Just looking at the unboxing, the night-vision goggles arn't gonna be as cool as you think. They don't look like the fancy light-ampifying-green-tinged version that the military uses, nor the possibly even more cool thermal camera based ones.

How they most likely work is with a small camera lacking an IR filter (which normally blocks out near-infra red light), and a display of some sort in front of your eyes. It looks like there are a bunch of IR LEDS surrounding the lens to provide illumination. What this all means is yes, you will be able to see in complete darkness... but you'll only be able to see what the tiny LEDs are illuminating, plus anything illuminated by another source of IR. People won't glow in the dark, and you won't see things outside the beam of the IR leds. Possibly worst of all, EVERY digital camera on the planet can see IR. They mostly have a filter to block it out, but it doesn't block it all out. (Try pointing your TV remote at your camera and pressing some buttons... you'll see the IR LED start flashing). What that means is that when using them you'll light up like a christmas tree when looked at by any digital cameara. And seeing as the LEDS would have a fairly short range... somone with a cellphone camera will be able to see you long before you can see them.

That being said, I still want a set. Though I could build some more cheaply by removing the filter from a $30 camera... I've already done it with my webcam and it works quite well.

Also, sales charts don't typically count online sales from places like Steam. Steam has absolutely outstanding sales, and that's where the future of PC release titles are. On platforms like Steam.
I wonder if Activision is overlooking this fact, or actually accepting it and just not bothering with the Prestige Edition because the game will be available so much cheaper on Steam (for example), and they think PC Gamers won't be bothered spending the money on the gimmicks?

I wonder if they've started getting death-threats yet?

...*Sigh*...

Goddammit, Activision, words cannot begin to describe your recent surge of utter stupidity...

Kind of a stupid move. PC gamers are generally the most hardcore of FPS players, and since they spend quite a bit of money on having sweet gaming rigs, they probably have some to spare for the Prestige edition or MW2. Even though I'm probably not getting the Prestige, I still think this is a dumb move.

You're right. No one is buying MW2 for the single player.

They'll pirate it for the single player.
Singleplayer isn't too outstanding from what I've seen in the MW franchise. If you're pirating it for SP, at that point you must just be sticking it to the man.
...I'm sorry, are we talking about the same game?

I know, I know, opinion and all that. But you're making a statement about the general perception of the game, and MW is widely notable for it's exceptional SP with regards to most other current gen FPS.

I guess the difference is that Valve still give a shit about their consumers, or at least pretend to. Activision couldn't give a fuck, because they are going to get money by the mound regardless.

OK, now it's just getting ridiculous, "Hey guys I got an idea, lets not market our extremely high priced edition to the people who regularly spend hundreds of dollars to keep their system in working order", "That's a great idea, wanna go eat some shit?" "Do I ever!". Plus do we need to keep giving PC gamers the shaft with EVERYTHING?
This basicly, I guess they just dont care about computer gamers

Publishers like Activision and EA howl "PIRACY!!!" as the excuse for every title that doesn't sell as much as they wanted. Instead of taking a page from the decimated record industry which turned to concert and merchandising revenues (i.e. because you can't download a t-shirt) and offering an incentive for PC gamers to pony up hard cash, they decide to slap those hated PC gamers in the face by making a special edition for every platform BUT PC.

Because DRM worked so well for Spore, didn't it?

Will you hit me if I say I will be buying for the single player?

Honestly, am I the only one who doesn't care about any "collectors" editions for any games?...

So many games now come out with a collectors or limited edition and it doesn't mean anything anymore.

I've never understood why anyone would spend the price of two games or more for a single game "special package"
with a bunch of useless extra stuff.
These Night Vision Goggles are probably really cheap and they will most likely break very quickly anyways.

I guess I underestimated the appeal of singleplayer when stacked against the MP.
Well if I remember edge magazine, like 40something percent have on player cod4 multiplayer and only 28% of people have completed it on any difficulty
So in all fairness you are right on your first one

Unfortunately PC Gamers are too smart to fall for this, Activision expect us to rage but they've just saved us some money by doing this. We'll stick to the Hardened edition thank you.

I'd be happy if they gave us PC fellows a flashbang. Or a hand grenade for that matter.

Are we? Perhaps this is a case of "you want what you can't have" and they'll release it a bit later, expecting a sales figure extravaganza.
