Personally i think someone should attempt to assassinate the Emperor or abbadon. I had an idea for a novel where a the best imperial assassin goes rogue after failing to assassinate abbadon and sets out to destroy the golden throne. No one steal my epic original idea! I wont spoil the ending but as far as ive thought it up it's pretty good.

I think there should be a climax to the whole 40k idea, the bit where it all comes together.

But as long sa the equivilent still has the Skaven feel of it, I'm happy. If they start doing some kind of crazy shit, I'll be angry. The Skaven setup is fine just the way it is now. I know it's reasonalbe that Skaven has any kind of stuff coming, considering their four clans. But I still want it to be really Skaven-ish. It would be cool if it could be something from the Moulder Clan. That would fit in nicely. I don't think any others have something that would give reason to something that epic. Definetely not the Skryre Clan. They are far enough from Skaven-ism as it is allready. The assasination clan would by far never have anything that could fit this description. That would just seem lame if they would introduce some kind of master assasinator. And even though Clan Pestilens have what it takes. I fear that might just be too overpowered.
Yeah, moulder really does have the most to do with skaven as a whole, it'd be nice to see some variations of that besides giant rats and rat ogres; I think being able to modify them would be sweet.

More from pestilens would be nice, but it'd be pretty easy to make plague monks and cencer(sp?) bearers over powered

As for Eshin and Skryre: I've never really used gutter runners or night runners so I don't mind much about them, and so long as nothing drastic happens with the jezzails Skryre is alright with me

They really haven't been changing much with the previous lists; I highly doubt they'll get rid of the "life is cheap" or lead from the back rules. I play Dark Elves too and the only generic rule they changed was dark elves hate everyone now, everything else was just stats, points and magic item changes

The whole point of the universe is that it is very slow and stagnant. Months and years are spent in the warp to answer calls from planets light years away that are probably already annihilated before the troops are even dispatched. The Tau are new and dynamic and quite frankly likely to win if they can sustain their growth rate and couple it with FTL/WARP technology. Except that the Space Marines are what makes the money for GW, and the SM are human (like the IG) so GW will never let them lose. Though we are in the time of ending now.

Read the Index Astartes articles (these have been coming out since before 2002). There is a crap load of back story to almost all of the legions. As well as a mass of stuff about the primarchs themselves.

The boys in blue take the fore because they are the generic ones - almost everyone is derived from them - and because their Primarch was awesome and built the current Imperium this way (with the high lords, but he had a bigger-than-usual influence)

I'll agree that Moulder basicly have the most to do with Skaven. But everyone has at least some root to it. They have some feeling of it. Eshin (Thanks for reminding me) might be a bit too much of a sneaker type to have a lot to do with Skaven, but still has its feelings. Same with Skryre. The only problem is that I don't get the feelng that their inventions are a skaven invention. If they'd do more fucked up stuff like they did with Boneripper, it would be neat.

Pestilens on the other hand. I can feel the Skaven-ism in them. They are a good example of Skavens.
Well. I haven't really used any of them. I just read the story, and paint them =P

I hope so too. I love those rules. I love how Skaven are completely unable to work together. I love how they have no feelings for their fellow kind. And I especially love the fact that Skaven would have no problems taking over the world if they would just be able to cooperate for five minutes =P

Stupid bastards, are allways trying to be in fron of their own =P

Nah, the whole point of 40k is that the Emperor failed, and basically the Imperium has become the exact opposite of what he wanted (And is 'credited' with this hell). The fact it's all falling apart is what gives the Universe its appeal.

There are a few signs of 'hope' throughout 40k but I doubt they'll ever get acted upon. Only way I can see it changing is the Star Child thing happening.

Chaos attack Earth again, succeed in killing the Emperor in his current form thus leading to his rebirth as the star child (A true God in every sense of the word), then from Chaos' victory the Imperium is reborn as a real force of good.

Would destroy the appeal of 40k in my opinion however.

Okay I'll admit to being a n00b when it comes to actually playing 40k, being as I've only read the books before, but it seems a little to over the top with the counter units memorizing what your infantry have in attack strength their weaknesses and things like that. Not to say that the 40k universe isn't awesome, it's just too complex for a beginner n00b like myself.
Imperial guard all the way!
