Why are people so angry about this? You people are never happy with anything, are you? Seriously, you spend weeks talking good about the game, then one thing comes up that you don't like and suddenly you refuse to buy it. Seems very childish to me.
Well, here's the way I see it.

Imagine if this new restaurant is coming to town. Man, it looks good; everyone's talking about it. You see ads for it, and it's your favorite type of food too! You can't wait, you think you're going to be there opening day. You're going to line up with your friends and eat an amazing meal at this new kick ass restaurant.

However, a week before it opens news breaks: all food in this restaurant will turn your shit neon blue. Some people? They won't care at all. They figure "hey, I shit alone and no one sees my shit but me. It just doesn't matter to me." Others, they're just horrified at the very thought.

It's kinda like that.

Well done EA, well done.
I know consoles are a lucrative market and all, but have you stopped trying to get money out of the PC gaming crowd?
They offer you money, you decline and slap them with your genitals.

Good thing i'm getting this on console i suppose.
Why get it on console? Half-size maps, fewer vehicles. Only reason would be because you really hate killstreaks, because its basically MW3 on consoles.
You see, there's these things called not having the extra dough to buy a decent PC, not being technically proficient enough to know what parts do what/are compatable with each other and outright not being good at building electronics.

Almost like Dice lost a bet to someone and as punishment they had to see how fast they could scare away fans from the PC version of there upcoming game.

Just wait, in a few weeks they will tell us that to be able to shoot in the game you have to go into the ini file and write a paragraph that explains why you think shooting should be turned on.

What the fuck? First, no Steam, now no server browser?
I knew DICE couldn't make a working server browser for PC in the last few years (especially for BC2), but cutting it altogether? Hell no!
And now, putting it on FUCKING consoles? If they could get it working on consoles they could've done that for PC for fuck's sake!
Okay, I'm NOT buying this game anymore. No mod tools as they promised back then, no announcements about BattleRecorder, and no server browser.
Shit.

oh wow another knee jerk reaction from the "i hate EA" crowd.

boring.

people moan about a lack of innovation in games and the moment a reputable company tries something different, there's hell to pay.

from everything i've read and seen this system is perfectly fine and functional.

Folks, let me debunk this.

Battlelog is better than a server browser in the following ways:

1. Its centralized and organized.
2. Its faster to get in a game.
3. Its free (unlike CoD Elite)

You know, in moment like these the Steam Overlay browser would be a real lifesaver.

But... you know.

Still, I'll probably pay attention more to the people who are in the alpha, as you know those are the people who have the most experience with it.

What's wrong with a Facebook-esque way to check stats and join games? Really, what's wrong?

Isn't saying you're going to cancel a pre-order a little hasty, by something you haven't even seen or used?

It's a cleaner and simpler way to do that. It's just that.

And they have to have a server browser on the consoles because viewing a Webpage and even using it is a damn nightmare. I owned a PS3 once.
Wow do people have low standards.

OK let me explain what in development circles a web page UI translates to "laziest bodge job known to man", only seen in the shittiest of indie games, a triple A title with that... there was none before this.

Searching and filtering servers is much more convenient that way. Why is everyone whining? BFBC2's server browser was slow as hell.

If the game UI sucks they should fix it, we don't pay 60$ for them to be lazy pricks dicking around with web pages.
It's no wonder they can pull this shit with everyones standards so low.

I played the Alpha, have the NDA breaking vids and screencaps to prove it. lol

That being said. Just canceled my pre-order. Using Battlelog was clunky. Main Menu with a server browser is so much better. If it finds you a server and you cant connect, it kicks you right out of the game entirely. Plus lack of main menu means you have to adjust all settings while you're on a server to play. Alpha didnt even have control options.

AND the settings file was hidden away and is encrypted, so you need a Hex Editor to adjust it manually. Actually had to adjust the mouse sensitivity manually that way since by default it's pretty low. Granted it's an Alpha but damn, the purpose of a main menu is to adjust that stuff before hopping into a match on a server. I do not want to have to launch a web browser + origin just to play a damn game.

Origin is not a problem since I use steam, but how come that can't include a server browser with origin, like steam has a global server browser for steamworks titles.

Oh and every time you quit out to find a different server, Origin has to re-authenticate everytime it launches. To be honest the server browser in BFBC2 is better. The server browsers from BF2 and BF2142 would much prefereable. CoD4 styl server browser would be fine. Not this battlelog crap.

Sounds bad. Eh, it still doesn't seem to be a huge problem, just pretty annoying. Hopefully no there isn't any more news like this.

It was easier, so they did it. It's just them slacking off.

I was in the alpha; Battlelog itself was nice, but the server feature was far worse. It was slow, not particularly user-friendly, and required a toolbar download. Seriously, it was a pain compared to in-game server browsers and took more time to start up than BC2. The splash screens only happen once in BC2 and pretty much every other game with an integrated browser.

And before I get any DICE fanboys saying, "It was your PC/It was your internet," I just want to take a minute to say: no, it was most definitely not.

Unless this is somehow streamlining things (and I really don't see how it is), this doesn't seem to have any sort of functionality at all. I'm a little confused, here.

And what was the point of that move?

I mean, BFBC2's server browser was a little buggy, but I prefer it there over not. The fact that you have to restart the game to change server's is a bit... problematic.

What a waste.
