Instead of punching them in the tits, you could educate them.... A thought....

ok i am confused now, are you telling me that guy is the bad guy now? you were making him out as a really nice guy who didn't rape people when they were drunk and now hes bad?
Just because you don't bone a barely-conscious woman doesn't mean you're a nice guy. It just means you're not a rapist. I would never take advantage of a drunk girl (unless we're both drunk, in which case she's taking as much advantage of me as I am of her), but that doesn't make me a nice guy. During a debate I can be quite a prick, like that time I bullied a grown man into admitting he doesn't understand simple math.

But yes, in spite of the points I just made, I agree with you. This guy was established as a nice dude who only had the best of intentions towards Erin, and now they're ragging on him. I don't think that's right. Don't get the audience completely on his side and then out of nowhere tell us he's the enemy now. I hope that's not the author's long-term intent here.
I don't think little Erin's gripe is that Tris is a bad guy. I can think of two reasons why she's shitting on him: Either she doesn't like that he's trying to scare Erin into someone she knows she's not (tolerable) and would rather her keep being untolerable than a liar OR she doesn't like that he's trying to help her and fix a problem for her that Erin can solve herself by being Erin.

Either way, I too don't really buy that he's a chode either. Or if he is, Erin was being the bigger one.

"Just like mom"? I don't recall it ever being implied that Erin's family had a history of mental illness. I had thought this was all the result of the accident. Interesting. Also, Kid Erin is so full of win.

Well, in Kid Erin's defense, he did shove Erin out a window. That is pretty bad. I don't care how good your intentions are, when you place a person's life in danger to make a point, you're going a bit too far.

That being said, I think this is supposed to be misdirected anger. Kid Erin just told Erin that this guy is her enemy. You've never known a person to get angry at someone else, claiming they were harming them or in the wrong, when it wasn't true?

Nobody in this comic knows how to deal with crazy people. Guy and Inner Erin both have good intentions that will pave their way to hell.

By the way, if you want the right to be physically violent to random people, random people have the right to hang you upside down of a window.

What is a "chode"? It sounds familiar...
A chode is a penis that's wider than it is longer. At least that's the definition I've been given.

Erin is totally a lesbian.

I demand a female love interest.
Well, there's Erin.
The ultimate form of wincest.

I approve.
Isnt it technically uhh.. Self gratification? Not Incest.
It's not self gratification, because while the same person, they exist somewhat separately.
Either way I want to see it happen

Now, we just need Zoe Castillo to show up, and the transformation will be complete.

(If you actually get this reference, you get all the cookies.)
I'm a little rusty on my Longest Journey lore, but you're suggesting that Erin can take control of electronic devices the same way Faith was able to in Dreamfall.

Well he IS a virtual stranger who has taken it upon himself to stage a freakin' intervention (and one that can possibly end with him dropping her a couple of stories onto concrete if his arms get tired). That takes the mindset of thinking you know what's right for a stranger, and being so sure of it you'd put their life in peril.

Taken from that perspective that guy is kinda a self righteous dick.
on the other hand, he IS doing it to help her, albeit through misguided methods and/or motivations, his intention is benevolent.

Yay!

I must confess, I never played The Longest Journey, but Dreamfall remains one of my favorite games.
I'm still bitter that there was no closure at the end, and there doesn't appear to be a sequel anywhere on the horizon.
Tornquist statet, that he want/will work on a sequel, when The Secret World is released. (which it is now!) and play the prequel! Dreamfall without TLJ is like chess without the white party.

And what's ahead? That's too early to say, but rest assured that I haven't, and will not, leave The Longest Journey and Dreamfall fans in the dark forever. Chapters is going to happen, and hopefully this year you'll know when and how.

I'm note sure what this has to do with her mum's illness. Erin is suffering from brain damage from a traffic accident. It'll either go away on it's own as her brain heals, or it won't.

So, you're defying the Holywood cliché of mental illness being something that can be overcome by willpower by way of using the Holywood cliché of mental being something that can be overcome by willpower. Makes sense.

Only a complete shitrag would tell a blind person to "suck it up and learn to see," yet telling someone with clinical depression to "get over it" isn't considered grounds for a punch in the tits, which is infuriating.

You are my favorite person in the world for this.

I have struggled with clinical depression for a long time and it turns out I have actually got something seriously physically wrong with me too (that can worsen mental symptoms) that I have had from when I was teen. So people who told me I was faker and lazy and to get over it feel a bit stupid now I'll bet...
As a fellow sufferer, I can tell you that they definitely do NOT feel stupid. They feel that the doctors who told you that are stupid, because people hate to admit they're wrong. They will accuse every other person of being wrong before they will admit that they themselves are wrong. It doesn't matter how many doctors agree, they will keep thinking that you are a lazy faker because that's what's true in their head.

And the more this happens, the more you'll hate humanity for not recognizing that there is something wrong with you beyond your control, and the more you hate humanity, the more depressed you'll get, until you hit rock-bottom and just ignore everyone who talks to you. It's actually a bit like being emotionally bullied--eventually you build up a resistance and your burning hate cools into a little hate-neutron-star that becomes bitter until you realize that nobody is worth the effort of being a good person.

Or maybe that's just me.

One thing I have learned (from My Little Pony, as a matter of fact) is that if you force yourself to be happy, it won't get RID of depression, but it can help it be less crippling. So, the advice they give you doesn't WORK, but it does HELP. Somewhat. It'll still suck, though.

And here I've gone and written three paragraphs without an on-topic section. Better write one before I get flagged.

OT: Thanks for the disclaimer, but I was pretty sure that the advice here was related to Mr. Evil Feminist, not her mental illness. If you make her HALLUCINATIONS go away with her childhood self telling her to man up, I'll be put out, but if she just socks this guy in the jaw... that's not overcoming mental illness through willpower, that's putting a douchebag in his place. And yeah, at this point, I'm pretty sure he's doing this to manipulate her, whether HE knows it or not.
