Just been told about Escapist's War on gaming community forums. Would love to get the chance to play as TR again!

Ever since Planetside i have waited for an equally good MMO FPS. hoping Huxley can live up to it

Huxley doesn't have a prayer. Its like a Quake version with NPC PvE content added. Granted there will be PvP but not near to the scale of planetside.

I'm hoping MAG is a spiritual successor. Certain ideas are similar & it's being developed by Sony.

MAG might be an excuse for PC loyalist fps shooter fans to buy a PS3...if they can pull it off.

PS3 has a keyboard/mouse controller right?

Yeah, I'm new, meant to join the Escapist for a while but couldn't be bothered to get around to it, this pushed me into doing it.
Anyway, I have some FPS experience but I've never played a proper tactical game like this before online (in fact I haven't played much online, nearly all single-player experience). I am also a little (correction: huge) RPGer, so this game appeals to both of my needs. I have been interested in this game before, though it's a subscription-based thing so I resent it (I refuse to pay for anything), this might be a nudge to look into it.

Sorry, don't know if MAG will. Certain games have it built in. Others don't.

Wait, that's the open American Server. If that's the case, doesn't that mean even the ones that don't win can support the ones that do (even if they don't earn points themselves), by either subscribing or grabbing a trial account?

Well, the event is going to be measured by the ability of the guys with the 70 game keys, right? But it's taking place on a public server. So people who don't have one of those keys could still get a trial account and support the ones that do, even if they don't directly earn the points themselves, having more people on your team means you're bound to do better.

Well, it's open now but I'm sure SOE thought of others not being able to get on the server for a bit. It doesn't make any sense that random people would be able to play or other to be able to log in. It would throw the whole reason for the competition out the window.

By excited I mean we can't wait to farm you over and over until you log off in tears. My k/d is going to be epic. You poor fools have no idea what you are getting yourselves into.

Just out of curiosity, how do you plan on tracking the stats? The game stat tracker has been broken for 2 years and has not been updated in just as long.

Previous Clan wars and such have been hosted on Oshur, but for us to be able to go on at any time, whenever we want, it would have to be open server, otherwise 225 people over a 24 hour wont fill a map, even Old Oshur. I mean, I'm from the UK, and I'm sure theirs some people form Aus entering, so we could have all time zones covered, meaning "peak" american time, we still dont have the full 75 on at once (Though that would be awesome, and if picked, I'm happy to lead everyone for an event!)

Yet they record stats enough that merits can be attained, so I daresay they'll have something special inplace for the actual accounts. Plus I'm pretty sure stats are recorded, its just the SOE page never ever gets updated!

That would be pretty nuts, but we'll see who gets farmed, are you a smurf or a fishhead? Oh how I loved playing on the American servers for cheap kills!

All I know is that there is one North American server and Sony is not going to tell its paying customers that they can't play so a handful of free accounts can use the server for a contest. They may let you use old Oshur as a private battleground but I still can't see that happening as the CSR's have to manually teleport each person to the continent and they are not going to sit around waiting for you guys to log on and off.

I have a maxed out level character on each empire. I usually play TR but will be playing NC or VS to be able to hunt down the level 1 contest winners.

Actually, it's longer than a week plus Can't really have a valid contest unless there is a lock somewhere.
