Hmm. Common sense in not blaming items for the behavior of lunatics. Nice to see it prevail, but as a UK citizen, I feel we could have done with that kind of thinking in the wake of the Dunblane massacre.

Nonetheless, I'm delighted to hear that sometimes, just sometimes, people understand that there is no use blaming anything you can lay your hands on for a tragedy, worse if it's a lobby like this who are using the tragedy for their own purpose, which disgusts me a little.

let's hope the other world governments follow that sort of reasonable logic against the coming anti-game zealot assualt.

"The studied indifference of this killer to the suffering he was inflicting, his obvious dehumanizing of his victims and the evil methodical nature of the killings have all the marks of games scenarios,"

Could easily have been:

"The studied indifference of this killer to the suffering he was inflicting, his obvious dehumanizing of his victims and the evil methodical nature of the killings have all the marks of movie scenarios,"

Their argument is paper thin as always.

Well, I knew something like this would come up eventaully. -_-

I don't think we need to argue about how stupid this idea is. This man is sick, simple as that. I even watched a video he had created, (can't remember the news service I got it from, but anyway). In the video he is completely againest multiculteralism, saying that people should stick to, and defend their own race. Oh but to add to this, he also believes that the only race that deserves to "defend" and live in the first place, is the master race. He thinks that all other races should be killed off, so he basically wants a mass genocide of all other races. This guy is actually worse than Hitler.

LOL He thinks of himself as a crusader and he basically worships them. He is also especially afraid of muslims, since they are the fastest growing religion. He fears that their "influence" might end up consuming Europe. *rolls eyes* I honestly cannot believe people like this exist.

You know, I've read the bible all the way though once

Let me tell you: No game can beat the levels of violence I found in the Old Testiment. Such as one guy getting a tent spike driven through his head. Or the task David had to do to to get married (To quote wikipedia "Saul makes David a commander over his armies and offers him his daughter Michal in marriage for bringing more than 200 foreskins of the Philistines to him" Worst. Collection. Quest. Ever.). Yeeesh.

It's nuts to ban things consenting adults can do in the privacy of their own home without affecting others. Video games included.

I remember watching the news where I first heard this and I faceplamed so hard since I just had said that I hope he doesn't say that videogames were in anyway affiliated with the terror attack and then he suddenly says that it was a part of his training regiment

*stares* Can I tell tell them a secret?

You can ban everything in the world if you wanted to.

Crazy people are going to do crazy things. That's how the world works. There's nothing to blame other than their brains.

"The studied indifference of this killer to the suffering he was inflicting, his obvious dehumanizing of his victims and the evil methodical nature of the killings have all the marks of games scenarios,"

The guy did these killings because he was mentally fucked, a loony tunes, a nutcase, a fucking psycho. It was motivated by politics, and he wouldn't have been more sane and less likely to kill even if he hadn't played these games. Hey, maybe killers play these games because they get off on killing, and not games turning players into killers? Ever thought about that?

God. Just. Fucking. Die.

Edit: And no, my wish for you to perish in a hotel fire is not motivated by me playing Halo or liking Mortal Kombat, it's motivated by my hatred for people that can't handle basic causality. Trust me, even if I didn't play videogames at all, I'd still hate you. I'm just a hateful person.
And I know you can't read this, I just think it needs to be said. Suffer.

And now I will say something that I will probably never say again: Go government with a history of hating video games! Show those Christians who's boss!

I only read a couple comments at the source article, but I thought one of them was worth paraphrasing.

Why would we take this guy (the shooter)'s word without a grain, or perhaps a mountain, of salt?

At best he holds numerous views rejected by a majority of Western society. At worst he is (and this is the technical term) bat-shit crazy. He MAY be right about something, but his credibility or reliability isn't that high.

Archemetis said:
Well of course MW2 didn't make him into a psycho.

The guy said himself Modern Warfare was his 'training regime'. In order for it to be his training for the atrocities he'd have to have actively decided he wanted to kill all these people...

Argument over in my opinion.

THIS THIS THIS THIS

Wait, so a man is driven to murder by insanity and political extremism (or at least that was the verdict last I saw) and this is somehow the fault of video games? I'm sorry, but even for a schizophrenic, that's a hell of a non-sequiter.

heres the truth..

even if you BANNED ALL FORMS OF MEDIA it would not prevent this kind of thing. socity is no matter what you do going to have violence both small and extreme.

Media, Religion, magic space dust... no matter what you blame and try to get rid of you will alway have people trying to kill each other...

you can say we as humans are an advanced species but we are not so evolved as to not be yet another group of mammals that is likley to kill at slight provocation.

you want to stop a major source of violent assults and conflicts outlaw religion first. alot more random murder has been caused by that than anything influenced by media.

There are many idiots like this. Mark David Chapman read a book called The Catcher in the Rye and then killed John Lennon. Why do we not ban all books?

Australian politician denied that games are cause of mass-murder.
In other news, Activision's new Call Of Duty has more changes than only it's number, Bethesda made a game without loads of bugs, Valve released a bad game, hell froze over.

I completely agree with Mr Wallace's reasoning. A psychopath played video-games, therefore video-games create psychopaths.

I'm ready to support his attempts to ban video-games, and I'll also be ready to support his future attempts to ban hunting, Christianity, Islam (in fact it would probably be best to ban religion altogether), Atheism, books, TV, film, music, computers, and anything else a murderer has ever done or been a part of.

A Christian Group is calling for the bannings of video games because a fundamentalist Christian commit an act of terror upon Muslims?

I don't understand.
What's there to not understand? They wish to distance themselves from the event. As much as possible.
