Could you please do some research before posting this sensationalist crap & causing people to react as above?

BF3 doesn't have a server browser because BF3 doesn't have a main menu.

Everything is controlled through the Battlelog website, VoIP, server browser, friends list, community forums, stats...everything.

Battlelog is fucking awesome. Seriously.

PS. You don't need to close the game and open it again to change server, simply alt+tab (which is super quick) to Battlelog & find a new one.
Quoting for second page, as said people need to be aware of this.
Alt+tab while with 64 players, crazy grahpics and mass building destruction is gonna be quick?not everyone has nasa's computer.

OT:EA is making players hate their games more than haters.

Why the hell are these people trying to lose?

When I first saw the game I thought "Yes, this is amazing, this WILL KILL MW3 when it's released!" and what do they do, try and screw themselves...

I hate you so much EA. You took a game that everyone could have hopped on board with and changed the game with. But no, you just slowly destroy its ability to fight back.

If MW3 has a server browser I would much rather play that than this.

I hope what you say is true, but at the same time, they should have made a menu, because if the game only launches through a website then my singleplayer is effed.

Also, this isn't some f2p game, my game should be a fully featured standalone product without any need for an internet browser or internet connection (yes games are doing this now, but it doesn't mean it's right).

So, at first... The game doesn't have a server browser. Then, we find out that that's not stupid because the game doesn't have a main menu at all!

Wait, what?

I have to say, seeing as PC gamers are getting Diablo III and Dota 2 in a few months, I'm surprised EA isn't including strippers in the box. This information may not be enough to make me say "OH NOES I NOT BUIZ", but I will definitely not buy this on the first day, as I previously intended. I'll wait for reviews before I decide it's worth full price or discount price.

lol at this thread. "You're wrong, guys! It's not a lack of server browsing, it's a lack of a main menu! You get to tab out anytime you'd do something you could do ingame with a menu!"

Remind me how this is a good change?

Why? Obviously they want to use their new online system but why make the system tedious? I shouldn't have to close the full game to access another server not when the perfectly acceptable and well used system of doing it in the game works pretty well.

It's not a decision that's going to effect me buying the game but it is one that will make me become irratated by the game.

This needs to be read by all. Though the internet hate machine is already spinning up >_>

I also had no issues with battlelog, it seemed to be the perfect central hub.
If it's the "main central hub" and is so integral to the experience, then why isn't it in the game itself?

This is seriously one of the dumbest ideas I've ever heard.

What would possess EA/Dice to create an inferior design, when the superior design has not only been implemented before, in previous games, but it's been implemented in previous games, created by Dice.

It's truly facepalm-inducing, jaw-dropping stupidity.

Warning for that post - for trying to advise people they shouldn't listen to sensationalist "journalism" (seriously, were to you find these people?) with little-to-no research?

Fuck this site - I'll get my ZP & Bob Chipman from Youtube like normal people.
Don't let the door hit you on the way out. And for the record, I personally feel that needing to launch a game through a website because they couldn't be bothered to make an in game menu is lazy and unnecessary.

Have a nice trip.

You know how, when a network really doesn't want to support a show, it'll move it around, putting it in really weird timeslots so its fans can't find it, and then point to low ratings as an excuse to cancel it?

Kind of what's happening here, if I had to guess. It seems like EA couldn't make it any clearer that they really don't want to develop for the PC anymore, so they're trying to make it as unpleasant as possible so they can drive people away and then point to low sales as an excuse not to develop Brown Shooter 19 or whatever for the PC next time.

That's just my guess, anyhow.

By the way, before anyone accuses me of being a PC "fanboy" or some such thing, I'd love to play new PC games, but my laptop (only computer I have) lags when I play games as old as Warcraft III. I have Both a PS3 and a 360. Just felt like a pre-emptive clarification.

Before everyone starts losing their shit, A lot of Alpha testers stated that Battlelog isn't really that bad. It loaded the servers much faster than previous Battlefield games like BC2, BF2...etc. Granted I have never seen how this thing actually works, but it doesn't seem as annoying or troublesome as it sounds. At least that's what I heard.

I'll still be sticking with BF2 because of this. Had that game for 6 years, and I'm still playing it. Now, it looks like I'll not be updating to 3 regardless.

I was in the Alpha and it works pretty well. I would even go far as to say I like it better than the Bad Company 2 game server. Searching is easier with 'Ctrl F' in browser, and scrolling is a lot faster. It was strange, sure, but the load times weren't any slower or faster than I remember them from BC2 (aka, waiting for the game to launch was the same in BF3 alpha as waiting for the map to load BC2). Not having an options menu in between games was annoying (and something I hope they add to the real game), but as long as you're playing in the same server, you won't ever have to tab out. Really, it's faster to quit.

If I had to guess, I'd say a lot of the ire is from the fact that it's kind of an obtuse way to engineer a game. Most games would simply put all that stuff in the in-game menus for convenience's sake.
