the moon'? 'Years from now, they're gunna ask, where were you when they took over the planet?' Hasn't it been previously established that the Desepticons all humans eradicated? Who's gunna be left to ask that question, let alone answer it? Wait, are you seriously sending in para-troopers to kill the transformers? Are you actually f***ing serious?! 'You may lose your faith in us, but never in yourselves. From here, the fight will be your own.' Who is losing faith in the Autobots and why? They have continually defended this entire planet from robots that are equally, if not, more powerful than they are. And they have, thus far, succeeded! Why are you losing faith now? Is it because of this invasion of transformers from the moon? Yeah, I can safely say that was our fault, and you know why? WE DIDN'T F***ING TELL THEM ANYTHING WAS THERE!!!!!!! Oh yeah, and thanks for leaving us, Optimus. I'm sure we can easily take down this treat with our f***ing squirrel troops!"

Yeah, I know it's just the trailer, and some of the stuff might make sense in the context of the movie, but I've never had so many problems with a trailer before. And despite all of this, I have to see how this movie fits together, becuase, currently, it looks like a bigger mess than Revenge of the Fallen

Well, my only gripe in the second film was that the "comic relief" was a little unbalanced and made everything seem too silly (which would have been rectified by simply removing the entire college sequence and Sam's roommate). The new one seems to be taking a more serious tone (based on this trailer at least) and I hope that holds true with the full feature.
