I never could figure out why people would want to pierce themselves in all weird ass places. To be honest, I don't trust people with too many piercings, either. To me, it's not a matter of 'they have a nose piercing! They must be a trouble maker!' It's more like, "They have a nose piercing! Where the FUCK was their head when they got that? Up their ass?"

Believe me, I'm all for rocking the boat and being the blacksheep of the crowd, but when SO many people are getting piercings now, they basically have no meaning anymore. The same goes for tattoos. They don't mean anything when everyone has one.

But I suppose the only real important thing is how you feel about it. If you're completely happy with it and yourself, and could give a crap less about what people think, then Go You. :)

I admire your willingness to get something that looks like it hurt like a *****.

They don't appeal to me. Putting metal through parts of your body is weird. If you think other people will find it attractive and want to get with you, more power to you.

My father always told me,
that if I would come home with a piercing,
he'd rip it out with his bare hands,
no matter WHERE I'd have it.

Man's got hands like freakin' coal shovels...

Not that I would ever want one anyway, simply don't have the need.
Doesn't seem practical and doesn't exactly offer any advantages.

Still, you know, if ya dig it, go with it, I will be the last one to judge.
They can have advantages, either through increased stimulation of the area the piercing is in or as a handy place to hold your keys.
Hmmm,
I'd still go for the 'ribbled, for HER pleasure'-condom instead of a piercing.
Never get scared you're gonna get it stuck? ripped off? or infected? Seems like something that requires constant extra attention. It's cool and all if you want to make that sacrifice, but it sure wouldn't be me.

And about the keys...
You're kidding, right?

Ouch, that's a painful one...The best rule of thumb when it comes to piercings is that the unseen piercings rarely cause people to look at you differently ;)

If people judge you on shit like that, they aren't worth your time. Personally i dont get much negative attention for my piercings (eyebrow, 2 lip piercings and both ear-lobes stretched to 10mil) so it doesn't fuss me.
Though if it annoys you that much, nose piercings heal up quickly enough.

I used to have a lot of piercings. I had two industrials in my right ear that were ripped out in a mosh pit at an Amon Amarth concert. People used to watch me and all the teachers in high school thought I was a drug dealer, even though I'm straight edge. Yeah, people look at you different when you have them, but fuck em. You didn't do it for them, you did it for yourself. If you are happy then do what you want. It isn't hurting them.

I think people have odd reactions to septum piercings just because it's one of the more, for a lack of better words, 'shocking' places to get a piercing in any of the always visible places. Like you said, it's not common where you live, so people might just react weird from just never seeing something like it before, and not realizing it's not some strange thing.

That's a septum piercing. Mine is smaller though.
I like it, but bonus points if you shake your head like a bull and snort at people whenever they get close to you. Also, triple word score if you randomly charge at people on the street.

Not at all, now I can go to nudist beaches and have both hands free (to begin with).

In short, your piercing is unusual. Unusual makes you stand out and isolates you socially from the norm. People fear those who don't fit the social norm and watch them more closely. If you walked in wearing a business suit and sunglasses people would look at you funny too. Also, people with unusually piercings are associated with bikers, thugs, and criminals. Fortunately, you can remove the piercing and blend back into the crowd, think of all the unfortunate souls who stand out but can't blend in with a simple piercing removal.

I'm not against piercings, but as someone else said, they show a rebellious attitude, someone who wants to break societal norms and put themselves apart from others by any means.

Also, if I were to see a man stick a knife in his nose, I'd be kinda creeped out. I'm not saying it's totally equal to a piercing, but I can see how some people might.

Ok in my area, piercings are all worn by thugs, wasters, drug addicts and metalheads, mostly to denote who's the biggest ***hole and waster the more you got. I used to have a few none visible ones (under the shirt, or ears when I had long hair) simply so I would not get lumped in with this group. You may think your piercings appear harmless and OK but actually the general stereotype is one of a person you can't trust. Unfortunately you picked a particularly bad one when it comes to this stereotype. I'm not saying this is the case of all people, just the stereotype. Unfortunately people are judgemental and you may have to deal with it.

I didn't have that much reaction to them other than my family. Part of it was at the job I was at, I was at the top of the production and sales charts people couldn't say shit to me. Before my son was born and I was scheduling the procedure I asked the physican if I could keep them in, he had no issue, it was the fucking nurse that said I couldn't have the c section until they were ALL out. Then the cup with my piercings got magically lost and the holes closed up. If I had an extra 100 or 200 to do them over I might personally unless it causes issues with a company or severe family issues, do what makes you happy.

Piercings = Trouble is a bit of a stereotype. At least it seems to be when piercings are in "odd" place like the septum. My opinion? I don't care. I prefer to talk to people to find out what type of person they are instead of judging them based on their appearance.

Considering I have many tattoos and have had several piercings in my day aaand am more attracted to girls who either like or have piercing/tattoos (my gf has snakebites) I love 'em
I only have a small 8mm plug now cos the stupid hole would never heal and my nose ring fell out and closed up reeeally quickly so I just stick to tattoos now. Can't wait to get my sleeve finished

Because people are idiots and a lot of people assume piercings and tattoos are one in the same. I had 9 piercings in my right ear but I took out some due to infections and such so now until I decide to do them again I have 5. I have 2 in my left ear. Plus I just re-did my lip on the left side. Point of this? I surprise the hell out of people all the time because I was raised with manners and use them constantly. I look like a little punk rock/goth girl (cause work makes me wear all black for the dress code) but I constantly hold open doors and thank people and such. People constantly do double takes with me. I'm use to it. And I just don't care. I didn't get piercings to make others happy, I got them because they make me happy. And the one in my lip is for me to play with anyways so I really could care less if someone assumes I'm a trouble maker. Which, most people do. Its a society thing mostly. That's what society has trained us to believe. That people with piercings other than the traditional one or two in your earlobe are trouble. I just enjoy proving that wrong every day. And also, I am planning on doing my tongue when I can afford to take the time off work for it to heal so I have something else to play with. At least piercings can be only temporary. You don't have to have surgery(typically) to have them removed.
