Tumblr (or more fairly i suppose, the SJW side of tumblr) meanwhile, is the internet cultural equivalent of the third reich.
Do they advocate for mass genocide? Do they advocate for one master race? No, they don't. And please. Show me the extermination of the straight white male that's being talked about seriously in massive amounts of numbers. Because most people don't advocate for extermination that results in the extinction of the human race. Oh, also, hundreds of thousands of feminists on Tumblr noted this post that calls out misandry. I doubt you ever looked for anything like that because you made up your mind that Tumblr feminists hated men.

And this one

http://kitkatinahat.tumblr.com/post/89739085499/sameatschildren-co8alt-thief

I know people like to play Godwin's law to stereotype people they disagree with into faceless monsters, but reality is never, nor will it ever be, that simple.
That original post made laugh, I mean, there are ACTUAL NAZIS on Tumblr that call for those things, why do they need to pretend it's someone else? Turns out when you have a free blogging platform with a decent UI, people of all sorts will use it. Tumblr has a lot of problems, it's moderation is very lacking, people abuse the tag system terribly (one great example of and this is when a bunch of charming "trolls" got together to spam a tag for survivors of sexual assualt with incredibly violent rape fantasy porn), and then there's always the chance that someone you follow because they post old comic covers will suddenly decide to branch out into anthro porn, which you will then scroll past on your dashboard, in the middle of class, while there are girls sitting behind you.

I don't want this to turn into a sjw Bloodbath, It seems that fact seems up in the air on how much that had to do with it right now. what I want to talk about is this the point that our Internet culture has gone to? You draw a character a certain way, you get harassed to hell and the people who harassed you have the balls to say you deserved it when you commit suicide.

so what are your thoughts.
Did someone actually die or are we trusting a random twitter user who says "proof is key" then relies on a single, vague tumblr post to confirm that someone died because of SJW bullies?

Really, this thread is just another in a long line that makes me glad I'm not a mod. Because if I was, I'd shut down every single thread that uses tweets as proof of anything in the OP, and probably ban repeat offenders.

STOP USING TWITTER AS PROOF OF ANYTHING
Nobody is dead, but she did indeed attempt to kill her self according to the people who are clsoe to her.

OK first of all this person is an artist, be they a Tumblr artist or Deviantartist or what have you how do they make money these days? Generally through a patreon account(or commissions or something like that) and that means they have to have some amount of interaction with people who want to see their art. Clearly this person isn't quite cut out for this kind of thing but they also clearly have some talent for art. But if they want to make money as an artist with their talent this is pretty much their only option especially as a teenager(again that uses their talent for art, I'm also just assuming she's a teenager because there is talk about her mother in this thread).

I know somebody told you a metaphor, something like "stay away from your house" but I think the better metaphor would be "stay away from your paying job" and obviously you can say "but I work at *BLANK* and I hate it" and have an easy way out of this and I'd really ask you to think about what I'm trying to say to you as an anonymous person on the internet who doesn't know where you work and assumes you work somewhere decent.(if you do work someplace crappy think about this from the perspective of somebody who wants to have a career in something they like to do. Maybe replace artist with "streamer" or "youtuber" or something like that.)

There's no proof of anyone dying and no evidence of bullying, apart from one bad screenshot and a blog that looks made-up. Criticizing someone's work doesn't constitute for bullying anyway.
Whether or not this is fake I can't say, but I will say something seems missing from this whole affair. Could be information hasn't come to light yet, or that there are some details misrepresented, or it is an all out hoax. I don't know, but for now I want to know a little more before I make any judgements.

I think that, and you might disagree with this, everyone who tries to commit suicide for whatever reason is not fully mentally sane.
So today I learned from the internet that having depression is considered being insane. Cool.

Somehow I don't think you're an actually qualified psychologist though. Because you don't seem to have a clue what you're talking about.

With regards to the OP: I'm actually very saddened by the fact that it doesn't surprise me in the slightest that a group would throw a tantrum over something not being 'politically correct' and to drive the person responsible to attempt suicide. This is apparently the world we live in now... -_-
I have depression, and I'd say that at least I'm not in a complete mental state. Insane is a different word and has a different meaning. Insanity is a terrifying thing that I hope I never even skirt with. But mental instability? Yeah.

All our minds are is chemical interactions, and depression is when we lack one set too much and have too much of another (I forget the actual names of them though, can only apologies for that). It's not the norm, and it does need to be fixed. I'm taking pills and seeing a therapist to help sort mine out (actually on the back end of it now which is great). I don't see understanding that there is something wrong is a bad thing.

This is not a "Tumblr" problem, this is a problem of entitlement. Elliot Rodger felt entitled to women, Anders Breivik felt entitled to a racially and religiously homogeneous homeland, and these miserable sods tearing into people feel entitled to have any fanart appeal directly to them.

If what happened really did happen it wouldn't be the first time, nor the last.
Wow...fantastic comment. Genuinely. I think you got it so well there that I don't think I could add any more to it.

A lot of people doing this via the net would likely be the same sorts doing it IRL, I'd have thought.
Not true at all.
In fact it's almost the exact opposite. Most real life bullies aren't that bad online. Whereas a lot of the people who bully online are complete and utter cowards in real life. That's why they do it online. It's because they feel powerful with their physical inadequacies out of the equation.

True, I meant that the mentality is the same, the methods are just different.

Suicide is a complex issue and I think saying X drove Y to (attempt) suicide is oversimplifying the issue. This kind of shit behaviour clearly didn't help though and the fact that it's online shouldn't make any difference to how it's treated socially or legally.

I don't really know what to take away from this. Protecting people from online harassment and making people accountable is really hard to police without intolerable violations people's privacy, everyone knows this already. I find it weird that attempts to create anti-harassment legislation often gets criticised as SJW-whinging... and then something like this happens. There are at least a few horrible arseholes on every side of every issue.

I love how people assume that Tumblr as a website is "a problem" yet when people shit on 4chan the response is "omg it's only /b/ and /pol/ that are bad!" Please.
That's why I dislike both. It's an easier position to hold and doesn't come with any pesky double standards.

;)
If what happened really did happen it wouldn't be the first time, nor the last.
And this is the most depressing part of the situation.

Sometimes I feel that becoming a misanthrope is the only logical option anymore.

Stuff like this is why I'm of the opinion that driving someone to suicide should be considered first degree murder. It's not right that people get away with harassing someone until they commit suicide, this sort of thing needs a really harsh punishment, to make those who do the harassing think twice. If they're too stupid to think twice, put them in prison for life as an example to others that this kind of hateful bs is not okay.
I wouldn't imagine that'd really work, I doubt the people involved expected the person to commit suicide, or tat they'd be caught.

Now, to punish them and make them personally not do it again, that makes sense, but if people don't want to grasp that actions have consequences, making examples of other people they don't personally know seems unlikely to help. Especially when the direct consequences are to someone they don't like.
actually, there is recent legal precedent that held a girlfriend liable for convincing her boyfriend to kill himself.

All I can add to this thread is thank fuck she's still alive and in a place there'll be help for her.
I hope she finds a way to get past this and keep on drawing.
However the hell, whoever the hell she wants and primarily for herself.

I've never been to 4chan? Is this some kind of weird, inaccurate psychic power, or just the usual hostile assumptions in place of a real point to make?
You've said inaccurate things about 4chan, despite saying you've been there. Either you're lying about going or just lying. I tried to give you the best way out.

I heard in the news a case where this girl was on the phone with a guy urging him to kill himself repeatedly and he eventually did and even then they can't charge her. To say that online bullying should be charged when even that currently isn't actually illegal with how the laws work is kinda silly.

That being said, I wish people didn't care what other people thought so much. I almost feel more pity about the way that person lived if she cared so much about what random people say than I feel about the way she died.
